Hi All,
My company applied H1B for me and it got approved .
My interview scheduled at 10:45 am Delhi VO and I reached 30 min before. I went in at 10:00 am and inside there was few system which were scanning your stuffs just like at airport. I got the token no C28.After sitting there for 20 min my number flashed on the screen and I walk to a gully which connect me to a big hall. I went to a counter where a lady check my all documents and put BEP stamp. Then I went to the counter where I pay the raised due visa fee after that my hand scan happen. They I sit for the interview. I observed that there was 5-6 counter and it was divided based on the visa category. I saw a old visa counselor officer yelling on a lady having a crying baby in hand, she was instructed her that please be organized before come to me. I saw one guy from HCL he got refused cause he could not speak about the project and he was really sad.

I feel responsible to post my experience as i got benefited from them.
I got my date on 10th-June-2010 10:15 AM.

Iam posting all my day activities as it can help you to avoid nerves ness .

08:00 am : Started my day.. from the bed.
08:30 am : After shower i went to Wardrobe and selected nice dark pant(Black) and cool formal (white with black stripes).
08:45 am : Pray (Hi god love you take care of my interview)
08:50 am : Documents checkup : - make sure you have all these documents :
                 *1. Consulate appointment letter -1 copy
                 *2. Conformation letter with bar code -1 copy
                 *3. Original Passport
                 *4. I-129s Form -3 copies(they take one and one we have to keep it safe and second we have to hand over to sponsored company)
                 *5. Latest Photo
                  5. Prev 2 months pay slips
                  6. Justification letter -1 copy
                  7. All Educational certificates -1 copy

09:00 am : Very important one - Do not dare to miss out your break fast (empty stomach can bring nerves ness on your face its true) and started in auto(in chennai actually i will prefer bus but today iam very bothered about my ironed shirt :-) )
09:30 am : Reached Consulate
09:35 am : One fellow came out from the office and shouting like below
                 "Only till 10:15 am appointments are allowed and please get your appointment letter and passport out"
09:40 am : Got into the security counter at entrance of the counter and showed my passport and appointment letter and one security guy came to me asked to lift my hands as he want to do some initial security check.
09:40 am : Grand security check with all my pockets and everything (please do not take any thing.. just take some liquid money in pocket not even keys cell phones)
09:45 am : One guide suggested me to stand in the left side snake line of my entry.
09:55 am : I got my tern this and conversation below :

               She : Give me your documents, Why did you said H1 you applied for L1-B
                 Me : Till this movement i did not felt any nervousness but this lady .. though i did not said any single word.. i don't why she said like that :-(
               She : Arranged all the documents and pinned in proper order. and scolded me for not written my passport number and name on the DD's
                 Me : Sorry .. written and gave it back.
               She : Go to that guy he will guide you --- by showing the guy who directed me into this line.
                 Me : Thanks.. she written as DD on top of my appointment letter

10:10 am : As i don't want to feel for that stupid duff lady words as i have to go long way i went to the guide again and asked where to go now.
10:15 am : He asked me to stand in line to pay my DD.
10:30 am : Just took the DD's and gave some acknowledgment slips pinned on top of my appointment letter to me.
10:35 am : Again i went to the guide fellow (nice fellow not gets irritated any point of time very cool) asked me to site in interview line in the same building but i can c the people with families he is asking to visit next building as it has so many counters to not to make them wait too long.. nice one ..
10:45 am : The lady sitting left to me is from same company i work for - did some chatting to avoid my nervousness
10:50 am : line moving very slow as we can c most of the people got approving their visa's
10:55 am : I said hello to the person who is sitting right to me
                 Me : hello where you work
                 He : I work for IBM and how about you
                 Me : I work for YYYY , whets your appointment time ?
                 He : 09:30 am .. (happy to here that as iam one step ahead of him though my appointment time is 10:15am) and about you
                 Me : 10:15 am .. i came before 45m of my time
                 He : Oom .. i came just before 15m of my time that's why late i guess
                 Me : Yaa it should be - and we both started observing the guys who is attending the interview

Our observations :

