Hello All,
Me and my Husband went for the interview on 22nd June for L1, L2 (for me) visa stamp at New Delhi US Embassy. The VO asked nothing special that has not been mentioned here earlier. A big “Thanks” to this Blog, it really helped us to prepare for the Visa interview. Questions were:
To My Husband:
1.Which Visa have you applied for?
2.Which company are you working for?
3.What's your current responsibilities?
4.What is your annual income in India?

To me:
1.Who is this person standing beside you?
2.How long have you been married?
3.Is it love or arranged?
4.When did you guys meet?

Then, the VO asked us to stand for a while and he moved on from his seat. After a while he came back and said “Your Visa has been approved, but due to some technical issues the process may get delay. We will contact you within a week, if not you can contact us. You guys can leave now.” He kept our passport and the original I-797 Approval letter.
We were glad to hear the approval. However the technical Error issue made us tense. Fortunately, we received both the Passports with visa stamp on 27th June. But again, unfortunately the principal applicant name (my husband’s name in visa annotation section) displayed in the L2 visa of mine has a minor spelling mistake.
Again we went to New Delhi US Embassy, for the correction. It was very smooth process. I submitted my Passport in one of the counter. The Officer checked my husband’s Passport and then gave me a slip, where a token number was mentioned. It took one working day. I got my Passport with corrected Visa stamp on next day at 4 PM. Realy happy to have that.
Thanks
Tapabrata

L1 B Blanket approved @Chennai Consulate
Hi All

Immihelp is a great forum. I found it very very useful in my preparation. Following is my bit of experience.

Me : Hi, Good morning mam
VO : hey very good morning, how are you doing

Me : I am doing gud, what abt you ?
VO : I am fine

VO : Have you been to Chennai before?
ME : Yes mam, I was in Chennai for 2 years, I have worked here.

VO : For which company ?
ME : Infosys Technologies Limited.

VO : You make 2 lac a month ??
ME : (Puzzled) Nooo.

VO : In your DS 160 form its mentioned as 2 lac something. (Looking straight into my eyes)
ME : Mam, I think it’s the Indian equivalent of US salary which I will be getting when I will be working in US. (with confidence and looking straight into her eyes)

VO : Then whats your Indian Salary ?
ME : XX.xx lacs per annum approximately

VO : per month ? (her eyes were wide open )
ME : No that’s per annum mam (with a big smile)

VO : Oh that’s per annum. I was shocked. Ok Tell me about your specialization ?
ME : Explained my purpose of travel in 3-4 lines. Clear abstract and concise.

VO : For how many clients you have worked ?
ME : 3 so far

VO : Tell me the names of client
ME : Told them about the clients. (She was continuously doing something on her computer screen.)

VO : Come on that again. (She again asked for the name of client which I took in the last.)
ME : Its YYYY mam.

VO : Ok. (was doing something on her screen)

VO : (Started writing on my I129s) Your visa is approved. Keep these documents with you. We will send your passport in a week. Welcome to US. Have a nice day.
ME : Thanks a lot mam. Have a greatttttt day ahead.  (Smiles all over)

Some other tips :
a. Feeling positive is very very important. Be confident. Speak concisely and point to point.

b. Dont look at VO's hands. Let him/her do whatever they are doing, whether its typing on keyboard, writing something on documents. Dont look down. lukstraight into eyes.

c. Dressing doesnt matter because they will not look upon ur dress, but that doesnt means wearing anything. Dressing smartly will add to your total persona which makes an impression for the first time when VO looks upon u. And dats imp.

tThis site is very useful for preparing for visa and it helped me a lot. I am posting my experience which was held at chennai consolate.
Myself and my spouse entered interview counter. As usual i expected Vo would start the interview with my self but she started with my spouse as my wife was not alert at the moment, so i am giving the suggestion to both to be alert since Vo may start with any one.
My interview went like this
To my wife:
1)When did u get married?
2)where did u get married?
3)What is your husand father name?

next to me:
4)where you will be working in us?
5)which company are u woring for and from how long?
6)which client are you working for and for how long?
7)Tell me about your project?

and Vo is typing something and after 2 min she said your visa is approved.

My sugesstion to all is be cool and confident ,not be tensed, please listen to the questions asked by vo carefully, dressing does'nt matter.

All the best to all of you

Hi Guys,
This forum is great to prepare well for interivew. I would say it is based on your preparation and presentation on that day. But definitely luck also matters in going to right counter and depends on VO.
My experience was like roller coaster. I applied for L1B. When we were waiting in the line, my wife greeted the VO with a smile, but VO did not even smile back. She was very serious and she rejected 4 people infront me.
I do not want to waste your time with my complete conversation in detail. But I can tell all depends on how you answer for "What is your Specialization ? ". They ask several questions before just to bring you from tensed state to normal state (if they feel you are tensed). You need to convince the VO with proper answer for specialization. The VO was not convinced with my answer. She asked several questions about tools. I answered all of them. But she was in rejection mode. Some how, after seing my confidence, she gave pink slip. It is 221G form. I got my stamped passport after two weeks. Surprise..Usually they take 6 weeks time to deliver. But I got mine in two weeks itself. Happy Ending...

Tips:
* Though I read several conversations in this forum and prepared well, my voice was low and not very confident during my conversation. I felt I should have spoken better. What I would recommend is Be confident in such a way that if she rejects your passport how you would react to tell your specialization if one more chance is given to you. It is really my feeling when I came out with 221G form :) Hope my tip will help some people

* You should have been part of development of the company tools. Do not tell that you are just trained on them.

* eye contact is must

L1B got refused at Chennai on 2nd July
Thanks to immi help for being a platform for sharing experiences.

I was at Chennai consulate on 2nd for L1B visa interview and unfortunately it got refused by them. There were only 2 questions for me before I heard that lady saying sorry for not approving the visa request. No clue what she had assessed and how.

Q1: Whats your designation at current company?
Q2: Whats the years of experience at this company.

Thats it! She handed over a blue color 221g slip which had the same words of her written on it.

There was suspense till the last moment when she stamped with "Not clearly approvable" stamp. First she took a copy of I797 and 129 forms along with passport which made me to cloud 9 and she took green color stamp for approval and started saying "I'm sorry...." then she realized that she has taken the other one and took the bad one and stamped for not approving and also thrown me to the exit from all the clouds. I simply couldn't figure out whats happening, ofcos still no clue.

All the best for applicants.

Many thanks to this forum to help me in preparing for the Visa Interview. My interview lasted about 20 minutes and visa officer tried to grill everything out of me. But I tried to be patient and calm and responded well to the questions.

Here are the list of questions VO asked me:

1.How long you have been working with the company?
2.What do you do in YYYY X?
3.Who is your client?
4.Where are you going?
5.What is YYYY product about? What does it do?
6.What it runs on?
7.For how long you have been working in YYYY Language?
8.What is your specialized knowledge (Asked about 3 times)?
9.What is your Indian Salary?
10.What will you be paid in US?
11.How many persons working in YYYY Language in ur company?
12.How many persons working on YYYY product in your company?
13. Why are you selected for this position instead of others?
14.Team size in US/India?
15.What is your client requirement?
16.So Do you know YYYY technology also?
17.For how long you will be required in US?

I was tired at this point of moment and was thinking what is going on in VO mind. He had asked me almost all the questions listed in the forum. But finally he said the golden words that "I am approving your visa", I was filled with joy.

Main key: Company/product experience matters. Package has hardly any role with visa. Eye contact is also must.. They try to judge you from eye contact whether you are lying or not..Prepare well and Rest leave to the god..

Thanks,
Gautam
