L1B Visa was approved on 7-Aug-2012.
My L1B Visa was approved on 7-Aug-2012. The Counselor kept my passport with her.
Below is the exact conversation between me and the Visa Officer (VO).

Sandy - headed at the VO desk and wished her How are you doing ?
VO - I'm good, how are you ?
Sandy - good thanks!
VO - Who is your client ?
Sandy - ZZZ.
VO - Where are you going ?
Sandy - ZZZ.
VO - For L1B Visa, the primary qualification is the specialize knowledge, so what is your specialized knowledge ?
Sandy - I play major role in supporting the client proprietary tool.. (VO Interrupted in between..) VO - Specialized knowledge is not within the client tool, it is something specific to Accenture, have Accenture done any customization in the application ?
Sandy - Yes, my company has highly customized the xxx application explained the customization.
VO - What you have done in it ?
Sandy - I was involved in the.. (VO Interrupted in between..) VO - Were you only involved or did you worked in it ? Tell me specifically what you have done in the customization.

Sandy - Justified this Answer. VO seem to be satisfied.
VO - Okay..
VO - Everything looks okay Mr Sandy and we are done good here with everything. I'm approving your VISA. Please do not forget to carry the I 129S form with you while entering to United States, they will not let you in without it.

L1B Blanket approved on 7th Aug
I appeared for L1 B Blanket visa on 7th July and visa got approved. I am from a product company from Pune.

There were only 4 question asked to me

1. What you product do
>> Explained about product but not the way I was prepared. I was nervous and did not explain it very well
2. Indian and US salary
3. How long you plan to work in US
>>> 36 months

The entire process took not more than a minute. Even before the thirs question VO said "everything looks goods" and I approve your visa.

My observation
- Your company image matters a lot. A US based product company is always a plus
- You US salary plays an important role. Ensure that your company is paying you well in US if you are applying for L1 visa

All the best to all the aspirants.

L1B - Rejected
Dear friends,

I faced L1B interview today. Unfortunately i could not get the visa.

1) Which company you work for?
2) How long you are with this company?
3) Who is your client?
4) Which location are you going to travel?
5) Tell me what skill do you possess?
6) What is your project?
7) Is it a software like java or oracle something like that?
I briefed something about functional and business terminologies. I do not want to use any software.. tried my best to talk about my company proprietery tool.
8) This is a common skill set which we can find everywhere. Tell me about your specialization?
I explained the whole story..

She is not convinced.. typed something and told there are many types of visas, please ask your company to process another visa.

Thatsit everything is over..

L1B got rejected.
Hello friends,

Couple of questions were asked and finally it got rejcted. the questions were:

1.) which state you are going
2.) who is the client
3.) how much salary in India and states
4.) what specialized knowledge do you have
5.) why you are considered specialised for this tool.

I think the think that went not in my favour was i told i would be working on proprietary tool of TIBCO and it requires knowledge of programming languages like SAS,SQL. VO said these languages are very common and tool can be learnt by anone as it's middleware.

So friends my suggestion is never use any common language in your profile. Use the languages which are not so commonly heard and instead of using proprietary tool tell that you are developing compnay specific tool that you will be implementing for them.

Thanks.

L1B app
Got my visa approved @Chennai on 9th Aug.The interview went like a charm. I was asked only two questions pertaining to work (how long I have been working with my current employer and what I do there) and few more on my marriage and child's birth details. The VO then asked my wife couple of questions, and approved our visas. The entire process took about probably 3 minutes.

Though the interview was a charm for me,this site has really helped me a lot in my preparation. So I thought I must share my experience. Thanks a lot!

L1B Approved
Thanks to this forum. I could clear the L1B interview.

yesterday's instance of mine reminds me that sometimes we need to have divine grace as well to pass hurdles even if we have prepared well.

I had prepared well for the questions mentioned here. The interview went on like this

Me - Good Morning
VO - Good Morning

VO - You work at XYZ
Me - Yes

VO - You will be working at XYZ in US or at a client's place
VO - I would be working at XYZ

VO - Which project you are working in US
Me - I am working on so and so( starting lines went on fine but later couldn't explain properly )

Me - explained more about the application that i work by taking an example. Even here i couldn't explain as per my preparation

VO - How long you have worked in XYZ
Me - 5 years

VO - Designation
Me - Mentioned my designation

VO - How is your knowledge a specialized one
Me - explained again the features but couldn't get time to explain more as the VO was working on the computer.

Then came the golden words

VO - Your visa is approved. you need to take one copy to your port of entry.

