Interview was on 18th morning and it was rejected.
1) Current designation and time with the firm
2) Your specialized skill : told him about the prop tools
3) My role at client location : answered him
He said lot many people know company prop tools and would be more than 100 people to know them at one time
- i answered that i have been working with the client for past year and know their process etc...
4) how long does it take to train a new guy on prop tools you said...
In the end he said that you visa in not approved and please apply for a different category of Visa.
Observed that most people coming and getting their Visa are H1 & F1. Rejections rate are still very high and even the auto driver knows that...i took one and he asked what happened...i told him..he replied 'L1B Hota'..he said 9/10 are getting rejected.

I had my Visa Interview for L1A - Blanket Visa at th US consulate in Chennai.
Hi,
I had my Visa Interview for L1A - Blanket Visa at the US consulate in Chennai.
I reached at 9:25 AM as appointment time was 10:15 AM.
Queue was long, but security guy asked 10:00 appointment to come at counter and then after some time he asked other whose appointment on 10:15 to come in front.
At entry they will gave you token slip with token number. After security check I was in the hall where others waiting for their token number to come on the screen with window they need to go.
Once your token number is displayed with window on which you need to go. The person on that window will sort your documents.
Provide your
1) Passport
2) Two copies of I-179 with petition
3) DD
4) Covering letter
5) BEP letter etc
The person will give you all there documents arranged with another print slip attached on that.
Go to counter 12 then and have fingerprint scanned. Then you are free to proceed to Visa interview lobby. In Visa interview lobby you need to go to cashier window to provide DD and HDFC receipt.
After then wait for your turn.
The following were the questions asked in the Interview
1. Why you are going to US.
Me:- This is for one of the client’s implementation work for YYYY X(Product name). For this client I am involved in initial development activities.
2. What is the name of client?
Me:- YYYY (She turned my covering letter and read line or two, on that the name was not mentioned).
3. What is your Indian salary?
Me:- YYYY X
4. What will be your salary in US?
Me:- YYYY X
5. What’s the duration?
(I heard it as what is the location, so answered as my US location. Then she asked loudly and slowly “What is the time duration you will stay in US”)
Me:- It’s 5 – 6 months.
6. What activity you are doing here in India for your project?
My roles as in development team in 2 sentences. (Never use word like implementation as I was going for the same.)
After this she took some of the rubber stamps she had and finally said that the Visa has been approved.

My L-1 B Visa blanket application was filed and I attended visa interview in Chennai on 22nd June 2012. My case was put under 221 G admin process for background search. Finally on 10th July I received my passport with visa stamped on it.
My Visa interview experience was very different than what I read here. I work for a product based company and my B-1 visa got rejected twice last year in December 2011. Visa officer asked for my support letter from company which states only I am qualified for this job and no one in US cant do that. I have filed some patent application, so while reading the letter he asked me only one question if I have filed the patents application. I said yes. He didnt ask me any question after that and put my case under 221 G admin process for background search. They took my passport and other related documents and gave me pink slip with case no. they asked to track my case on their website against my case no. Now after 3 weeks my visa is issued and I got my passport back.

Q1: Where are you coming from?
A: First I said Chennai then xxx Company, Chennai
Q2: So you had VISA before?
A: Yes(I had L1 before and had been in US for 2.5 years)
Q3: (Looking at something on screen)Oh, so you are going again for xxx client?
A: Yes
Next 2 were only statements before which she stamped the I129 forms.
Q4: With a smile, "you guys are with xxx like forever"?
A: With a smile, I said "Yeah, for almsot x years"
Q5: Are you guys handling complete IT of xxx?
A: With Pride and confidence, I said, my company is the technology partner for xxx client.
Then with a smile again, she said you will get your passport within a week and handed over the approved I129 forms.
Be calm and confident,

Overall my experience was mixed with confidence, fear and recovery. I lost some hopes on my first question of designation (I thought she will consider this as a wrong category of Visa) but I believe that the confidence in answering that question still kept me in race.
For last important questions, what will you be doing there and your specialized skills, Answer this in a constructive manner using simple language so that VO can understand
Eye contact and confidence is the Key!!!!
