Indian National Applying for B2 in the UK
I'm an Indian national and I applied for a B2 visa in the US consulate in London in Feb 2011.

The VO took my passport and carefully studied it.
VO: What are you doing in the UK.
me: I work for XYZ, a reputed IT company based in Bangalore; currently serving one of our UK clients.
VO: Who is the client?
me: PQR, a major insurer in the UK and Europe.
VO: How long you've been here in the UK?
me: In the last 7 years, I've stayed in the UK for about 4 years in 9 seperate visits.
VO: How long you've been working for your own company?
me: 7 years and a bit.
VO: When are you planning to visit the US and for how long?
me: In the first week of April and for 4 weeks and then I'll return to Bangalore directly.
VO: Why aren't you coming back to the UK?
me: My current assignment is ending this March and the next one is scheduled in June.
VO: Are you married?
me: Yes.
VO: Why aren't you processing your wife's? Isn't she accompanying you?
me: She is and she already has a visa to the US.
VO: Your visa is approved.
me: Thank you officer
VO: Enjoy your trip.

I think mine was a rare case as the US consular authority expects one to file their application in the appropriate consulate in their home country. I searched the internet before applying for such a case and couldn't find any.

Things I reckon that favoured a +ve decision:
* Dressing up professionally
* My company & the client's reputation
* To a certain extend - the way I answered.

The VO never asked for a document in the entire conversation.

My parents visiting visa got rejected two weeks back in Hyderabad. The interview is in Telugu and no transalators, VO asked the questions in Telugu.
I sponsered visa to my parents. Iam pregnant and my due date is in March. So I would like to have my parents during my delivery. (But I did not mention about pregnancy lastime when they went to visa interview. I just mentioned that I would like to show them some places here) Though Iam sponsered visa to my parents, my parents brought all the property documents, family photographs. But the VO did not asked them many questions and gave 214(b). Here is the interview questions:

Parents:Namaste
VO:Namaste
VO: why are you going to US?
parents: TO see my daughter and some places.
VO: What is your daughter do?
Parents: Software Engineer
VO:Which company?
Parents:They told my company name
VO:Where will she stay?
Parents:They mentioned my city name
VO: What is your Son-in-law do?
He is also Software Engineer in the same city.
VO:Which company?
Parents:Do not know(I did not tell them my husband company name because Iam sponsoring, I thought they do not need my husband details. so I prepared them only with my details)

VO: How many children you have:
Parents: two, one daughter, and son
VO:What is your son do?
Cultivation
VO:What is your occupation?
Cultivation
VO:What is your income?
Parents:3 lacks per year
VO:How many months you are going to stay there?
Parents: 5 months
VO:Do you have your daughters tax returns
Parents: My dad gave him my w2 forms(I have sent them my last four years w2 forms)
And then he said we are not giving visa and gave 214b form. stated they VO did not convinced that they will return to India.

Same VO officer have given visa to 4 couple before my parents. He did not ask them more than 3 or 4 questions and gave them visa and rejected my parents.

Also, my parents has to take care of my grand mother (mom's mother and she is 68 years old). My parents has all the property documents, and photographs of my grand ma and their grand children to show them that they have strong ties in India to come back to India. But VO did not asked them any questions on that and not even a single document.

We are planning to send them again sometime in next month. My dad do the cultivation but he has the business plan but he did not get the license by the time we filled DS-160. So last time, we selected Agriculture as his occupation when filling the DS-160. Now he has got the license for his business and they are going to start the business in a week.

So my question is,Can we select the business as his occupation now to fill the DS-160 form.(We can select only one occupation). Will it be a problem if it did not match with previous one

Since they gave 214(b) and stated that VO did not convinced that they will return to India. So we would like to show my dad's business and tell them that they need to go back to India to take care of the business and also my grand mother.

But we were thinking will they compare previous application and occupation and if it did not match will it cause any problem?

Also, if the VO asks about my pregnancy this time(last time they did not ask that question), Can my parents say NO? I am not mentioning about my pregnancy in the invitation letter. Iam just mentioning that I would like to show them some tourism places. Most of my friends are suggesting not tell about pregnancy.

Also, we are selecting only 3 months duration for their stay this time? Does this needs to be matched with previous one? Previous they said 5 months to the VO and we also selected intended duration 5 months in the DS-160 form. Does this needs to be matched?

Any suggestion and help would be appreciated.

