My parents ( living in Kerala) got their visitor visa approved for 10 yrs

- Opted for english interview
- Just 2 days before interview their interview my father cut his finger (thumb)
- i discouraged them from attending the interview worrying they will send them back
- Note the cut slightly extended into the FP area and he also stitches/
- he called VFS center in Cochin and they gave him number of the Consualte
The consulate said its the index finger they are really concerened.
- So, they went and the interview itself was simple
- Why are you going?
- How long has your son been in the US
-Does he have PR
- Which co and what is his position
- Are you working? No. Pension yes
Ok Approved>>>
Thanks for this site for providing a wealth of information
(NOTE: Eventhough I send them I-134, they did not even bother to take it!!!!!)

Nanny visa
I recently became a US citizen and would like to bring my nanny from India. Are there any provisions for US citizens to do so? Any tips or advice would be useful.

Visitor Visa - 29 years working female
Hi,

I have gone thru this site for visa help. Thanks to this site and all user posts here.

My case is strange and can help people who are around my age.
I am 29, my husband stays in U.S on OPT and his H1 starts from Oct 1st this year, so to meet him once I have applied for visitor visa.

June 09th 2009 8:15 am Hyderabad consulate.

I was there by 7.35 am.

Hyderabad consulate is new and facilities wise it is very good. I liked it

Visa officer was a lady (Foreigner) she interviewed one family before me for 30 min, and she denied their visa. So I was much tensed with that. Later on she didn’t call me for 15 min, and was thoroughly checking the rejected case on system and with a colleague. Then I got the impression that VO won’t reject the case without any strong reason. Looks like, even she felt bad about the rejection.

VO: Hi, Sorry I made you wait for long time.
Me: It’s Ok with smile.
Me: Hi, Good Morning Madam.
VO: give me your folder
Me: Here it is
VO: you are here for visitor visa (She is seeing my passport). Your husband is in u.s
Me: yes
VO: You already have L1B, H1?
ME: Yes Madam
VO: Where are you working? Are you going for visit?
Me: I am working in ZZZ, I have leave sanctioned for 2 months
VO: Since how long you have been working here
Me: 3 years and 6 months.
VO: Okay, Did you travel on L1 (She is closely seeing my passport line by line)
Me: yes, only once. For 5 months madam
VO: You have H1 why not you using this
Me: I haven't used this opportunity, currently I have personal responsibilities here and my job is stable here so I have second thoughts on this (blah blah blah..... She is not blinking her eyes)
VO: So you don’t want to go on H1
Me: As of now no madam, But next year I may rethink on this opportunity
VO: Hmm Okay. Where your husband working
Me: My husband is working as YYYY XX in YYYY XX (one of top 50 U.S company, I think this convinced her)
VO: Do you have kids
Me: yes madam, one son.
VO: Oh! How old is he?
Me: 4 years, His school starts from next week. So I couldn’t take him this time.
VO: Okay 1 second let me check once on this. She went inside & came back after 5 minutes.
VO: Again silence she checked on system for 5 more minutes and said okay, every thing seems okay, I am giving you the visa.
Me: Thank you madam
VO:While going u.s on this you should mention at port of entry for B2, you should get stamped on B2 page only.
Me: I said Okay.
VO: Do not work while you are on B2 visa madam
Me: Sure madam.
VO: again silence.
Me: (while collecting file) can I ask one question madam.
VO: yea
Me: What is the validity period for this visa?
VO: 10 year multiple entry. You can receive only after 5 days. She is saying some thing abt courier system.... I couldn’t hear any thing from here.... My senses stopped working
Me: I smiled and said thank you!

No documents were checked. I have prepared whole bunch of documents by troubling my husband 

Suggestions from my side:

1. Speak slowly and clearly.
2. Hear to VO carefully.
3. Don’t barge the VO while they are speaking.
4. Dress properly; represent our country well wherever we go especially when we are with foreigners.
5. Wish them well.
6. Be very polite.

Thanks
RB

Be confident
isa granted
I thank immihelp for all the help
Appeared for the visa interview on 9th june at us consular

Lots of waiting time, lots of rejections right left and center , so lot nervous our turn came!!!
Went in formal attire with tie n all even in this hot summers

Good afternoon , reply from consular
ques 1) why do you want to go to us
ans:- every year take a vacation , this year grateful to visit us for tourism for 2 weeks

ques 2) what do you do?
ans - my job profile

ques 3) what is your annual income?
ans- rs xyz / annum

ques 4 ) what places would you be visitng in the us?
ans:- nyc ,dc, etc

ques 5) to my wife -- what do you do?
ans- her job profile ?

ques 6) what is ur annual income?
ans- rs xyz / annum

then came those magic words - ur visa has been issued , you would recieve ur passport by courier

No documents asked for!!!
Again i would like to express my heartfelt thanks firstly to immihelp and the team and secondly all the users to post such reviews , so people can be helped.

i would just like share some pointers of my own as others have already said:-
1) be confident ( think you have nothing to lose)
2) mock interview ( practice the question aloud / writing them down )
3) be thorough with your documents!!! ( believe me it helps in your confidence even if not asked for )
4) reach early on time not too early as i saw ppl waiting in hot sun for 3-4 hrs
5)and ofcourse golden rule DO NOT LIE AT ANY COST , the consular officers can read through , i saw in front of my ppl being rejected eg: ques - do you haveanybody in us , ans - no , again ques are you positvely sure?ans - agian no , ques any freinds there? ans - again no , 15 minutes later on visa was denied,

so if a question is being asked intently be careful dont reply reflexely , try and reason and think it through wthout any lies , ( bcos u may be caught )

thanks again to all of you
i hope this helps

My parents went for their visitor visa at the Chennai consulate. My Dad was asked the following questions

1. Whom are you visiting?
2. How many children do you have?
3. Where are they?
4. What is your daughter's status in USA?
5. What does your son-in-law do?
6. Since when has your daughter been living in USA?
7. What did you do before retirement?

My mom was not asked any questions. She got her 10 year multiple entry visa. My Dad has been put under adminstrative processing as he is a retired scientist. I think the wait time for administrative processing is about three months now.

My parents had read all experiences from the immihelp and it helped them prepare for the interview and be exposed to the possible questions that they could be asked.

Thanks Immihelp, it is a great site,

I recommend people applying for visas to read ALL experiences under immihelp. It does take some time and patience but it really helps,
TA

visa re-application
I travelled to the United States last year on a J1 visa. I applied for a visitor visa this year but unfortunately I have been refused. I think I was refused basically beacause there was doubts about my intention since the trip was being funded by my uncle. My uncle was sponsoring the trip in fulfillment of his promise. Is it advisable to re-apply immediately using the sponsorship of my father? This will not be the truth though. I am also considering applying on my uncle's sponsorship again but will add my father's documents to prove his finances this time around in order not to contradict the first application. Somebody advice me. I really need it.
