L1B/L2
Hi all,
Thanks all for your valuable suggestions.

I am sharing my exp at US consulate Chennai for my L1B and L2 for my wife.
Result : Got Visa stamped for both of us.

I had a very good experience with the Officer at Consulate.

I believe i was at counter for Tamil candidates. Since no Tamil candidate was in waiting, i got my token assinged to him.

My intital Q&A was in Tamil
Officer:Do u know tamil?
me:I said i know little bit
Officer:Where are you coming from ?
me:i m from bangalore
Officer: I dont know kannada, so its better that we talk in English.
me: Ok.

Questions now started in English.
I had displayed my company id near to my pocket.
Officer: Oh you work for XYZ?
me: yes.
Officer: how long are you working for XYZ.
me: I am working for XYZ for the past abc yrs and pqr months.
Officer: Have you ever been rejected a B1 visa?
me : yes
Officer: Why was it rejected?
me: I said the reason for that.
Officer: How many candidates got rejected ?
me : I said pqr number of candidates from my team got rejected for the same reason last year.
Officer: What's your specialized skill?
me: I just explained him appropriately.

-- Next to my wife.

Officer: Madam, pls come forward.
Officer pointed at me and asked her. who is that person?
wife: He is my husband.
Officer: Are you sure , confident ?
wife: yes i am sure.
Officer: How long are your married?
wife: we are married for xyz years.
Officer: how was it through matrimonial newspaper/ websites / friends & family ?
wife: Through friends & family.

He typed something in his system and then started folding our papers and tagged it with our passports and put those into on small basket.
Then he said. so that's it, u can travel to US, your visa has been approved ; and have a safe journey.
Then gave back two copies of my I-29S document which was stamped with his name; and instructed me to give one copy ot HR and keep one with me while i travel. if i dont show this copy at Airport, u can come back to india the same moment you land in US. So its important to keep this document handy while you travel.
We thanked him and wished him a nice day ahead.

That's it.

L1A/L2 individual - Approved - Chennai May 15
Hi
It was a long journey for my L1A approval. I applied for Visa in the Month of March 1st week in my company and Submitted the documents in Mach 3rd week. Documents were submitted on April 1st week through premium processing and got the I797 in April 2nd week. The interview was scheduled on May 15th.
Went to the Chennai consolate at 9:30 AM and stood in the queue and got the token.

In the documents verification section, they asked me for a differnet photograph and it took 10 mins extra. After arranging the docs by the desi person, went to the ten prints.

They asked us to go to the another building for the interview.

We waited there for almost 10-15 minutes for our turn. The visa officer was very cool and the interview went smooth.

VO: Good Morning. how aer you today?
WE: Good thanks. how about you?
VO: Pretty good. Thanks. Documetns please.
VO: Where are you from?
ME: ZZZ
VO: How long since you are working there?
Me: 4+ Years
VO: Who is your clieint:
Me: YYY
VO: For how long?
Me: ZZZ Months
VO: Seems like you had most of the US visas in your passport, like B1, L1B etc..Did you travel on B1/B2 to US?
Me: No sir. But, I did travel on L1B for YYYY months
VO: Which Visa category did you apply now
Me: L1A individual
VO: mm. Individual.. Are you a manager? How many people are you managing?
Me: **** **** **** **** **** (Explained in just 2 sentences)
VO: Madam,(to my wife), Who is he?(referring to me)
She: My husband
VO: Are you sure??
She: Yes
VO: How did you meet each other?
She: YYYY YYYY YYYY YYYY YYYY XX(just in a sentence)
VO: Ok. your visa is approved and you will get it in a week.
We: Thank you officer. have a good day.
VO: You too..

Thanks for the support immihelp.

My 2 cents for the interview:

1) Be Confidence.
2) I have seen people wearing company id card etc.. I dont think, they are necessary. Just carry in case , if they ask for that. Since, your entire profile willb eweith them.
3) answer very politely, but firmly in short and crisp. please do not elaborate, unless otherwise necessary.
4) Please do not raise the voice, as the mike is much capable of managing your voice.

All the best.

L1 B Approved in chennai on 15th May 2012
Hi

I had an appointment today at 10:45 a.m in chennai. I reached at 9:45 a.m and had to stand in scorching sun. At 10:00 a.m they let us stand in shade. After that i was given a token number & allowed inside. The document verfication officer saw my passport photo & immediately asked me if i had 100 bucks. I said yes & offered her. Then she said, please go to last counter & get a photo without glasses & pay 100 bucks there. I was like what happened to picture as webpage accepted this pic. She said website accepts any pic. So, i went ahead to get a new photo. After that i was 10 printed & then went to submit my DD in another counter. It took me more than 1 hour to complete these proceedings & i was worried about my appointment time 10:45. There was no issues with timing & my number again flashed to go for interview with VO.

1. Why are you going to USA?
2. How long are you working with the company?
3. What would be you salary?
4. How long you would be there ?

Then she stamped on my documents & said your visa is aprroved.

I was very nervous but all went well as i had prepared by looking at questions on this forum.

INR and USD Salary Impact on Visa Approval
Hi,

Would like to know the impact of the INR and USD salary for L1 Visa. Does a good INR (seven figure) and USD (six figure) salary increase the chances of approval.

Thanks,
