B2 visa rejected
to i and my wife had B2 visa interview in Telugu at HYD
cibsulate at 8am. At 9am was interview after all formalities. Before me 3applicants were rejected visa, as I know the vo is not in goodmood even though he is very young. I was also kickedout from consulate stating that I am not in a position to meet the us expenses, even though my sister who is a us citizen and having maximum income is sponsering me the trip; So I understood that the vo has not gone through my application to notice that my trip is sposering by my sister and this is not a selfsponserd trip. Unnecessarily he spoiled my mood as well as my amount

Visa Experience in Mumbai - Jan 5 2012
Hi all...

I am posting this experience for 2 reasons

a. I got lot of help from immihelp
b. As a hope to all unmarried young sisters who are always in red zone with fear of rejection

I applied for B2 visa to meet my sister n bro in law in usa. I am single and student. while preparing for visa i realised it is not easy for us that is sister and brothers category to get visa compared to parents.

I think important issue in our case is Ties/reasons explaining why we will come back!
I had thought of all possible reasons and also practiced many times before actucal interview.

This is how interview went...

Before Interview ->
1. You get token number.
2. You will be seating in queue and afte 15-20 mins and then will enter in main hall.
3. Then you provide fingerprints and wait for ur token number to appear on screen with couter no allocated for your interview.

Interview ->
There is a glass between you n VO...they speak on mike and you stand in front to ans back...

VO: good morning madam....
are you going USA 1st time
I: yes

VO: where you will go?
I: my sisters place...address ZZZ

VO: what she does and what status?
I: software engineer works in ZZZ..and on ZZZ

VO: what your father does?
I: ZZZ

VO: what you do?
I: i am student..studying in ZZZ

VO: are you single?
I: yes

VO: whats ur age?
I: XX

<VO shakig his head...glancing on comp screen...I was scared a bit..>

VO: do you have anyone back here...why will you come back..

(most challenging question as per my profile make or break..i guess!)

I had this idea clear in my head..that m goin only as tourist not some1 to get settled or anything like that..explained this same thing to him...my career...goals...family....education and its relation to india....

VO: who will sposor ur trip?
I: my bro in law

VO: your case is difficult...but u r very honest n i believe you hence i grant you visa..u r good to go..njoy n happy new year!
I: speechless...!

I really wish this act as a hope!

Parents B1/B2 visa got approved today at New Delhi Consulate
My parents and sister appeared together for B1/B2 visitor visa today (5th Jan 2012) at New Delhi consulate.

VO to my father:good morning
father:good morning
VO reads something on his computer...
VO:where you used to work?
father: i used to work as YYYY in YYYY organization....
VO:what is your son doing?
father: he is working as a doctor in YYYY university
the VO then asked my unmarried student sister what is she doing? she replied she is in the 4th sem of her MBA....the VO then gave her passport back and approved the visas for my parents....VO didn't asked my mother any questions....he didn't asked for any documents from my parents or sister either...my father then requested him that our daughter is going with us and will come back after a month and that we have our married elder son ,his wife, grandson here and that she has to appear in her exams...but VO kept on saying Sorry...sorry i can't give her visa.....so mixed bag of emotions as my parents were able to get the visa whereas sister was denied the same....

Parents visa got approved at Hyderabad consulate
Applicants: Dad and Mom
Date: Dec 29th 2011 @ 10:00AM
Place: Hyderabad
Visa: Approved

Interview was conducted in Telugu. There was no translator, VO himself has taken the interview in telugu.

VO: Whom are you visiting?
Dad: Elder son

VO: Where does he work?
Dad: ZZZ

VO: Where does he work?
Dad: same repeated. (I thought dialect issue)

VO: How long you are going to stay? (to Mom)
Mom: 5 Months

VO: How many children do you have?
Mom: Three, Another son and daughter

VO: What your other son does?
Mom: He is a software engineer, working in Hyderabad

VO: In which company your other son works?
Mom: I don't remember the name.

VO: What do you do? (to dad)
Dad: Agriculture

VO: How many acres you have?
Dad: XX Acres.

VO: Show me your son's documents.
Dad: Gave my W-2 forms.

VO: Your visa is approved, you will get your passport in week's time.
Dad: Thanks

I think VO pays more attention to what applicant does in DS-160 form. So, pay attention while filling the DS-160 form.

Pre-Interview steps:
1) At gate - they'll check interview letter to confirm your timing.
2) Initial counter - they'll take the blue HDFC receipt and make sure main documents are in order.
3) Finger prints - Make sure all fingers are clear i.e. no cuts / scars / Skin peel off.
4) Sit in wating hall and your number will be displayed on the counter.

Interview went smooth. Thanks immihelp forum for proving valuable information.

Parents B2 got approved at Chennai Consulate
Hi,
My Parents B2 visa is been granted at Chennai consulate. we opted for Tamil interview. The consulate officer himself spoke in Tamil . He seem to be very nice.
Questions asked as follows:
*) Where are you going?
*) How many Childern you have?
*) How about others?
*) How long will you stay?
*) What do you do for your Monthly Income?

thats it. Actually we have trained my parents with lots of questions referred from immihelp. so they were quite ready for all complex questions.. But the interview went on real smooth.

Good luck to others !

Got B2 for family in Chennai
Thanks to immihelp and everybody who posted their experiences. My parents and sister got their B2 visa on Dec 27th at the Chennai consulate. I had prepared a list of questions/answers based on the previous posts. All questions asked by the VO were covered in my list, so my family was pretty confident.
No documents were asked.

Why are you visiting the US?
Whom are you visiting?
What does your daughter(me) do?
What does your son-in-law do?
Where will you be staying?

Are you self employed? What do you do? (to my Dad, he was the sponsor and is self employed)
How much do you earn? (to my Dad)

Are you a homemaker? (to my Mom, she wasnt and the application states that she is self employed too, dunno if that was a trick question)

What do you do - work or study? (to my Sister. She is a masters student)
When does your course get over? (thankfully in 2013! :D)

That was it. The VO was very friendly and made them comfortable. My parents were open and honest and were not asked for any documents.

Applying for Mom's Passport
Hi,

My mom's visa got rejected on 12th Dec. Not sure what to do next.
This is how it went.

1. Why are you going to US
2. Who's there from your family
3. Who's sponsoring for your trip
4. How many Children do you have. She answered 2, one daughter & one son.
5. Is your Son married, the moment she told yes, he's married, they gave her the White Slip, 214B.

Just because my Brother is married, does'nt mean my mom is going to settle with me and forget him.

Myself and my sis in law are both expecting our 1st kid in April. I need her during my delivery and not sure what to do next.
We didnt give any of these details since she was not asked.

Any tips from someone who has gone through this kind of situation.
Should we mention this when she attends the next interview.

Thanks
Sree

Where are you going?

What is your son doing?

It took 2 - 3 mins and no documents were asked.

I would like to thank Immihelp for giving me wonderful information to prepare all the docs required for visitor's visa.
I also would like to thank all those who have wrote their experiences. They helped me to prepare my parents for the visa appointment.
