Houston Field Office
Anyone from Houston please respond to this post.

I did my interview Aug 24th last month and given the letter recommended for approval from the IO. They even asked me what will be written on my naturalization certificate told me the oath will be Sept 20th. Then the hurricane Harvey came and the offices got closed I still haven't received any notification for Oath ceremony. I called and speak to the L2 officer they said the ceremonies are cancelled. Anyone on the same boat as me please advise. Thanks

Decision cannot yet made about your application.
2/9/17 - PD
3/16/17 - FP
8/9/17 - Interview was Scheduled
9/12/17 - Interview

just asked questions about my form and my travels since i became a resident. then asked history questions. IO told me " you passed a test, but we can review your document for more time. Before applied for Re - Enter permit. IO said this review takes for two/three months at least. SO in my letter said: "Decision cannot yet made about your application".

Has anyone know how long is take it? Is it possible to deny my application? Do you have any suggestion?
I am very disappointed :(

08/04/2017- Interview was scheduled on September 11th
09/11/2017- 11:15 am interview

Interview takes about 15 minutes . At the end of the interview she didn't say I pass instead she told me if I want to attend the ceremony at 1:30pm the same day. Denver field office.

At 1:30pm on September 11th, I became a US citizen.

However the do-people sitting next to me said it took them six months to get the Oath after the interview. Guess I was lucky.

Decision cannot be made at this time
PD: 8/24/2016
09/09/2016 - We received your Form N-400, Application for Naturalization .
09/19/2016 - We scheduled you for a fingerprint appointment.
10/07/2016 - We are scheduling your Form N-400, Application for Naturalization , for an interview.
03/2017 - Interview Scheduled for 4/19/17
4/19/17 - Interview test passed but got letter "Decision cannot be made at this time"

have not heard anything back since then. Called couple of times and was told it was within the normal processing time. It has been more than 120 days and status still has not changed.

Only reason that stopped the decision at the time of an interview was I was arrested for DUI in 9/25/14 - but this was taken care of and all the needed fines/required courses and classes completed and proof submitted to the court and judge had closed the case as well. I did indicate this on my application and truthfully told the IO at the time of the interview as well.

Has anyone in the same boat as me or suggestions can be given? What other reasons can cause such an delay?

I have been in the states since 1994 and always renewing the GC. My GC is also expiring in Nov 2017 as well.

n400 denied. when can I reapply?
I received my n400 decision and it was bad news. I was denied.

The reason is because I wasn't in the time frame of statuary period after my arrests.

my first arrest was for DUI in may of 2013 and my second offense is for controlled substance in nov 2014 however the controlled substance charge was dismissed.

How long do i have to wait before i can reapply? 5 years from the first charge or the second? since the second was dismissed does it count?

Decision cannot be made after interview san jose ca
Hello,

I wanted to hear if anyone on here has a similar situation as mine or can help.

I applied for N400 and just did my interview 9/6/17

my story is that i have been arrested and charged with dui in 2013 and completed my probation period. also had another charge for controlled substance in 2014 which was dismissed due to pre plea diversion program, i was convected.

On my interview day, i brought court documents about the dismissal and probation termination.

I passed the test but the IO put a check mark (decision cannot be made because she wanted to check with supervisor.

my question is that, can anyone tell me if they had a similar situation and what the out come was?

N-400 Chicago FO (Final Update)

09/06/16: PD.
10/05/16: FP.
07/10/17: In Line for Interview.
08/14/17: Interview, Recommended for approval.
08/23/17: In Line for Oath.
08/31/17: Oath letter received.
09/11/17: Oath Ceremony. Immigrant to Citizen conversion complete.
In my timeline, there is an very significant delay between FP and interview. It was a challenging, emotional and frustrating period, even though my case stayed within the processing time. I was calling customer service, Infopass, ombudsman etc. While contacting Ombudsman was the best thing, nothing got resolved. In April-2017, I decided to stop checking my status online. It turned out to be a great comforting decision, giving me realization that I did have control over my emotions and that "waiting" wasn't the the only worry for me.
Looking back at this long, emotional and exhausting immigration journey, I have following takeaways:
1. Keep the faith that things happen at the right time for everyone, you too will get your turn at the time that is meant for you.
2. You should only worry if your N-400 case is outside the processing time posted by USCIS website. In that case file claim with ombudsman office. Calling customer service and InfoPass is not very effective.
3. After you become citizen, exercise your civics rights by participating in Political process. Make your voice heard and your vote count. Remember this long journey to citizenship and 45th (current) president if you ever have second thoughts about voting.
