Hello, I have a simple question. I received the interview letter from uscis for N400. But i have a "issue" with selective service. I arrived in the USA one month before turnning 26. I thought selective service was automatic like almost all over the world. and family who sponsor me didn't care to much for me to do documents etc. So I have to do everything alone. after several month I Enrolled in college and got accepted in public college for accounting. Fafsa officer believed me and they gave me loan and scholarship.

I applied for n400 in september 2019 two months before turning 31 years old. couple of day I received a interview letter from uscis NY. Today I'm 31 years old and after few weeks I will turn 32. Do I have to worry for selective service? What the suggestion?

I wanted to share my experience with people who might have been in my shoes and was worried sick over the whole citizenship process. I applied for my citizenship(marriage based) in November of 2019 and had my biometrics about a month later. After waiting for 10 months with corona virus almost being an impacting factor, I finally received my interview letter to go for my interview at the Baltimore field office on sept 29th.I arrived very early, probably one of the first people to get there and was allowed in about 15 minutes early. I had to wait for close to an hour with people that even came after me being called in for their interviews or whatever they came for. I was finally called after about an hour and a half and the IO did apologize for keeping me waiting that long.He seemed ok at first and as soon as we entered his office, he told me to swear to say the truth. He asked me for my name and birthday and after that he kind of changed and became somewhat stern. He started to ask me questions about my ex husband whom I had divorced for more than 6 years and who didn't even petition for me and we also did not even have any children together. I felt that was strange that he never even asked one question about my husband or my kids but only told me to verify my children's names. He also started to ask about how many people live in my house and if my mother lived with us which i found also strange(how is my application about my mother lol).At that point i had lost interest and did not even remember the questions he asked on the civics test or the writing test but all I know is that I passed lol.Afterwards he printed a form and handed it to me and told me that i passed the civics and writing but that he couldn't approve my application that day and that they will review it some more and get back to me.How long will it take i asked and he said it may take close to 120 days. I left really disappointed because I and thought that I will get a congratulations and oath ceremony that day. That Tuesday was probably the worst day of my life. I refused to eat and was just destabilized. My husband was disappointed too but kept telling me not to worry. I have no criminals records, and pay my taxes, so I wondered why someone like me will have issue.Anyways,i went online and kept reading stories from other people on this site and other sites with their own experiences and that made me feel even worst. Now let me get to the good part. The next day, I decided to check my status and lo behold, I saw in line for oath ceremony. I couldn't believe it.It said that they had approved my application and that they will schedule my interview. Even though I saw that I was still worried being that Baltimore is always so busy but at least I was happy that i had been approved. Today I checked my status and it said that my oath letter has been mailed. I wanted to eased the minds of others who went through what I went through. Please be patient and believe that you will get it. I think that some IOs are just mean and dont like to approve right away or they are just not at the level to approve without a supervisor signing off.

N-400 Baltimore field office
Hello guys!!!
Yesterday i attended my interview with a name change and it all went well, the IO was really nice and courteous. My interview was scheduled @ 2 pm. Went through security, checked in and was told to go have a sit and wait.
After a 15 min wait, the IO came and got me, she went through my application
(i had few tickets in the past and She wanted more information) she kept typing on her computer i was really nervous. she then told me that she made some changes on my application.
She asked me the civics questions, got them all. Writing and reading as well

1)where the statut of liberty is located
2)Who is the president of the US now
3)What is the rule of law
4)What happened on sept 11
5)what is the capital of the US
6)What the president’s cabinet do

She congratulated me, and told me she was going to recommend my application for approval.
I was told to keep an eye out for the oath ceremony letter. I hope i comes fast, im trying to vote asap.
Tnx guys for your posts it helped me navigate through this process. Wish you guys all the best in your journey.
God bless you all🙏🏾

my timeline:
*dec 2019: applied online
*Jan2020 : fingerprints done
*Augt2020: interview notice
