Thanks to this site and all of them who contributed to this thread. It really helped me a lot and kept my mom informed of what questions could be anticipated.
My mother's visa also got approved. She is a widow.I was bit skeptical as I read that it is difficult to get.But it is only a myth.If we answer correctly and confidently it should not be a problem at all.

The following questions were asked.

Whom do you live with?
Do you get pension?how much?

Visitor Visa approved for a Widow Mother
My mother appeared for her Visitor visa interview at the Mumbai consulate last week and i am happy that her visa got approved. I am thankful for all the help that immihelp has provided.

We were nervous since she is a widow and from what i have heard, its a bit difficult for a widow to get the visa. However my mom got visa in her first attempt.

She was asked a lot of questions about family and I think the key is to show very strong family ties in India. I have a brother who is pursuing masters in india and living with my mom. This was the most important family ties that my mom has in India. My brother is also unmarried, which i guess is also a positive thing in the eyes of the visa officer.

So i think even if someone is widow, but if they can show strong family ties in india, then the visa will be approved.