             1.Please understand the question properly VO(VISA OFFICER) shouting like sir please first understand what iam asking otherwise let me know i can repeat it again
             2.And after reaching the counter please do not kiss the mike you have at your end it can create some idiotic sound vessel kind of sound keep 10cm distance
             3.VO will ask you to keep one finger of yours on scanner just keep it for 10 seconds and remove do not wait for the VO conformation
             4.Then please do not behave too smart by keeping folder with you and providing the required documents as they are expecting .. problem here is with the communication you might
                not understand what VO is expecting simply give the folder VO will return your documents which is not necessary .
             5.By acting smart we saw some rejections .. if you make VO talk more you are out... please do not give chance
             6.Prepare for the manadatory question .. why only you ? try to say something which makes you uniqu.. thats all

11:30 am : Hey iam next .. before of mine was aproved
11:35 am : Vo : Next Please

             Me : Iam doing good as ever , How about you ?
             VO : With a healthy smile "fine documents please"
             Me : Given the file.
             VO :Please keep you right hand middle finger on scanner ?
             Me : Yaa done.
             VO : Is this your first company ?
             Me : No this my fourth company.
             VO : How many years of experience you have in IT ?
             Me : Total 6years into the same technologies.
             VO : Who is your client ?
             Me : Swiss Re Insurance Company
             VO : How long you have been working for this client ?
             Me : 18 months and 27days till today.
             VO : As you are applying for specialized category what's special about you.. and why only you ?
             Me : With the no hesitation "As iam the one who developed this tool and deployed in SwissRe-Zurich and client expecting same tool to be deployed in their Swiss Re -USA" So iam the only one who did this before and now has to be for USA.

** i went zurich for the KT purpose for 4weeks.Not exactly for the deployment as i said to VO (VISA OFFICER)

    "And the golden words here"

VO: Sir your VISA has been approved and you will get it in week days.
Me : Thanks and nice dress
VO: With a big smile .. cool thank you.

My Visa got approved today and it was a easy interview....

Me - GM MAM !!!
VO - GM... Your Documents
Me - Told Good (Thinking she asked HRU :-(, She politely asked your documents... I have already kept my documents... on seeing that she smiled)
VO - How much years of experience?
Me - Told...
VO - Who is the Client?
Me - Told
VO - How long you are working with this Client?
Me - Told
VO - What are you going to do in US?
Me - Told going to implement YYYY for new project for the client
VO - Your client is going for YYYY project... What are you going to do for that? (She was expecting my roles and responsibilities in that Project)
Me - I started explaining... After 2 to 3 lines She told ThankYou and me stopped...

After signing papers came GOLDEN WORDS!!!

Friends.... Be cool and be confident nothing else is required. Be What you are and not required to buildup yourself much... Silently observe how interview is going.. be calm... One of my friend sitting nearby was kept asking what questions were asked to the people who are done with their interview which irritated me little... Its not public exam so be calm and cool..

People there were very helpful... Also My Company did a great job in providing required documents perfectly including DD for additional fee. This helped me not to get tensed at the last moment.

My interview was in Chennai and I was with aroud 3 years experience in IT.
I went for L1 blanket but received a blue slip 221g marking "This case is not clearly approvable......".

I gone through all US embassy sites in India and came to know that my application was not suitable and they are asking for a different appropriate visa application.

Immediately my company initiated L1 individual (premium processing) and got the approval in 10 days.

Visa interview was very simple with basic questions.

Those who get blue slip 220g marking "This is not clearly approvable..." please convince your company that your cases in not rejected and but suspended till you go with another suitable application. You dont need a wait time to apply for another visa (if your company want to do so)

Finally i got my day to post my experience. I have been waiting for PA date for past 3 months.

Finally i got my date on June-09 at 10.15 AM.

I went to the Chennai Consulate at 9.15 AM. There were around 10 people waiting in the Queue outside the Consulate. As i already learnt that they will allow only before 15 mins of appointment, i was just roaming in the mount road.(There was nothing to do other than that).
Then i went exactly at 10.00 AM , Showed the appointment letter for 10.15 AM and got it sealed. Then after security checking i was allowed inside.

There was pre-Screening Center where they checked the documents and took the finger prints.
Then nearby was the cash counter, where we waited in queue and submitted the DD.
After this , i was asked to go to the last counter in the pre-screening area.

I have learnt earlier from my friends that we would be asked to go to next building where actual interview will take place.

Since they directed to a last counter in prescreening area itself, i was wondering what would be the additional process.

we were 10 people waiting in the queue and i was the 6th person. we saw the process there and it looked like normal screening process.
Then we topped one guy who had completed the process and leaving."What is the process being done here?". He said,"Its the final Interview " .

