Hi All,
I have my interview scheduled in 3rd week of Sept in Mumbai consulate. I had worked in 3 different companies, but the very first one has closed and is no more in the industry.
I came to know there would be a background check as we submit the documents 5 days in advance.
Would that be a problem as the first company I worked is not existing currently. I tried calling on the phone number of my first company, also the number is not existing. Would that be a problem?
Please advise.

H1 Stamped Successfully at Mumbai Consulate on 5 Sep. 2007
Hi,
Firstly, I am very thankful to the users of this web-site who have shared their experiences and person driving such a wonderful web-site.
My appointment was at 9 O’ Clock and I reached the VFS office at 8:30 am. The US Consulate is late by 35 minutes at 5th Sep 2007, so I left from VFS Office at 9.35 and reached inside the US Consulate by completing all the checks and figure print at 10 O’ Clock. I got pink token number and sitted in the hall and waiting for my interview turn.
I was too worried because inside is very crowded and was not able to hear token number properly. I sited on chair at till 11:15, and then my token number was announced window no.7. Here you need to be more patience because I met persons waiting from morning 7:30 appointment to be called for interview.
Here is my interview experience: I was 5th person in the queue, 1st person got the rejection may his documents are not genuine and VO asked him to sit outside. 2nd, 3rd & 4th got the approval but VO taken at least 2-3 minutes/person. Then my turn came:
VO: Give me the Pink Token
Me: Given
VO: What will you do there?
Me: I’ll work as Programmer/Analyst in Company Name, Location
(Here I guess it is pre-decided whether they want to issue you VISA or not as per the documents (they do the background check) you submitted to VFS prior to 5 days of interview.)
VO: Tell me specifically?
(Here in my case, after asking this question VO immediately returned me the Notice of Action I-797 form even before I reply to question, and I knew that if they return the I-797 that means your VISA is approved. Because prior to me VO returned I-797 after completing the interview as what I saw from outside the cabin)
Me: Then I told about my technology and domain.
(But Here I guess I have not told the answer what he was expecting but it worked)
VO: What is your current salary?
Me: XX per/annum
VO: How long you been in current company?
Me: X years X month
VO: What will be your salary in US?
Me: $XX per/annum
VO: Why you want to leave your current company?
Me: It’s good opportunity and I believe it will give me better learning curve.
VO: Your VISA is approved and passport will be couriered within next 2 days.
Me: Thanks sir.
VO: Thanks Welcome.
That’s It Friends. It hardly took 35 seconds to approve my VISA and after 2nd question I was sure my VISA is approved because he returned I-797 form and then I guess rest of questions were formality. I collected my passport same evening from VFS Office.
VO did not ask about a single document. Mumbai Consulate issued most of the H1 Visas that day and I guess not asked for single document to any of interviewee.

Hi,
Recently i attended H1B interview and i was given 221g blue asking about client letter, complete itenary with dates,projects and tax returns of the consultant. All the documnets are ready now and im about to send through VFS in a couple of days. [B] Visa officer asked me to send those docs along with DS 156,DS157,I-797,I-129 and passport in VFS [/B].
I would like to know what are the possibilities to get Visa and how long it will take to get the process done.

Hi All,
My Interview is scheduled on 4th oct, but In I129 document My name spelling is not correct. I have already applied for the updated I129 document. Anybody knows how long will it take and how much important it is?

Hi ,
First I want to give thanks to everybody who have shared their experience.
I got my visa stamped at Mumbai consulate on 4th sept . My interview was at morning 9
I reached around 7:30.at VFS office. It was raining heavily. I had taken
the lounge facility, still they didn't allow me before half an hour.
This day the consulate was running very late, inside VFS office they allowed me
Only at 9 am. Around 9:40 I left for the consulate office.
Once you enter into the consulate office, you have to go through the security check,
After completion they will provide one wooden token, this is of no use, you have to
handover this token at the time of returning.(after completion of your visa interview)
After that you will get all your submitted forms (DS-156,DS157 etc..), here they will
provide you with one paper token no. this is the number which will be announced for your turn. be concentrate on the announcement. they will speak very slowly and with the American ascent.
My interview was like this:
me: good morning sir
VO : good morning
VO: why you want to go to usa ?
me: for execution of the project which has been assigned to me.
Vo: where are your working ?
me: i told the company name as xxxx.
vo : why you want to leave such a good company and want to join a small company ?
me : I replied that, i got a very challenging role. Better opportunity and better pay package.
VO: since when you are working with the current company ?
me : around 2 and half years.
VO: prior to this where you were working?
me : I was working with xxx. Prior to this I was working with yyyy...
VO : what is total years of IT experience ?
me : I am having xxx years and yyy months of exp.
VO : are you a bachelor or master ?
me : the word master I couldn't able to hear properly .I asked repeatedly three times
me : I replied I am married ..
VO : again he asked are you bachelor degree or master degree holder .
me : this time I told I am master degree holder.
VO : what you have done in Master degree?
me : I replied my specialization in master degree.
VO : then his golden voice came that your visa approved. You will get by courier with in 2 to 3 days.

I got visa stamped in CIUDAD JUAREZ, Mexico on August 20. I met Victor Garcia from El Paso, TX who helped me in getting bank challan from mexico. One can have full details from www.victorgarciainternational.com I reached El Paso on Aug 19 and next day Victor Garcia took us to mexico in his van. He droped us at Holiday Inn hotel where we had reservation. After we left our lauggage, we went to US Consulate (5 mins walk from hotel). Went through security, finger scan and waited for our turn for VO interview.
My interview:
Me: Good Morning Sir
VO: Good Morning
VO: What is your new employer name?
Me: Answered
VO: What is your designation?
Me: I answered
VO: Where is your new employer?
