How much time chennai consulate takes to respond 221(g) drop box
I was given 221(g) at chennai consulate. They asked me to drop all the documents in VFS drop box at Bangalore with out passport. I am planning to drop in the next 2 weeks. How much time does the chennai consulate takes to process the documents?
Any Idea like 10 days, 15 days or a month or so.
Probably people who got through this process can you update? As this time chennai consulate is asking to use drop box for all 221(g)s.

They asked not to send passport, if they are okay with the documents then they will request the same. How will they inform us by email/phone or through VFS?
Any one with similar experience can you post your update?

H4 Visa Stamped
Firstly thankx to this wonderful site for helping em so much.

My Interview date was on 13th August. the time was 9am. i reached the stripes lounge at 7.40am. At 8.30 we (my daughter and i) were asked to board the bus to the Visa Office. first the security check happened, then the finger prints were taken. we were asked to be seated. exactly at 9am, our token numbers were called. but i was interviewed at 9.30 am, as the VO took long time for the family which was being interviewed before me. I think they got a 221(g), which scared me. As i entered i wished the VO, she said hello

VO: Where is your husband working?
ME: answered
VO:Whats his salary?
Me: answered
VO: Where is he now, in India or USA?
Me: answered
VO: For How many years have you been married?
Me: Answered
VO: Your visa's will be couriered to you:)
ME: (Was staring at her, then realised that i was granted visa.) Thank you ,maam.

I was scared when i went, but everything went on smoothly.

Issued 221g
First of all my thanks to those who posted there experience here. It helps me a lot for preparing the interview.

I attended the interview on 13th August 2007 and was issued with 221g asking for some more documents from my employer side.

My Interview goes like this..

Me: Good Afternoon Sir, How r u?
VO: Good Afternoon, fine.

I handed over the blue folder which contains HDFC Receipt, DS i56, DS 157 and H1B Papers (I797, I129, Education Evaluation Form). He went through the documents.

VO: Your degree certificate.
Me: Given
VO: Mark Sheets
Me: Given
VO: Asked for offer letter of current employer?
Me: Given.
VO: You are working in xxx company?
Me: Yes
VO: When you joined here?
Me: February 2007.
VO: Before that?
Me: yyy
VO: Is your project client project or inhouse project?
Me: Inhouse
VO: What is your roles and responsibilities in US Company?
Me: blah blah... also i told the project name.
VO: What is that project?
Me. blah blah

He looked something in computer for some time and taken the blue form and marked some documents and told be to put the documents in drop box. Except unemployment wage report i have all documents, but he didn't asked for a single document.

I asked for all the documents from employers may be i will get it within next two week.

My doubt do i need to put the passport also in drop box? In 221g passport is marked as default? Please inform me any have expereience in this.

Regards
Nilesh

You need to fill up fresh DS-156 if you are issued 221(g)
For all those of you who are issued a 221(g) and planning to drop your documents at VFS centres, then please fill up a new DS-156 form and also submit a print out of the new barcode page that comes along with the DS-156 form

221(g) issued
Hi Friends,

I have attended the Chennai Consulate on 9 th Aug for H1B visa stamping. I was issued 221(g). They are very keen on project documnets from our US employer. Most of them were issued 221(g) requesting for more documents from the employer.
Those who are planning to attend the interview in the coming days make sure that you have documents stating the kind of work you are going to do at US and project related documents.

Thanks
