Visa approved
Thanks a lot immihelp and all the users who posted their experiences. My parents had interview on april 30th , 2009. Only 3 questions were asked.
1. Mr. xxxx(my husbands name) is who?
Dad: my son-in-law.
2. Where does he work?
dad: at yyyyyyy
3. Since when are you working at your job.
dad: for xxx years.

After this they said to go for fingerprinting. When they came back, the officer said your visa has been approved. No documents were checked. But we have been having mock interviews for the last 1 week. I think being confident at the interview really works. My dad also mentioned that the officer was very gentle, courteous and respectful. All the best for all the others who are trying for visa.
I don't know if it is multiple entry or single entry as they havent recieved their passport yet.

Got B2 visitor visa for my in-laws second attempt
Hi,

First of all i need to thank Immihelp to provide a great and useful information. My in-laws (father in law and mother in law) went to the chennai consulate with all the required documents and attended the interview on 26 mar 2009. they returned back very sad that their visa was rejected. The consular asked
1. what business are you doing
2. asked the ownership documents
3. asked them to go to the next counter to get the finger printing done
when they came back they are told that, i cannot issue visa for you this time. We dint know what went wrong. but one thing is sure that my father in law paniced.
then whats next. On the same day they went to hdfc and paid the visa fees again
i scheduled the interview on 24 apr 2009
This time the questions are
1. what business
2. how much is the annual income
3. asked bank statements and balance sheet
4. what is the purpose of the trip
5. where is your son in law working
6. show the sponsor documents
they are given the visa this time. we all are happy.
but this time my father in law was casual.

Got visa for 10 yrs after getting rejected once
My dad and mom were rejected in July 2007 under 214(b). Today they appeared at Mumbai Consulate for interview in Marathi and were approved visa for 10 yrs.

Both, me and my brother are in US. We were very tensed after first visa rejection, but by God's grace they got it this time.

Tip: Mock interviewing helps a lot. Practice for atleast a week before interview. Confidence and Luck are important factors.

Questions asked:

VO: Who is sponsoring you?
VO: What do you do? What is your income?
VO: Why do you want to go to US?
VO: When will you come back (My parents had blocked tickets before the interview)

No documents were asked.

Good Luck for everybody who is in same situation.

US Visitor Visa
My mom got the visitor visa today from New Delhi consulate. Thanks to Immihelp for providing valuable information on Visitor Visa.

The person taking the interview was very friendly and smiling. He looked at all the documents my mother was carrying. He asked several questions too i.e:

1. What your daughter does?
2. Where does she work?
3. What is her legal status there?
4. Have you ever been to any other foreign
   country?
5. Has your US visa ever denied?

And then came the much awaited outcome " You have been granted the US Visitior Visa. Your passport will reach you in 4-5 days.

The entire process went very smooth except the Interview dates. It took almost three months to take the Interview dates as I was not aware of the fact that the dates are released early morning(IST) and slots are filled within minutes. I spoke to New Delhi consulate about this issue and they decided to give us an Emergency Visa Appointment date. While all this was going on, the very next morning I got the regular Interview date.

Good Luck to all the applicants. Let me know if you have any questions on visitor visa.
