221 G at chennai
Hi,

I was issued 221G blue at chennai 2 weeks back. VO told that he isn't able to take decision now and took all my docs. He said he's gonna read them and get back to me through email or phone in one week. He did not write Administrative processing on the 221 G. He instead wrote that Have all the documents will ask to submit passport later.

I called consulate today and got a reply that my case is under review as they are reviewing something and there is no time frame for them to reply back.

Is it additional administrative processing?
If it is, then how can they do so without any info on 221 G?

Please let me know if anybody is on the same ship.

Thanks
Deep

H1B VISA Interview - Mumbai on 6th Sept 2007
First of all I would like the hosts of this forum to accept my heartfelt thanks for allowing users like me to read and post experiences.

I attended my H1B VISA interview at Mumbai Consulate of September 6th, 2007. I had read most of the experiences on this website and felt more and more confident of facing the interview. On the day of the interview the procedures were exactly like mentioned in some of the posts so I wouldn't go over it.

When my pink token number was called out I went into the VO's enclosure.

Me: Good Morning. How are you doing today sir?
VO: No Reply.

After some time
VO: Hello. Why are you going to the US?
Me: I am going to work in the US.
VO: What work?
Me: I am going to work on blah blah blah
VO: What work do you do in India?
Me: (Told him)
VO: (Probably looking at my B1/B2 Stamp)Have you been to the US before?
Me: Yes
VO: Why?
Me: (Told him)
VO: Did you watch the cricket match yesterday? (India Vs England Natwest Series second last match when India scored 316 and won)
Me: Yes. (I started telling him what i thought about the whole match)

And then as everyone on this forum says the golden words VO: Your VISA is granted. He returned my Approval notice and kept my passport.

Me: Thank you.

Collected by Passport by Rush Service the same day from VFS and all set. He had my Approval notice from USCIS and my passport already when I went in there. Other than that there was no exchange of documents at all.

I hope this experience helps all those who still have their interview's scheduled. All the best.

Succesul first time H1B stamping at Chennai - 6th Sep
Thanks a lot to these forums; I got my first H1B stamping from Chennai on Sep 6th.

My interview was scheduled at 7.45 am on the 6th of Sep. I reached the consulate by 7 am and there was a big queue outside. It should be enough if you are there 15-20 min early because then you will be straightaway sent for Security check otherwise you will be asked to join the line. The line finally started moving at 7.30 and at the first desk outside the gate, the security checked the Passport and Appointment confirmation letter. Once done, you are asked to go in where there will be another check of your belongings. Do not carry any leather bags, electronic items including mobiles. Even water bottles are not permitted beyond this point.

Once inside the building, a security person will direct you to one of the counters (there will be around 5 counters) where they take your Passport, I-797, I-129, LCA, DS-156, DS-157, do some verification, place them in a separate folder and give it to you. One thing you have to remember in DS157 form is writing your name in native language. Pls. do not ignore this.

Once you get the folder, you are asked to go to another building for finger printing and this is where the actual interview takes place as well. There were about 5 counters & only one counter was open for finger printing and here again, you will be asked to join the line. Once you are done, you are asked to be seated till you are called for the interview.

After few min, a security personal asked the candidates scheduled for 7.30, 7.45 am slots to form a line. Slowly, the other counters opened as well and the interviews for the day began.
Here is how it went for me:

Me: Good Morning, How r u?
VO: I am fine, Thank you. How r u?
Me: Fine, Thanks.

VO: Ok, so you are leaving YYYY for YYY.
Me: Yes

VO: Will you be working at the client’s location? (Simultaneously typing something)
Me: No, I will be working at the company’s location on an In-house Project.
VO: Everybody says so.
Me: Smiled.

VO: Ok, so how many employees does YYY have?
Me: Answered.

VO: How many years of experience do you have?
Me: Answered.

VO: Can you give me the tax documents for the prospective company?
Me: Gave him the doc (My company had not yet filed the tax returns for 2006.But they filed an extension & I passed him the same doc)
VO: No, this is not the one. This is an extension. Can you pass me the tax docs for 2005?
Me: (Gave him the same).

VO: fine thanks.
Me: Smiled.

VO: Ok, let me see, YYY right? (He did some online search for the company and was satisfied).Fine.
Your Visa has been approved and will be couriered to you.
Me. Thank you
VO: Best of Luck
Me: Thanks. Have a nice day

Pls. remain calm, confident and maintain a smiling face even if the VO is not happy with something. I had a chance to observe a few interviews and noticed that some of them got really panicky after sometime. Also, there was one VO who was taking 5-10 min interviews while some others finished in 3-4 min.

Do remember that if you have all the genuine and relevant docs, you will make it.
All the very best to the rest.

Do feel free to ask any queries. I will be happy to answer.

Thanks,
PRY

But he kept my original Form 797 and issued a form 221g with "Application received" stamped. My question is that Do I need to submit my Passport, original document (Degree/Marksheets) alogn with the required doc. There is nothing specificaly mentioned in 221G.
Looking forward for your reply.

Refusal under 221(g) stating that it needs additional administrative process.
I attended H1B interview on August 30th 2007 at Chennai Consulate. My case has been refused under 221(g) stating that my case needs additional administrative processing (Consular gave me blue sheet ticking "Required Administrative processing"). The visa officer said, they dont need any more information from me and I dont have to do anything. He further said that after the processing is over, the US Consulate will get it touch with me. My passport and my experience letters were returned back to me, but my original I797,Copies of I129, Company-tax returns and no wager employment reports and all other docs from sponcered company have been retained.

One more thing, Consular didn't stamped for "Application Received" to my passport but staple one letter stating that I cant fly to US before 21st September 2007.

1) Aproximately how long does it take for the Consulate to contact me? Wil they contact through e-mail or phone?

2) How is the chances to get Visa stamped?

Anyone with similar experience, please share your thoughts / suggestions.
