L1-B visa approved at Chennai
I have my L1-B visa approved at Chennai Consulate

Notes:
1. Reach the consulate 20-25 minutes in advance. I reached the consulate only 20 mins prior to the appointment time and the security staff immediately allowed me to get the token and proceed further. I was inside the consulate within 2 mins of reaching outside it. If you reach early you have to stand in the queue.
2. Mobile phones and digital watches are not allowed. Leather belts and leather wallets with cash are allowed.
3. I am not sure about whether they allow umbrella to carry inside if it rains. If any of you attend the interview on a rainy day, please share your experience here.
4. If your company uses attorney services then they usually send piles of documents, which is of no use. Only documents required are – VFS appointment letter, DS-160 confirmation page with bar code, HDFC receipts, DD of $500 fee, BEP (Company) letter, and 3 set of I-129s + I-797
5. Carry 1 photograph, however if the document collector feels that the photo you have uploaded on DS-160 matches the standard, they will return you the photograph. If they think it does not match the standard, they will ask you to take new photograph. The photographer is available inside the consulate and provides you the new photograph in 30 mins.
6. Make sure that you do not have any cuts on any of your fingers; they take the scan of all the fingers on each hand.

Interview:
My interview lasted for 5 mins. Following are the questions
Why are you travelling to US?
Are you going to client location or parent company office?
Tell me more about your specialization
How long are you with the current company?
What were you doing prior to joining the current company?
Then the VO told me that my visa is approved and return the 2 sets of I-129s + I-797.

Observation:
1. The VO was trained to access and interpret the various aspect my case correctly. The focus is more on the specialization.
2. If your skill sets does not belong to specialized skill set then they ask more questions to understand you case further. Example - Java developer is not a specialization.
3. If your L1-B visa gets rejected, do not panic. That only means your skill sets does not belong to specialized skill sets and H1-B visa is more appropriate for you.