Then suddenly i got tensed. ANyway after seeing the process i slowly releived.
Luckily out of 5 people who had attended the interview, 3 got approved. Some how i got the feeling the i will be able to do this.

Follwoing was the conversation.
when my turn came time was 11.30 AM
Me: Hi Good Morning.
VO: Very Good morning.Please give me the documents.
(I submitted the documents through the glass window)
By the time attender there came with coffee and snacks and stood behind him.

VO: One minute please.
Me: OK.NP
(VO was took his snacks and placed it on the table adjacent to him).
VO: Sorry for the Delay.
Me: It is fine.No problem
VO: Can you place your right Index Finger on the Red Square light there.
(I placed as he said)
VO: Who is your client?
Me: ZZZ
VO: Who do you work for?
Me: YYYY Company
(By this time i was still having the index finger pressed.)
VO:You can let it go off now.
Me: Oh ok.
VO:How long you have been with this client
Me:I have been with this client for 2 Years and 4 months i.e from Feb 2008.
VO:What will you do in US?
Me: I will be developing new modules in an application called YYYY using the YYYY framework which is my specalisation.
VO:Your visa is approved.
Me:Thanks

Collected the documents and came outside.

I was not beliveing myself because of recent rejections.

And all the activities have been done in a single room today different from others experiences where they have been asked to go to different building.

My visa was scheduled on 8th June 2010 at Mumbai. If u are with family they give preference. As soon as I went there, they took the docs and call us inside. After we went inside they call us for finger scan and then immediately for interview. It was really fast.

Here was my questions:
VO: Hi, how are you?
Me: Fine sir thanks, How abt you?
VO: Good.
VO: What's your name and DOB? (to me and my wife both)
Me: Told him
VO: Why are u going to US?
Me: Explained him
VO: Why only you?
Me: please be very careful abt this answer as you are going for spec. knowledge position
VO: Who is your Cleint?
Me: xyz
VO: Where r u going?
Me: abc state in US
VO: How long have u been in current company?
Me: a yrs and b months
VO: Have u worked in any other company?
Me: Yes, abc company
VO: O'Great with a Smile (as he know that company)
VO: are u working? (to wife)
She: yes/no depends
VO: How long have been for yr marriage and Where it was? (to wife)
She: Answered
VO:How many ppl attended marriage? (to wife)

VO: Smile, so many...

My L1B got approved today. Thanks a lot for people who had posted their experience.

My interview went smoothly and VO was Very very cool.

Questions asked.

1. Who is your client?
2. How long you are working for this client?
3. What are you going to do in US?
4. Why only u? why not others?

He typed for minute or so and said that VISA is approved.

You can see that the questions are not different from ones posted here. All that matters is what and how you answer for them.

The basic thing u should do is to make VO to believe that u are going to do something that u only can do.

In my case, i answered for 3 question as
- I am going to do enhancement work on a module for which i have done the design and evelopment.
- From this ans it implies that i have a specialized knowledge that only a few people have.
For 4 question - To narrow down that only i can work on the enhancement - i replied like
- It was 2 memeber team that developed this module and the other person is occupied in another enhancement and is not available right now. I am available for this assigment.

Thats all..

Other points to note are
1. Prepare a sound answer for the general questions and practice, practice and practice them.
2. Please do a mock interview sessions with your friend and get his feedback. The reason is 'We think that we can manage and asnwer'. But believe me, when it comes to real, most of the time, we fumble and won't asnswer what we have prepared.
3. What ever preparation we make - in your PA session - the atmosphere will surely put pressure
- It will be crowded and u can see people getting rejected and approved - u may here a different question that u havent prepared - u may seem to forgot what u have prepared and so on...
- One thing u can do to avoid this atmosphere pressure is to visuslize your interview and mentallly run it as many times as possible.
I know it is weird.. lol.. but it helped me a lot.

Questions Asked to me:

2. Total Experience?
3. Who is your Client?
4. How long are you working for this Client?
5. What do you do for this Client?
6. What is your project about?
And then comes, Your Visa is Approved.

Since I had huge Clod and Caugh, I was not able to Speak & Hear properly. Hence asked the VO to repeat each and every question very casually, and ofcourse even the Approval statement.

So Guys, do not be Panic, just be Confident & Casual, and you will be able to scrap the interview.
