Visitor Visa for Retired parents of GC holder got Approved
Hi,

Sharing my parents visa experience mainly because cases similar to my parents considered as weak case.

Background:- I am wife of US Citizen residing in USA on Green Card for the past 6 years. My Dad is Retired with very less pension and average financial condition. My Mom is Housewife having entire family in India with my 2 other siblings. I was the sponsor.

Interview was at US Embassy New Delhi on April 1st, 2013 at 8.30AM in Hindi.

Took almost 1-1.5hrs for all the process.

Question Asked to my mom:

1. Who lives in US? Daughter
2. What does your Daughter do? in XYZ company as ABC
3. What does your son-in-law do? in XYZ company as ABC
4. For how many years she is in US? apprx. 6 yrs

Question Asked to my dad:

1. Where you used to work? in XYZ company
2. What you used to do there? as ABC
3. For how long you want to go there? 3 months

And the VO said your visa is granted and handed them a green slip which has written your visa has been approved after receiving sms/email pick-up your passport at VFS.

The VO herself was asking questions in hindi & None of the documents got checked by VO. I posted this because I hardly find positive experiences for GC sponsor for Retired parents. I hope my post will give hope to all those applicant with weak cases.
Now waiting for my parents Passport, hopefully within 2-3 days we should get it. Thanks to this site, it is indeed very helpful.
And All the best to all applicants. Tips: be confident, honest also pratice frequently asked questions by giving mock interview :)

Visitor Visa B2 for my parents
My parents appeared for their B2 Visitor visa at Chennai yesterday and it was approved. The interview was very easy and smooth.
I wanted to share the experience so that it might be helpful for others.

We had scheduled OFC(finger printing and photo) appointment a day before the visa interview.

At OFC, though it was a single appointment for my parents, they were called upon to different counters and they had to show 1. Copy of the appointment letter 2. Passport 3. DS 160.

My parents are pretty comfortable in speaking and understanding English but still we had scheduled Tamil interview to avoid any accent troubles.
There were not many Tamil translators available and they had to wait for about 45 minutes for their turn. When they were called at the counter, there was just the American interviewer and my parents were eagerly looking for the translator. To their surprise, the American interviewer started speaking in Tamil (broken Tamil, of course). Now the interesting part was my parents started responding in English.

Visa Interview:
Parents:Good Morning Officer
Officer: Smiles and greets. Keeps looking at his system for about 2 minutes and my parents were worried.
Officer: How many daughters do you have?
Dad: 2 daughters
Officer: Where do they live?
Dad: They are in America.
Officer: For how long are you going to stay?
Dad: We are going to stay for 3 months.
Officer: Where will you be living
Dad: We will be living in Texas.
Officer: Your visa is approved.
Parents: Thank you and smile
Officer: Wide smile

Good luck for everybody!

experience at us consulate New Delhi
First of all thank you immihelp.com for making such a worderful site, which is mentioning each and every thing about visa in detail.

Me & my wife applied for US visitor visa to attend marriage of my cousin brother. Finger print scan and photo was on 17-03-2013 and it was completed in less than 5 mins but waiting time for our turn was around 15-20mins.

on 18-03 we went for interview at US consulate at New Delhi. I was little worried as my present salary is around Rs. 25000/ and agricultural income is around Rs. 2.5 lac per year. I thought it will create problem.

We had the following supporting documents:

1) I 134 form
2) My Uncle 2 year bank statement
3) Their last 3 year tax returns
4) Letter of invitation & Cousin's Wedding cards

Me & My Wife's Documents

1) My present and all previous job related letters
2) Our Salary Slips
3) Leave sanction Letters
5) All Bank statement & FD
6) Agricultural Land Valuation Letter and Form J ( agricultural Income Proof slips of last 2 years)
7) Photographs of us with Uncle and Aunt

Our appoint was at 9.30 am. After waiting for 45 min we had our interview. The following questions were asked;-

US: Good Morning Madam
VO: Good Morining

VO: Your purpose of visit to US?
US: To attend my of My Cousin brother

VO: Duration of our stay in US
US: 2-3 weeks

VO: What is he doing?
US: He is a doctor.

Again VO: What is he doing?
US: He is a doctor - Orthopedics.

VO: Are you employed?
ME: Yes, working as YYYY in XYZ Company and looking after my agricultural land

VO: For how long?
ME: From july, 2013

VO: So you are recently employed?
Me: No madam its my third job and mentioned why i have left my previous job.

VO: Your total Job experience?
ME: 4 years. (mentioned my all previous jobs and my designations)

VO: to my wife: Are you employed?
My WIfe: Yes, i am working as school teacher in xyz school from past 2 years

VO: have you ever been to abroad?
ME: No madam

VO: Is Uncle sponsoring for your trip?
ME: They are going to take care about our stay and food in US but we will be arranging air tickets ourselves.

Then she handed us a GREEN SLIP and said congratulation your visa has been approved....

She didn't even checked any of our papers not a single one.

I would once again thank immihelp staff and all those who have posted their experiences on this site which have helped us to get US visa.

For those who are going to apply for visa, from my experience i would like to suggest that:

1) Always fill true information in your DS-160 Form
2) If you have recently joined a new job do mention details of all your previous jobs.
3) Be confident and always speak truth during the interview.
4) It might be that they will not see any of your document (like in our case) but you should have all documents with you to support what you have mentioned in your DS 160 form or any information which you are going to provide them. If you have genuine document with you, your confidence level will definitely be very high.
5) Above all always Pray...

Thanks & Regards

Visitor visa rejection
Hi, we were in for a shocking rejection this morning. Three of us (my wife, 16 month old daughter, and myself) had applied as group for a tourist visa for holiday and visit our sister in law who's a permanent resident living in New Jersey. Duration of stay was 3 weeks.

While the treatment given to us due to a child in hand was excellent, the interview was rather depressing.

After asking purpose of visit and my business related queries, he turned to the wife
Asked her specific questions about her sister in USA and current status
Then asked about her work profile and on discovering she has resigned from work post the baby's birth, became more curious,
Asked her further own her intentions to join work again, and she replied in the affirmative when the toddler joins school.

Based on the above answers the officers nodded, and handed over the 214(b) rejection slip stating unfortunately they can't grant us to visa this time,

We are still trying to figure out what went wrong, Any suggestions on when to reapply??
