L1A Visa Approved in Chennai
Time to payback. This site has helped me a lot.

My L1A Visa was approved on 30th Aug 2016. My interview appointment was at 10:30 am. When we reached, there was a huge queue outside the office. Thankfully the security guard let us in since we had my 4 years and 10 years old daughter along. Once inside, we were asked to sit in a separate section for families with kids and were asked to proceed for interview within 30 mins. I saw 3 rejections happening in front and on the next window. One advice to all, do not get distracted with the rejections happening around. Be focused. Below are the questions asked by the VO. It was pretty quick and smooth.

- Which organization do you work for?
- Which client?
- Are you going to work from the client location?
- How many direct and indirect reports would you have in the US?
- Please name them and mention their designations.
- Who would you report to in the US? Please mention his/her designation.
- And who does he report to? What’s the designation?
- What’s your job title in the US?

Then questions to my wife:
- How many years are you married?
- How many children?
- What are their names and birth dates?

Questions to my older daughter:
- How old are you?
- Which school do go to?
- Which standard?
- Which subject do you like?
- Do you read books? Which one did you recently read?

And then the golden words. Your Visa is approved Sir.

Thanks everyone and all the best.

L1A Visa
My L1A Blanket was rejected in Jan'16 and after that my company did applied for a L1A individual visa.

During L1A Blanket, VO was very quick, asked some basic questions looking into the system and then with a smile did gave a blue form saying that "Your Visa is clearly not approvable".

Travelling with family to Chennai and again getting rejection is actually a quite a disappointing effort.

Later, my L1A individual process started and along with RFE and stamping it took 7-8 months. Even I was also not desperate this time and was just doing it saying my self "Nothing to Lose"... lets try it...

After petition approval, the appointments were not available for next 3 months... but some how our visa department found out a date in next week.

So, this time, I didnt do too much preparation apart from the Roles & responsibility question, just to make sure I dont fumble on it and rest all are one liners , which I can answer it with ease.

So, as usual morning I did went for morning jogging and did started at 10:45, my appointment was at 12:00 PM.

So I got a token number, which actually is the number which usually most of them avoid saying its not a good number... But however you should take what is given... :)

Stood in line, already VFS lady took our 1797 and passports and gave it to VO, when VO is attending other person.

Then, VO called us

VO: Good Morning
Me: Very Good Morning Mam

VO: so which company do you work For
Me: YYYY

VO: Which Client you are travelling for
Me:

VO: What is your role at onsite
Me:

VO: Have you been to US before?
Me:

To My WIfe:

VO: Have you been to US Before?

VO: Which location you were in US?

VO: So how old is your Son?

She said in local language...Good Boy to my Son..

Thats it, we were done.

Finally. L1A Individual is done deal 8/9 out of 10 cases, unless our time is bad....

L1A Blanket Guys, You are not doing any thing wrong , just go with the mind set that "Nothing to Lose"... Its a luck factor... But 15+ exp would have more chances as per my experience...below 15 chances are less...

Finally, all the best to both Blankets and Individuals....

Details in petition is different than DS160
Friends,

Please advise on below situation. I appeared on consulate for my L1 Blanket interview on 11 Feb 2015 which was rejected with the reason Not Clearly Approvable. Later my company field L1 Individual petition(for a client ABC) with USCIS on Feb 2016 and got it approved on May 2016. Due to heavy rush in consulate for interview I got my slot on 30th Aug 2016(though mine was premium processing). Due to this long gap opening with client ABC is closed and same requirement on proprietary tool is opened for client XYZ. So I filled DS160 form with client XYZ details.

Now being petition has ABC details and DS160 has XYZ details, will there be a problem? Anybody else had the same experience in the past? Please advise.

Thanks,

L1 B visa at Chennai Consulate exp
Had my L1B visa at Chennai on 10 August post the biometrics in Delhi on 9 July.

Did not apply with family. Appt time 10:00 AM. Reached the consulate to join the line by 8.45 AM. After crossing multiple security checks, rearrangement of docs, paying the visa fee, finally reached the line for the interview with the VO.

While standing in the line, I could listen to other interviews happening at different counters. I could hear Visas getting approved and rejected. Though the rejection rate was limited as compared to the approvals.

Finally my turn came. The family ahead of me got approved their L1A visa and that made me nervous for the reason that the person ahead of me got approved and would I be successful?

