L1A Individual & L2 Approved.
First of all I want to thank this forum for sharing thier experiences. This forum has helped me to prepare me for taking my interview confidently.
My Blanket L1A was rejected earlier and was told to file and Individual petition. I guess it is much easier to get the VISA based on Individual petition rather than blanket. Like someone in this forum said if once your blanket is rejected and you are told to file an individual petition , it should be easy for you.
My interview was scheduled in the morning at Hyderabad US consulate. I reached along with my wife and 1 year old kid. If you have a kid, you get a VIP treatment as you don't have to stand in any queue. You will get preference every where right from the main gate entry, BEP queue (where you will be collecting your docs earlier submitted), finger printing and finally interview. Following were the questions asked:

Me: Good Morning
VO: Hello
VO: How long have you been working with YYYY company
Me: XX years
VO: What is your educational degree?
Me: ZZZ, ZZZ, ZZZ
VO: When was your blanket rejected?
Me: ZZZ
VO: I am curious to understand how much time it took for individual to get approved?
Me: There is an internal approval process in my organiszation before an individual petition is filed. It took around 15 days from the date it was filled for individual petition to get approved.
VO: 15 days, that's great..
Me: Yeah, they filed under premium processing.
VO: which place are going to in US?
Me: ZZZ
VO: Thank you sir, Your visa is approved and your will get your passports back in a week's time.

NO questions to my wife.

Learnings:
1) Read the experiences shared in this forum for your visa category. These are really helpful
2) Understand your visa category and be prepared accordingly. This is very important. Do some research for your respective visa category and understand the criteria for eligible to be under it. If you are clear and confident about this then I think you are more or less through
3) Read your petition documents, support letters, online form throughly before interview. Make sure that information in this is consistent with your answers in the interview. This is very important and specifically with regard to work experience
4)Dress appropriately
5)Be confident. Confidence comes with preparation. So make sure you spend enough time for preparing.

Finally share your experience in this forum after your interview. This will inturn help others.

L1 B Approved @ Hyderabad
Hi..
For Our company, we had a very bad response till now. Ratio for L1 B rejection is high.

I really want to thanks immihelp site and the people who shares their experiences. It really helps a lot.

On 3rd Aug i had my interview @ hyderabad.
He asked me many questions:

For which company you are working for?
For how many years?
Why only you are going from your team?
What special knowledge you have?
Specially asked me the experience in particular specialized knowledge.
Explain him nicely.. donot use much of technical terms. jus explain in lay man terms.
What will be your work location?
where you going to stay there?
Are you married?

And finally said: You visa is approved.

Advice:
Dress decently, keep eye contact, be confident

This all worked for me.

All the best!!!!

L1B rejected at kolkata on 10-Aug-2011
Hi,

Questions asked:
How long have you been with current company?
Who is your client?
What are your specialized skills?

I think i was not confident enough to convince visa officer that i have specialized skills and got refused.

Be confident and maintain eye contact. Don't go with pre-decided answers.

BL1-B approved @ chennai
1. years of experience in current organization
2. specialization ( VO interuppted with different question, to get clear idea about the domain experience)
3. how many years worked in this domain
4. Overall experience

while explaining about specialization,VO constantly watched, once she satisfied, then she started typing something in system.

My overall perspective is eye contact and then convey clearly about specialization.

Issue with the way experience is posted
Hi all contributors,
I have been following this site since last month. Generaly users post their experience with YYYY and YYY, for obvious reasons of maintaining anonymity.

But since most of the questions are repeated especially 1 related to specialization,It would have been great if you can elaborate a lil. It would give us an opportunity to prepare better.
Thanks in advance.
Ujjwal