Visitor Visa Experience At Mumbai Consulate
Hi,
Need help on B2 Visa for my parents who got rejection under Section 214(b) at Mumbai consulate on early monday morning in late November. No documents were asked & interview language was Hindi (Interpretor was present). Below is summary of interview which went for 2 minutes.

VO: Why are you planning to visit USA?
Parents: For tourism purposes.

VO: Who lives there?
Parents: My elder son.

VO: What does he do for living?
Parents: He is YYYY at YYYY (major IT company)

VO: Your son is in USA for last 5 years, why you didn't visit earlier?
Parents: My younger son was studying & was not settled. Now he is working so want to go.

VO: Is your elder son married?
Parents: Yes

VO: When did he get married?
Parents: 2009

VO: Where did marriage took place?
Parents: India

VO: Sorry we can not issue Visa to you under sec 214b.

We are 2 brothers & my younger brother works in india & unmarried. My father is in central Govt job (got NOC for travel) & mother housewife, current work location is Gujarat. We were expecting baby in late December & didn't share this information with VO as heard of rejection when they come to know about pregnancy.

Today, baby is more than a month old & thinking what is best time & reason to reapply. Should meeting my son's family or focussing grandchilren is good reason (attending annaprashan or rice eating ceremony)? Or focus should be tourism alongwith meeting son's famiy? Or want to visit son's family & visit USA since son's visa is expiring within 1 year? Recently I applied visitors visa for my in laws & they got visa.

I want to reapply B2 visa for my parents since my work visa will expire in a year & have not initiated GC. After above experience don't
understand what is best way to put up the case, what info to share & what to not to VO? Is few months old grandchild a negative reason? We live in NewJersey & my wife on dependent visa since marriage.

Any help/ guidance/ pointers from experts/ members is highly appreciated & we will be greatly thankful.

Thanks.

Tourist Visa Approved
MY mother went for an tourist visa interview on 18th Nov and she had all the paper work (That we can think of and all help to this website as we collected most to all of them mentioned on thsi website). She was applying alone as she is widowed and I am here with my wife. The CO didnt asked any (Even a single doc neither the invitation letter) and just ask basic 3 questions like:
Where and why are you going, who lives there, what does you son do and before she would reply to third question with the company name, he said thoose golden words Your Visa is Approved and she will get in mail. Sorry for writing the review late. She had the interview in Hindi.
But just to mention it, dont take it so lightly as my mom told me there were lot of people before her, for whom the CO asked a lot of papers and also there was a lady whoose visa was rejected and she was literally crying in front of CO saying my son and husband is there, i have everything . please do something. so well it is easy but not that easy!!! Sorry again for writing experience late!

Visitor Visa Rejected - Need Help
I am trying to get US Visitor Visa for my mother. Her application is rejected yesterday without proper reason. We need some help to understand the requirement for US Visitor Visa.

She carried all required documents to the interview as mentioned in immihelp website.

Following document are provided to VO during interview.

1. Original passport and photo

2. DS-160 Confirmation page with CEAC bar code.

3. HDFC Blue receipt

4. Interview appointment letter.

5. Form I-134 Affidavit of support form

6. Letter to Consulate

7. Invitation letter to my mother.

VO started asking questions in English though we have opted for Tamil interview

After her request, VO questioned in Tamil.

Question 1: How many children do you have?

She answered - 3 Children

Question 2: What is your husband doing?

She answered - Farmer.

Just 2 questions, VO gave 214b notice and rejected the application.

She carried all the supporting documents, but VO didn't verify them.

Supporting documents:

Employment letter

4 month Pay Stubs

Bank Letter

6 Month Bank statements

Original birth certificate

Marriage certificate

Family group photo

My Passport copy

My L1 Visa petition copy

W2f orm and 2010 tax returns copy.

Am I missing something? I don’t really understand the reason. I am sponsoring for the VISA and all expenses. I believe VO should check only sponsor's financial status.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks in advance!!

B2 visa rejected
to i and my wife had B2 visa interview in Telugu at HYD
cibsulate at 8am. At 9am was interview after all formalities. Before me 3applicants were rejected visa, as I know the vo is not in goodmood even though he is very young. I was also kickedout from consulate stating that I am not in a position to meet the us expenses, even though my sister who is a us citizen and having maximum income is sponsering me the trip; So I understood that the vo has not gone through my application to notice that my trip is sposering by my sister and this is not a selfsponserd trip. Unnecessarily he spoiled my mood as well as my amount
