L1B Interview at Chennai
Hi All,
A big thanks for posting all your experiences which helped me a lot in getting my L1B stamped successfully.
Following is my experience :
My interview was scheduled at 12 pm noon on Jan 4 th. I reached the consulate exactly at 11 am.
I felt i need to wait for long before entering the consulate but suprisingly the security officer let me in after checking my appointment letter etc. I guess the crowd was less that day.So, by 11:10 i was in and went to the prescreening counter after further security checks.
At the prescreening counter all my docs were validated and all 10 fingers were scanned. Then i was asked to enter the visa lobby. There i saw ppl waiting in the queue for their turns.I sat in one of the lobby chairs and clearly observed the interview scene and prepared myself. After 30 mins , all who had their appointment at 12 am were called and now i stood in the queue.I was getting nervous as the queue moved.Suddenly, myself and few others who stood before me were asked to move to a counter. The VO at that counter appeared to be a cool person.
He greeted me with a smile :
VO: Hi, How r u doing?
Me : Im doin good. How r u?
He smiled again and i handed over my folder.
He was typing something and checking my docs.
Then he asked me to place my right middle finger and then index finger on the scanner and verified it.
Then,
VO: So, How long have u been working for XYZ company?
Me: Im working for XYZ for the past 1 yr n 2 months
VO: Which client r u working for?
Me: Im working for the client ABC.

Ur Visa is approved and u'll recieve ur passport within few days.

Thats it.

I thanked him with a smile and left the place happily.

So guys, be cool.VOs are all freindly ppl and u need to b the same towards them for getting ur visa done. All the best !!!!!

L1 Blanket - BLUE 221(g) form
Here is the discussion I had at visa interview

Q1) How long you are working with Current Company?
A: 2 years (VO entered the something in his system)
Q2) what’s your total IT experience?
A: I have 2 years and 9 months experience

Q3) Then he looked keenly into petition documents i.e. I797 and I129 especially last page of the document of I129 and asked me about the support letter
A: Then I replied him to kindly refer the last document in the green folder. As per my reply he looked in detail into specialized knowledge section of the document for nearly 1 min and told me like “this support letter talks about the duties of application development, production support and maintenance and the kind of visa you are getting processed may not suitable”. After that he gave me the blue form by ticking following section.

Your Blanket L-1 application is not clearly approvable under section 8 CFR 214.2(I)(II)(D) and INA 101(a)(15)(L).

If any body faced same situation please advise me what it means and what need to be done further.

Thanks,
Ranga

L1B interview at Chennai Consulate 08 Jan 08 @12noon
Hi All,
Thanks a lot for sharing your experiences with all VISA aspirants like me.

My interview was at 12noon.
By 10.30 I reached consulate. Since the interview was at 12pm they asked me to come at 11.30…
Till then I waited at the bus stop.. Thank god the whether was good :o)
By 11.15 I went there and they checked my passport and interview letter and allowed me to proceed.
First security check, then a queue to get documents verified and fingers (all 10) scanned. After that they made us wait for almost ½ hr at the counter.
After long wait, we went to the main building; I joined a queue to face the interview. Seeing others getting rejected and the officers looking unhappy at the reaction of rejected candidates, I was tensed.
When my turn came, I smiled and went to the counter and greeted the officer. He accepted my greetings and wished me!.. That helped a lot; I was all set to face his questions.
But he asked only 4 simple questions:
1. how long have you been with your organization?
2. whats ur specialization?
3. how long have you been working on that?
4. Who is the client?
5. Place your right index finger on the scanner.

After this he kept on checking and signing on some docs.
Then came the golden words!
Your visa will reach u in two weeks time, all the best.
I thanked him wholeheartedly and came out of consulate.

Tips:
• Don’t worry about what is happening around you at the consulate.
• Keep calm
• Greet the officers and have a smiling, pleasant face
• Be confident on your area of expertise
• Answers should be in one small crisp sentence. Max of two sentences.

