Hi All,

This is really a very good site for people who are new for applying US visa.

I had my interview and finsihed it within 20 minutes in chennai.

Few tips and suggestions
1. Do not carry mobile, digital diary, camera or
   pen drive.
2. Carry additional cash if you don't have DD
   of required amount. No credit card or Debit
   card accepted.
3. Carry two folders.
4. In primary folder keep Visa appointment
   letter and passport on the top, petition
   document (remove stamples if it is there),
   Demand draft (write name and passand backside
   of demand draft) and recent passport
   Photographs as per rules.
6. In secondary folder keep degree
   certification, transcripts, experience
   letters, payslips and bank statement and
   other documents
7. Hand over visa appointment letter and
   passport to security
8. Security check-in
9. Hand over primary folder to officer for
   document verification
10.Once document verification done, officer will
   ask you to scan left hand 4 fingure, right
   hand 4 fingures and then both thumb at a time
11.Submit Demand draft in cash counter
12.Join another line for visa interview
13.Smile and wish to the officer and be
   confident.
14. You are representing your company and
    yourself so be confident.

                 
Interview questions :
VO: Hi Good Morning Sir.
Me: Very Good Morning Sir.
VO: Your documents please
Me: Yes Sir and provided the document primary
    folder
VO: How long are you in this company?
Me: YYYY years and YYY Months.
VO: How many are going with you in US (looking
    into 2 passports) sir ?
Me: I am going alone sir. Both are my passports
    (new and old)
VO: What are you going to do there?
Me: Explained about project, my role and
    responsibilities, talked about company
    methodologies, policies and project
    framework.
VO: Have you worked such kind of project in past?
Me: Yes sir
VO: Which companies you worked in past sir?
Me: Answered (xx and yy)
VO: I am happy to approve your VISA please scan your fingure.
I am keeping your passport and you will get it within 2-3 days by courier.
Me: Thanks much sir
VO: Have a good day Sir
Me: Have a good day to you sir

Be calm, cool and confident (3C) and all the best to you.

All,
My interview was at 11 Am and we were there at 9:30 and they allowed inside at 9:45.
We were waiting for our turn and the interview went like this:

VO: Hi Good Morning. Documents please.
Me: Good Morning.
(After finger scanning for both my wife and me)

VO: How long are you in this company?
Me: YYYY years and YYY Months.
VO: Total experience ?
Me: AAA.BB years
VO: Who is your client?
Me: XYZ Company
VO: What are you going to do there?
Me: {explained}
VO: Why it can't be done by a person there and only you?
Me: {Explained}.
VO: Which place in US are you both going?
Me: Answered.
VO: Give me your marriage certificate?
Me: Given.

After few seconds of silence, the golden words came " YOUR VISA APPROVED AND YOU WILL GET IN A WEEK".
me: Thanks.

there were quite a few rejections.Luckily, nothing happened to us.

Today was my Visa Interview date. I went along with my wife. Everything for us took around half an hr to complete.

Below is the discussion:

Me: Good Morning
VO: Very GM
VO: Documents Please
Me: Gave the documents
VO: From how many years you are working for your company?
Me: 6 years 3 months
VO: Who is your Client?
Me: YYYY
VO: What to do you do for Client?
Me: As a lead I do prepare test strategy, test plans, allocate the tasks, Monitor.
VO: When did you get Married?
Me: Around 6 months back.
VO: Is it Love or arranged marriage?
Me: Arranged Marriage
VO: How did you both meet?
Me: At her Parents house
VO: How do both of your parents know each?
Me: Distant relation
VO: You have marriage certificate?
Me: Yes. (Gave the folder to the VO)
VO: How many people came?
Me: For reception xxxx and Muhurath xxx ppl
VO: Thanks , gave back the documents.
VO: I am approving your Visa. You will receive the passport in 1 week.
Me: Thanks.

All the process just took less than half an hr. If by chance you take mobiles, you can deposit at the entrance by paying Rs.10.

This is a veru good site for people who are new for applying US visa.

I had my interview today, and all finsihed in 30 mins of time in chennai. It happened all very quickly....

The same process was followed as described by others till i reached the interview window.

they asked me 3 questions :
1. how many years in the company
2. which project
3. what will you work on.

I replied to all the 3, then she asked me to place my left hand middle finger on the scanner, and she asked me if I had applied for US visa before ... I said no....

she said your fingerprints and detials match with someone else in US so they need to verify.

She said - I have no issues in approving your visa but we need to verify certain details .... and she kept the passport...

she said we will send you the passport in 1 week ...

I am not sure if my visa is approved or not .. did anyone face similar thing anytime ... please advice

Hi all,

It was a great day for me, because i got my VISA approved today.
I was very tensed about the preparation. But i kept my self calm and confident.
and than i got my visa done.

My interview was scheduled at 9.00 am.
I reached there by 8:15. the security guards didnot allowed me to park my bike and my bag.
So i have to park my bike outside very far from venue.
I t made me more tensed.
But still i controled my self. I reached to the place where i need to br in queue. after watching queue. I felt very lousy.
The security guard checked my appointment letter and passport and asked me to head towards the security checked counter.
There also a long queue. It was my turn. I need to took off my rings, belt,watch.
than they returned it to me after check.
than i headed to a another long queue. there by luck or can say coordinator was very nice, they asked me to come in different row and asked me to collect my all the documents which i submitted three days before the inrterview to VFS.