I felt that VO would not approve my visa. But due to divine grace as well as my company's reputation i was provided with the visa.

L1 B is approved.
Thanks to everyone , your experiences helps a lot…
My L1 B is approved on 3rd of Aug at Chennai, It was really very good and smooth experience.
They have same question which are already updated on this portal.
Some tips -> Be Positive, Be Calm, Be Confident, Be Alert, wear a smile while answering.
My interview goes like this.
Me:-> Good Morning Officer, How are you doing(with smile)?
VO:-> Good Morning, How are you?
Me:-> Doing great, Thank you.
VO:-> Which visa you are applied for?
Me:-> L1B.
VO:-> L1B, so you must be specialize Person?
Me :-> Yes.
VO:-> What specialized skill do you have?
Me:-> Answer my specialized knowledge, with the name of proprietary YYYY tool?
VO:-> What is YYYY tool about?
ME:-> I explained in details (She only listen answer of this question, rest of the time she was busy in doing something on computer).
Here she was silent and busy by doing something on computer, but I keep talking and explain my role and responsibilities. But it seems that she was listening to me as well because immediately she asked me, SP in not proprietary tool?.
ME:-> Yes it is not, but using it I have developed this tool.
VO:-> Ohh Is it! So how many people have developed this tool?
Me:->Along with me there were 7 ppl.
VO:->Who was leading this project?
Me:->I was.
Then Golden word comes “Your VISA is approved”. Please keep these two papers with you because they need you while traveling to US.
Me:->Thanks you very much mam, have great day.
VO:-> Same to you.

L1B got approved
Hi Guys

My L1B got apporved on 31st July and as this site has contibuted a lot in my preparation, so i thought of adding my experience also.

Everything was same as was told in this forum so i will jump directly to question/answer part.

VO : (In bold voice) How are you (This happened while i was coming to the window.
Me : Gr8. How are you.

He took all my papers and checking something on the computer.

VO : so you are from xxx company?
Me : Yes

VO : so for which client you are going to xxx?
Me : xxx

VO : Why are you going to US
Me : Answered in 2 lines.

He cuts me in between

VO : so what are your specialized skills
Me : Gave the answer in 2-3 lines.

Wait for around 2 mins..

VO : So you have a valid B1/B2.
Me : Yes ( Guys in my case i already have it).

Now he started stamping my forms.

VO : When was the last time you travelled to US?
Me : in 2008

VO : I am approving your VISA and you will recieve in 7 days.
Me : Thank You

Well it was really a piece of cake for me and it lasted for about 3-4 mins. i was very nervous while going through because the guy in front of me got grilled for about 10 mins. Although he also got it but there was a series of cross-questioning.
Well i think the luck was in my favour.
Best of Luck ppl.

L1 B Approved
With God's blessings, i got my Blanket L B approved today.
In order to contribute to this wonderful site, let me share few learnings here :

Process :
1. Reach the venue 45 minutes before . Reaching an hour or more earlier than the appointment time doesn't make sense as you will be called for queue only 30-45 minutes before the appointment time.

2. Try not to carry cellphone and closed bags and sealed envelopes , it just adds to the process and spoils the whole time management.

3. Dress what you are comfortable with but you should look neat .

Interview :
1. Be prepared to be asked questions not in the order the way its mentioned in the forum like after greetings i was asked what i do . to my answer of "I am Product Manager for CDN in Tata Communications...." she cut me there and asked me next question if i invented the Product or myself developed the product . Its basically an indirect way of asking my specialization . So be prepared to be asked the questions which you think would be asked later in the begining itself and in totally different manner . So don't prepare your answers on sequential manner wherein answer to one question depends on the answer to previous question, each and every answer should be mutually exclusive.

2. When VO asks a question for which they are expecting answer in YES/NO, answer only in YES or NO. Answering something in "NO" doesn't mean it will go against our case . Like in my case , i was asked if i invented or developed the product to which i thought saying NO will go against my case, but i was truthful and said "NO". To which she asked another question "if you have not developed or invented the product yourself , how can you be specialised on this product " which i clarified and i think it was convincing enough as that made other question just a part of the formality.
So the point is , answer in YES or NO if asked in that manner and VO will give you opportunity to explain your answer .

3. Speak slowly and don't be verbose with your answers . First answer should be crisp and short and then ask for their permission if you can add further to that .

Rest , being confident, wearing smile and looking right into their eyes while speaking is something you already know.

Practice, Practice and Practice and then leave rest to GOD.