L1B Blanket at Chennai US Consulate
Thanks a lot for all those who have posted their experience.
I had my L1B Blanket interview at chennai on 2nd Jan at 10.30. I reached there at 9.40 am and the security told me to come at 10.00. I waited outside for 15 minutes and went again. I handed over my appointment letter and paasport to the security and they let me inside. After the security checks inside I went to the prescreening counter where prints of all 10 fingers were taken. The lady kept my folder and told I can wait in the next building (visa lobby). There I waited for 1 hour. At 11.30 I got my folder and was told to stand in a queue. At 11.50 came my turn. The officer was a nice person and I have been watching him during my waiting period. Actually I have come back from US on L2 visa especially for L1 stamping. So my L2 visa was valid for 1.5 years more.
Me: Good Morning and Happy New Year
VO: Happy New Year, How are you?
Me: Fine , Thank you
VO: Is your husband still working for ABC Company
Me: Yes, he is still in US
VO: How long you have been working for XYZ company?
Me: n years
VO: Who is your client?
Me: m company
VO: How long you are working for this project?
Me: This is my first time. But I have been working for another similar client on same domain, technology and proprietory tools.
VO: How long you have been working for that client?
Me: 2.5 years
VO: place right middle finger on machine
Me:done
VO: What is your specialized knowledge?
Me: working on __ technology for n years and specilaized in proprietory tools _______

VO: took all 3 copies of I-129 and spread on his table. Then he took my passport and a seal. He was going to cancel my L2 visa (when a new visa is approved usually existing visa will be cancelled). So I thought , ok my visa is approved. But suddenly he stopped (he almost reached my L2 visa for cancelling) and put aside the seal. He looked at visa and was thinking for a half a minute. I thought thats the end, looks like visa is not approved.
VO: I am not cancelling this visa. When you enter the country, tell them you are coming on this new visa (pointing to I129).
Me:(That means my visa is approved!)Thank you
VO: Put seal on all I129.
VO: Passport will be courired to you. Have a safe trip
Me: Thank you and Have a nice day.
VO: Same to you. Bye bye

I came out at 12:00. This site helped me to prepare for interview and to be cool. So guys, best of luck for you.

Successful Completion of L1-B Blanket Visa Interview @ Chennai
Hi All,
Here is my experience; hopefully it will be helpful for other US visa aspirants.
I had my L1-B Blanket appointment at Chennai US consulate on 2nd Jan 2008, 11.15 am.
I reached the consulate at 10 o’clock, not many people were at the entry counter. One of the security guard came upto me and asked me my appointment time and I replied to him (11.15). He asked me to go back and come again at 11.30. I was bit startled with this response as I had gone through this site before and everybody who had posted their experience had entered the consulate well before time. So, I asked another security guard and he asked me to join the queue and there I was asked to show my Appointment letter and passport. After which I was let inside immediately followed with some security check. (Note for ladies: To avoid lot of security checks please carry a small hand purse)
I then entered the document prescreening area where I was asked to join one of the queues for the prescreening counter. There the lady checked all my documents and then I was asked to give prints of all my 10 fingers. Then I moved to the Visa lobby (next building) where I waited for about 45 minutes to get my folder back.
After receiving my folder I was asked to join a queue for the visa interview. Finally came my turn:
Me: Good Afternoon
VO: Good Afternoon, How are you?
Me: Fine, Thank you
VO: How long are you with XYZ Company?
Me: 2 years
VO: Reading my documents carefully….asked about the tools that I had mentioned in those documents.
Me: Explained all of them in small sentences.
VO: How long are you with ABC clients?
Me: 1 year and 10 months
VO: (Asked me some question which I couldn’t follow. I asked him to repeat). Why was I going to onsite?
Me: Told the reason and the project I would be working.
VO: Why are you going now after 2 years and not earlier?
Me: (Little nervous as I was not prepared for the question)….Answered saying that as the scope of the project has increased the requirement at onsite has also increased which wasn’t the same earlier.
VO: Place right middle finger on the finger print machine.
Me: Did it.
VO: Typing something in the system… What are you going to do there? And explain about your duties?
Me: Explained about my role and responsibilities at onsite.
VO: Your Visa is been issued, you will be getting your passport in a week. Have a safe trip.
Me: Thank you.

I was out by 1.00 pm.

So guys stay cool and be yourself.
Big thanks to this website and all of those who posted their experiences. It helped me a lot in my interview preparation.
All the best.
