Succesful 10 yrs Visitor Visa for my parents at Hyderabad Consulate...
Hi,
My parents went for visitor's Visa. They got it for 10 yrs.
Questions asked...

1.Your son's passport copy.
2.Who is Laxmi. ( My mother in law) They went for stamping last year and got visa for 10 yrs)
3. Who is Shekhar (My Father in law)
4. Where do you work (My father)
5.where does your son work
6.What's your daughter-in-Law's name.
7.Any photos of her.

Visa officer did not ask any further questions.
we booked our appointment in Telugu.
Strangely there are no translaters. VO(American) has asked questions in Telugu.

All the regular documents were sent. Does not hurt to carry any additional documentation. They asked for Daughter-In-Law's picture. Since my parents took some of our marriage snaps they showed them.

Good Luck to all.

My husband and I have been going through this website and waiting for our turn to update the forums with our good news and here it comes.

First of all, thank you IMMIHELP for all the information. It did make our jobs very easy, be itthe list of docs or the Qs.

My in-laws went for the interview at Hyd consulate on 08/24.

5 Qs asked to my inlaws

1. why do you want to go to the US?
2. How many children do you have
3. Is your daughter-in-law working?
4. how long has your son been in the US
5. Does your daughter living in India work?

3 Qs asked to my mom ( dad was not asked any Qs)

1. How many children do you have?

Iam the only child, when the VO heard that she paused for a min, My mom immediately said that she is a govt emloyee and still has 5 years service
2. Does your daughter work?
3. Where in US are you going to stay?

VO did not ask for any documents except for my passport.
Please note that my Visa has expired and currently iam working on EAD. So, its better to give a copy of EAD aswell when the VO asks for sponsor passport.

Good luck to you all.

parents got visa at hyd consulate
i would like to thank immi help, for sharing everyones experiences which helped my parents to prepare well.

first of all be thorough with all documents and the order in which it is arranged.

for my parents it was a breeze and went on really well.

the interview was taken by a NRI, and asked very basic questions like 1)how many children do you have? 2)where do you work (to my dad)? 3)is your daughter or son-in-law working(im on a h4)?

no documents were asked for..and they were issued there visa.

so the key is
1)be confident
2)be thorough with your papers
3)be well prepared with answers
and leave the rest to GOD.

My mother B2 visa rejected at Hyd Consulate on July30
My mother appeared for the B2 Visa at Hyd consulate on July 30.
They asked 4 questions.
1. Where is your son ?
She answered in America.. and she was about to tell the address, the translator interrupted no need for address.
2. How many children do you have?
She saild a daughter and 3 sons.
3. Where are the other sons?
She said they stay with me.
4. What properties do you have?
She said a house and plot.
She didn't mention about how much they are worth.

The visa officer said its rejected.
The translator said you will get a paper with mentioning the reason why its rejected.

She appeared for interview in TELUGU language.

My main questions are:
1. When to apply for the next appointment(We already paid the visa fees the same day)
2. Do we need to provide any extra documents to justlfy the second time application for visa?
3. What might have went wrong?
4. She took all the papers as mentioned in here. But not in the same order. They didnt look for any papers except in the first window they took the application set and then they retained the visa fee receipt and then returned the rest of the papers. is there any specific order?
5. She kept individual papers in sepearte paper envelopes with name of that paper in telugu on the paper envelope. i.e. employment letter in one paper envelope with telugu name saying sons job certificate. is this way of keeping the papers ok?

I need your suggestions and advise how to proceed?

Thanks
Venkat
