L1- B Visa Approved on 8th June
A Big Thanks to immihelp. This site has really helped me to be prepared for my interview and I was confident enough.

Tips : 1) If you case is genuine and you deserve it then VO would definitely approve your case.Ask yourself first - why are you going ? and what specialized skills you have (if applying for L1-B) ? If you are able to convince yourself then you can convince visa officer as well.
2) Be confident and good communication skills would be icing on cake.
3) Be neatly dressed up.
4) Kindly don't argue and be courteous.

VO : Are you applying for L1-A or L1-B visa?
Me: L1- B

VO : Have you worked on L1 visa before in US?
Me: No

VO : Where are you going to work in US?
Me: I will be working at xxx location

VO: Are you going to work for multiple clients for this product ?
Me : No,then gave my explanation
VO : Okay!! (She smiles) ,now I completely understand. She then explained what she understood.
Me: Exactly

VO: Are you going to demonstrate this product or is it something you have implemented?
Me: No, I am not going for demonstration of this product. I have developed this product through my expertise on a,b and c.

VO: What work will you be doing for this product when in US?
Me: I will be doing ...( explained all my roles and responsibilities)

VO: What is you Indian salary?
Me: It is approximately x,xx,xxx INR annually.

VO: For how long you are expected to work for this assignment in US?
Me: I will be working for xx months.

VO: She starts stamping the form (gave back 2 forms to me after signing and stamping) and the Visa got approved
Me: Thank you.Have a nice day
VO: You too have a nice day

L2 visa interview waiver for NIV
Hi, I just noticed on VFS site about less than 7 yr old's have NIV waiver for visa interviews. I am unsure if my 4 yr old has to visit the consulate for her L2 stamping

https://www.vfs-usa.co.in/USIndia/pdf/MDBCStaticWebPage.pdf

Got my L1A done at Chennai last week, now need the L2 stamping for my dependent spouse and kid. Any light on this aspect would be helpful. Thanks.

Got L-1B and L2 (for family) [Chennai]
Thanks immihelp!

I went for visa interview on the 8th June 2012 along with my wife and 2 and half year old son.
I was asked following questions -

What kind of software you are working on?
What is your specialized skill?
Which place you are going to work in US?
Are you going to work for any client?
How long you are going to stay in US?
How long have you been working in India office?
Have you have ever been to US on work visa?
What is your salary in India?

To my wife -
When did you both get married?

IMO If your case is genuine then visa officer will not deny you visa.

They do not allow bags (cloth bags, very thick bags etc) inside the Consulate building.
Only folders and plastic carry bags containing documents are allowed.
But if you have kid with you then you are allowed 1 small bag to carry few food items for the kid.
There is one person (I think its not official) outside the consulate with whom you can deposit
the bags for a nominal fee (but the bags should not contain any document).
I advise to not to carry any bag other that folders and plastic carry bags.

Thanks immihelp and thanks for all the experiences in this forum. They really helped me.

It took around 1 hour for the whole process.

At the entrance of the consulate they give us a token, which will be our token number for the whole procedure.

While entering the consulate, security verification was done.

I have waited my turn, then submitted my documents.
There are screens which display the number.

After submitting the documents, They have scanned my finger prints.

Then they have asked me to go to the next building.

After paying the DD, I have waited for 20 min for my token number.

The officer took 2 min,

1. How long have you been working for xxx company?
2. Indian Salary?
3. Your Specialized knowledge?
4. Where in US?
5. Are you going to work for ur parent company?
6. How long will you be staying?

The came the golden words "Your visa is approved"

Overall, the officer was looking for if the Specialized knowledge is appropriate for the category...

Be confident and All the Best guys.......

Thanks to this website... however frankly there are more rejections than what we see on this site... I was in the queue and all 3 cases in front of me got rejected. 2 L1 B and guy just in front of me was applying for L1 A.

My experience:

4 simple questions:

1) How long you have been with XYZ (my employer). - X yrs and Y months (its more than 10 years actually)

2) What's your designation? - Program Manager

3) What is your salary in INR?

4) Which client you will be working for - To which I said multiple clients and named a few.

after the first question itself I saw him ticking the box... I feel its mostly pre-decided... I don't think they can decide in a 2 minutes.

Thanks for all the experiences posted in this forum they really helped.

Being a technologist working in the SAP space..coming up with an answer for the specialization question was really tricky. Fortunately my company has few proprieitory tools we utilize on implementation projects which really helped. Plus my long association with the same client..4+ yrs and 10+ yrs of core experience.

Questions :
1. What do you do for your company ?
2. Where are you going in the US ?
3. Which Client ?
4. What's your specialization ? after answering VO stressed that these tools must be used by lot of folks in your company in the US. For that i had to come up with a quick reply with which the VO was satisfied.
5. How long have you been working for this client ?

Thanks and Best wishes to all those you are going to be appearing for interviews.