VO - Please come.
Me - Good Morning. And with saying that I started to slide my docs through the counter but just stopped and withdrew.

VO - Good Morning, yes you can slide those docs through.
Me - sure, Thanks.

VO - (Unwrapped the docs) So Which company you work for?
Me - XYX (to the point)

VO - So what is your specialized knowledge or skill?
Me - Explained my skill to the point.

VO - So will you be working from client's location or company's location?
Me - Client's location. I had to say company's location so I quickly corrected myself and said - Sorry I meant Company's location. All my work has to be internal within my company.

VO - How long are you going to stay in US?
Me - xyz

VO - GOLDEN WORDS - Your Visa is approved. Allow me some time to prepare your docs.

I felt awesome and also bit surpreised since VO never asked my salary, my client, why only you and noone else and other related questions.

My take would be to be well prepared with not only your company's but also your client's information (revenue, profits etc because I saw some VOs asking those questions too). Be confident and rehearse yourself as many times as possible. Look straight to VO while talking and make sure your english is fluent. Make sure your specialized knowledge has an immediate impact on the VO and he should be convinced. VO doesn't even look at your knowledge and skills in your docs nor he has looked at those previously. So remember - Whatever you tell him, that is only gonna convice him. Your docs will not play a part anywhere except the final stamp.

I want to thank this community for the help and guidance and experiencec.

GOOD LUCK ALL!

L1 B Blanket Visa Interview experience
Hi guys,

This forum helped me a lot in learning the stuff and following is my interview experience

OFC-

I was pretty worried about making mistakes on DS-160 and booking an appointment. The process here is simple, though you made few mistakes in the DS-160 with which you have booked your appointment, fill in new DS-160 without errors and take the printout out of it to OFC appointment. People in there will help you in modifying. I was tensed about this and it turned out to be pretty straight forward.

My appointment was at 9:30 , i reached VAC by 8:15 and was out by 8:30.

Interview exp

My interview schedule was at 10:30 AM and i was there before consulate office by 8:30, i thought i would be pretty early, bu to my surprise there was a pretty big queue.

Employees in the consulate are pretty fast, they handled a large bunch of queue without any hassle. We were in by 9;00 AM

Once we go in to consulate it like cake walk, there are ppl to guide you, in the case of blanket L1, there will be a guide who would ask to seperate your I 129 S / I 797 first page (3 sets) with the demand draft for anti fraud( Make sure your DD is clean with out any signatures etc)

Just in case please carry a credit card.

Interview:
1. Which company you are working for?
2. What is your project?
3. What does your company do?
4. What are your future roles?
5. What did you design in this project?
6. Are you going to client place?

I prepared so well for the question such as specialized knowledge , purpose of visitt etc. but all i have observed there is your instant and confident response to consulate would do the technique.

Do not over prepare, Believe in You!!!! :)

Please do let me know for any questions, i will try my best to help

L1A experience in Chennai
OFC - pretty straight forward procedure, got appointment 22 Aug @ 1 PM, Enter at 12:45 and out by 1:10 PM. My wife and kid accompany me. Please make sure to carry Passport, DS160 and Appointment confirmation letter. They will put L1B at the back of Passport with interview date so don;t worry as all visa for L1 they will put L1B. Also you can carry your mobile and wallet inside just make sure to switch your mobile phone off.

23 Aug @ US consulate. My appointment was at 11 AM but we reach by 9:30 AM and they allow us to enter. AS we were with Kid and family special treatment given and we don;t need to wait in any lines.

Doc - Passport, DS160 stamped at OFC, 3 sets of 1797 and I129S and Demand Draft. Rest everything out as supporting documenet

Visa Question in order

How much experience in current Organization
What will be your salary in US
Job Role in US
How many reportee overall ( onsite as well offshore)

That's it. It was hardly for 2 minutes and he approved it.

My 2 Cents

Sell Yourself
Look into his eyes
Dress formally ( I was in formals + blazer)
Practice what you want to say
Be confident

In that bar code paper they mentioned L1B. $190. And interview date. Here what is the meaning of B in L1B. Since I am going for L1A blanket as mentioned in the my I 129 form. Apart from I129., Nowherw is mentioned that Whether I am going for L1A blanket or L1 B blanket.

Does it mean that B means in L1B in barcode chit is Blanket?