After collecting the docs i moved to cash counter where i submitted my DD.
than after waiting for 10 mints i moved to Thumb scanning counter. where they took the finger prints of my left hand first than right hand and than both by thumbs.

 No worry they will help you.
than i waited for 15 mints they had given me mine token number.
than one coordinator called my number and asked me to wait in queue.
I was arranging my docs. than i saw one english woman was collecting docs and doing somthing. i didnt notice. she was sitting in a counter.
Than she called me up. than she asked my about my company, client and my specialisation.
till than i managed my self and anwser politely.
Than she told me the golden words.
still i was in dilemma. finally i was very happy.

what i advise you is to keep your documents in order. Be calm and confidence. dont fear.

My L1B visa got approved yesterday. Be confident is only funda to clear your interview. My interview was like - At window 13 Mumbai

VO : Good morning.

Vo : Whats your desigation?
Me : Associate Consulatant.
Vo : Why are you goint to US?
Me : I said ...
Vo : Why you only?
Me : explained
Vo : Whats your experience with this org?
Me : I said in months - 45 months and 3 days
Vo : In years?
Me : 3 years 9 months 3 days
VO : Whats your project?
Me : Lynx, IMS Admin
VO : What is LYNX?
Me : i explained in 2 lines(she smile when said its related to bankrupty)
vo : who is your client/
me : i said ...
Vo : are your married?
Me : no.. single
Vo : your VISA will courier within 3 to 4 days
Me : Oh... thanks mam

My Visa Interview time was at 8:30 AM in Mumbai consulate, However I have reached there at 7:15 AM itself. Since it was raining, everyone standing outside are called inside irrespective of interview time.
The initial finger print process was done after receiving the token number and other documents in the reception counter.

I was waiting for 1 hour and my token number was called. I was the second person in the queue for that particular counter. The first was a couple of newly married i believe. Their interview went on for 3 minutes and they got the visa approved.

I went inside and the following conversation happened...
I: Hi, Good Morning
VSO: Hi, Good Morning, How are you?
I: Great, How are you?
VSO: Great. (after looking into my documents) You are working with YYYY company?
I: Yes
VSO: How long you are working in YYYY ?
I: ** months in YYYY and ** months in YYYY project.
VSO: Is this your first time to US?
I: Yes
VSO: Why should I send you sir?
I: (I said about my experience in my project)
VSO: Where are you going in USA?
I: xxxxxx
VSO:(He smiles)Its good place to go at this time(After enterning few details in the documents and returned 2 copies of I129s)Your Visa is approved and you will receive your passport in 2 working days through courier.
I: Thank you

Thats it... Now I am waiting for my Passport

Hey guys thanks for sharing your views/experiences on this forum .It really helped me in prepartion for facing this VISA interview.
I had my VISA interview at Mumbal Consulate on May 21 at 8.30 AM. Few suggestions before i jump to quetions :
There is strict security check so guys it is advisable to leave your wallet,belt,watch in the Cab.Otherwise sometimes during the
security check they will stop you from carrying this items inside.Please carry 400-500 Rs in your pockets.You can carry plastic carry bag and transparent plastic folders.
to have your certificates.Ensure that you have your proper breakfast since there is really nothing(no hotel)to have breakfast.Sometimes people are kept waiting 2-3 hours in the
Line(queues) on the road near consulate.Better you carry on spare Shirt/T-shirt as there will be lot of sweating happening to you either
due to HOT summer humid weather or your own nervousness.......:

Enough of preaching , Now let's move on to the actual game ..
 For me when I was standing in the L1-B Balnket Line(Queue) outside the consulate some indian persons of the consulate will
collect your Passport and DD and will give you the Token Number.You will be called by this token number through out your interview process.For me after a long wait
of 3 hours they called me inside the consulate.On that day they had allowed people with H1-B and L1-B Blanket who had family to enter the consulate first.
Inside office it is A.C.and comfortable seating arrangement.You can have refreshments there in the form of Cold Drinks and Sandwiches chips etc.There is also rest room there.
There are approximately 20 Visa officer counters/windows/small cabin (interview room).
You will have your fingers scanned first before you appear for the interview.I had my interview around 1.15 P.M

Lady(VO):Hi sir
Me: Hello madam,Good Afternoon
VO:So, sir can you plz hand over to me your token
(I gave the token )
VO:So Sir,I can see that you want to go to U.S, can you tell me what you will do there?
Me: yah, i will be working as onsite co-ordinator... I will do ....blah..blah)
VO:So who is your client?
Me:xyz is my employer and abc is my client.
VO:How much exp. you have with your current company?
Me:around x.y years
VO:Ok.so what are your specialized skills?
Me: Ma'm i am xy exp in xyz technology . i have taken 3-4 certifications...I have gained confidence of client and blah blah blah...
VO:Ok sir, that was good. So i am approving your VISA petition.You will receive your passport in 3-4 business days....

Ohhhhhh!!!!!what a releief i got on hearing those golden words(?)......

So overall it is cool process provided you have confidence on yourself and lot of patience.sometimes things do not happen as quickly you will expect them to happen.
It is advisable to bring as much as supporting docs you might require to prove your point(like external certifications,income-tax acknowledgement slips,all marksheets,salary slips)
They will ask you quetions to check/verify only one basic thing that the person standing in front of them appearing for the interview is the same person who has prepared his justification letter.
Thats' a normal cross-check!!

Being located at chennai, can I attednd L1B interview at Hyderabd? Will this create any problem at the time of interview? coz my blanket and DD all haviing chennai address..

Since It looks like in chennai, there are may recent rejections happening..
