N-400 & I-751 combo interview - Dallas - Approved
Hello everyone...
I want to share my N-400 & I-751 combo interview experience here at the Irving, TX USCIS office.
To begin with I received the interview appointment letter for N-400 only, nothing came separately for I-751. I was told earlier by USCIS that since both my petitions are pending, they would be adjudicated the same time, & my attorney confirmed the same possibility as well. Hence we prepared all our supporting accordingly for both the cases, & went to the interview with my U.S. citizen wife & our infant son.
The interview was at 11:15 AM, & I got called in at 11:25AM. When IO came out & called my name, & saw my wife & son were coming with me as well for the interview - he never objected or asked anything, who is who. I am sure he already read my file & knew about the pending I-751 alongside the N-400, & hence the reason why they were here too.
He escorted us to his cabin, where after swearing me in he started by asking few of the N-400 questions like my full name, if I got arrested ever, how many times I was married, do we live at the same address, if my cell phone number is still the same. We had our child after submitting the petition, so he updated our son's details into his system. Before even I can ask to add our son to the records, he himself said "lets add this precious gift" :)
Then he started the civics test. I was asked, in the same order -
1. What does the President's Cabinet do?
2. What is the supreme law of the land?
3. Who is the Chief Justice of the United States now?
4. Who is in charge of the executive branch?
5. When do we celebrate Independence Day?
6. What is the capital of your state? - here he joked 'are you sure its Austin & not San Antonio?' lol
Then I was asked to read from the I-pad "George Washington was our first President", & then write in a piece of paper "Washington was our first President" - (dropped George).
That's all. He never asked any on the I-751, as in his own words "seeing this big fat file of well organized supporting docs in front of me, I don't need to open it or ask anything, your wife & son is here anyways" lol.
He didn't ask a single direct question to my U.S. citizen wife as such either.
At the end of the interview he handed me the N-652 with "Congratulations! Your application has been recommended for approval"...ticked, & then he printed the Oath ceremony letter as well for next week :)
In fact, something that I never heard of or read anywhere, USCIS do arrange emergency/special oath ceremony, just the USCIS official & you/few others on special case. In our case we will be travelling internationally the very next day after the Oath ceremony. So when I requested if there is any chance to have my oath before so that may be I can get my US passport done beforehand, he graciously accepted that request, worked in his computer for some time, & offered if I want to have it at 2PM today itself !! We were like wow !! - But it would just be me & the IO, & no ceremony as such, & me & my wife felt let's experience the real oath ceremony, after all once in a lifetime experience, lol. So we said no to that option, & kept the original date itself. I am hopeful the same day passport option will work out in my case.
The IO was really a very nice person with a great attitude, & showed professionalism. The real interview was done in 10 min I would say, but we all talked on offline topics for almost another 15 min. It turned out to be way more than what we had expected, in a good way :).
Based on my experiences for so many years with USCIS/immigration officials, I think this' another example proving "all of them has their own style, & discretion".
Hope this would help those who are still waiting for theirs to be done.
I would highly recommend to prepare yourself the best, & have every supporting with you in case anything is needed. In the end if your case is clean & you know it - there is nothing to worry. I am sure IOs are trained to sense that confidence as well in the petitioner, & that dictates the course of the interview & everything.
I submitted my N400 last Nov 14, 2017. I missed my first interview last August 9, 2018 because I did not get the notice. I finally received a notice for my second interview last April 16, 2019, and had my interview last May 21, 2019. Although I passed the tests, they said they were going to review my account. I had added 2 trips in the last 2 years which were about 5 months and close to 6 months each. Although I had supporting documents with me, the lasy said she will just request for evidence if she needs it and did not look at it.
It’s been two weeks now and I still have not heard anything. I have to leave the country again for another important business trip next week. I’m afraid if I leave the country it will jeopardize my petition. I don’t know what to do. Has anyone had the same experience? Any suggestions?
hello everyone
I file N400 last December 2018 Dallas field office still waiting for an interview
My Question is I got fire line parking ticket 2015 or 2016, the ticket was $100 from city police. I paid for that. And I don't mention that ticket on my N400 application. I called traffic court and give them my all information but they don't find my ticket information.
is there any problem in the interview?
I'm just curious under n400 application, do they carry out the background check beyond United states or is it limit within the territory of United states? Kindly help if you have an idea or experience about it. Thanks all
Applied for citizenship in May 2018
I got my interview done by two days ago.
I passed civic test and English test. IO gave me letter that I cleared all the test with decision cannot be made because I got married in last November 2018.
She said, when I applied for naturalization I was single, now I’m married person so she needs more documents to verify my marriage. Probably I’ll get mail to re appear in the interview.
I don’t understand why this procedure will end. I want to live with my spouse. I haven’t applied for spousal visa yet because I want to be citizen first then I want to put immigration process for my spouse.
Long procedure
After this
Again long procedure to get my spouse to US
I'm filling my N-400 online and about to submit it in a few days. I just have a question about the employment part of the form N-400.I was a Sales Associate in Home Depot for two months and I don't know which category it is under in the occupation drop-down list in the online form. Is it under Sales and Distribution Management Occupations? It seems nothing else matches that. Anyone has an idea or experience with this? I really appreciate your response.
Curious to know if anyone experienced a change in their processing time at the New York Office in Manhattan. My processing time said "estimated wait time: 3 months) with an estimated case completion time of September 2019, but today it jumped to "estimated wait time: 7 months" with estimated case completion time of February 2020 (8 months). I am curious if anyone else is experiencing a drastic change like this. Here is my current timeline:
Received application - Receipt Notice: November, 14, 2018
Appointed scheduled - November 17, 2018
Appointed rescheduled - November 24, 2018
Biometric - December 12, 2018
We reviewed your biometrics - December 12, 2018
I submitted the citizenship application on 2/5/2019, then on 6/5/2019 will be interview. After submitted my N400, I left States on 3/13/2019 and came back on 5/30/2019. The total day is 78 days.
I got my green card on 7/19/2013. I have been out of states 2 times, before submit the N400. The first time out of states on 9/12/2013 - 11/30/2013, and second time out of states on 10/2/2018 - 1/10/2019, plus this time out of states on 3/13/2019 - 5/30/2019, The total out of states is 256 days.
However I just read the USCIS web there is description about ( Reside constantly within the United States from the date of application for naturalization up to the time of naturalization). I don't know if my case will be effect by the rule?
