Parents visa rejected for the 2nd time!
Hi,

My parents visitor visa got rejected first time on 31st July 2005 under section 214(b)from Calcutta Consulate. The rejection form said that they did not have any residence in India. My parents had their property paper with them but they were never asked about their property nor any papers to prove that.
For the second time they had a interview on the 31st of Jan 2006 at Calcutta Consulate. This time too the same thing was repeated. They were not asked anything about their funds in the bank or anything about their home in India but simply rejected on section 214(b).
I don't understand what is going wrong each time. My father is retired and my mother is a homemaker. They have a home in Calcutta and enough funds in the bank. My husband was the sponserer each time and we are greencard holders. I have an elder sister married in India.
Can somebody shed somelight on the case. Is it worthwhlie to apply again.

Thanks
Paramita

parents got 10 yrs multiple entry visa
First of all I would like to thank this sites adminitrators who have done an excellent job in building this website.
My parenst prepared themselves thoroughly by reading others experiences.
And they were successful. They got a 10 yr multiple entry visa .
Their interview was on 30 january in mumbai consulate
I had told them not to go for any intrepretor as it will delay their interview upon availability and good they listened because my father said that there was a huge queue for people who had asked for intrepretors .We were doubtful about my mother that maybe she will not be able to understand question though she can speak english
And ironically my mother was asked more question than my father.
questions asked
my father
what do you do?
how much do you earn?
what does your son in law do?
show me his support document and other papers?
my mother
how many children u have?
what is ur duaghter in india doing?
where my mom said she is working
how old is she?
my mom did not undertsand this question so my father asked the officer canhe translate the question in our language .
To that the officer said sure and gave a smile.
my mom told her my sisters age
to which she said wow marriagble age and my mom said yes
she than immediately asked so your going to look for guys in USA for her when you visit
To which my mom said no.
she started smiling.
my parents got a little concerned at this time.
but they confidently answered everything.
the Officer said ok sir your visa is approved and you will receive your passports by courier.
My parents were soo happy they thanked the lady and told her to have a wonderful day!
She smiled back and wished them a happy journey.
I guess you have to honest and straight with your answers .
plus I would advice everyone to go through this site thoroughly and prepare for the interview.
It surely helps

thanks

chennai consulate
Hi

i had an interview on the 24th Jan at Chennai at 3.00pm. Although it was for L1&L2, i am posting my experience and observations here for the benefit of visitors.
Process:
1)There is absolutely no need to arrive much before your appt time. You are only let in according to your interview time.
2)At the entry, your passport is checked along with your DS156.
3)Next you enter the security area. They check all your belongings - there shd be no sealed envelopes.
4)Next you go to VFS counters - there are 5/6 counters in all. Or you stand in line for TTS (single line).
5)I booked with VFS, when my turn came - they put my DS156/157 + passport + I797 + Petition + Marriage cert in one folder and gave me a token - piece of card paper having 3 parts to it with your token number written on all three parts. She did not return the folder immediately. Told me to go to next building.
6)Stood in line at the next building. while waiting, our folders with the relevant docs were returned to us.
7)Next we were let inside, and were standing in line for fingerprinting. American officer - very courteous, very polite. After fingerprinting, one part of the token was collected by an indian.
8)Next stood in line for actual interview. Again a very polite officer interviewed us. Everything was in order, got the visa. He kept a second part of token with him, and returned the third part. Told us to pay the fees.

My observations of why some visas were getting rejected :
1) People seemed to have mugged the answers.
2) They were giving the same answers for different questions.
3) They were trying to argue with the officer.
4) They didn't have enough documents to prove their statements.
5) Some just stood there without any answer.
6) some ppl were showing all sorts of computer course certificates from any small institute, and claiming they are experts in the field. The officers could not recognise the institutes, and obviously were in doubt.

These are just my observations. Hopefully it will help some ppl. All the best.

Now uscis is asking me:

A. submit evidence of how i used my visiting time.

B. why I applied for B2 in first place (prior to B2 I had H1b).

C. why I did not maintain valid status from Sept 1 to Sept 12!!

Any advice on how I should respond and what documents I should provide.

Parents rejected twice and In Laws once
Hi,

I have been working as onsite Project Manager since Jan 2003. I got marrried in April 2004. We applied for my Parents visa in the month of Dec 2004, appearently got rejected on 214(g). CO said not this time. We applied again in March 2005 and got rejected again.CO asked not to apply again unless there is very different reasons for travel.

My in laws has a business. Thinking that he would get it easily, we applied for his visa in the month of April 2005 and rejected for same reasons 214(g).

We are expecting baby hence definitely need help from either of them. I am thinking of saying a reason about PREGNANCY with a proof from Dr. so that some good reason for travel. I heard this should not be highlighted. Can someone help with different ideas? I will appreciate any kind of help.

Thanks
Gopi

My dad's visa : 2nd time
HI,

My dad was refused visa before in Nov due to non capability of furnishing finger prints due to burn on index fingure.(221 G)

He attended the interview on jan 9th after the wound had healed and it was not a cake walk this time compared to the ease with which my Mom got visa last time........

The officer checked each and every document again thoroughly, and was very particular abt bank statement as it was dated Nov 1st week.
But my employment here and the continued pay stubs might have helped me out here...she did not ask for the new bank statement.....

Some of the questions asked:
1. why do u want to go to USA.
ans: meet my son and to see places around.

2. Has ur wife left for US already?
ans: No She is waiting for my Visa and we have planned to leave in first week of feb if I get Visa.

3. She wont go alone?
ans: NO. She wont go if my visa is refused.

4. When did u get retired?
ans: 2000

5. Do u get pension?
ans: yes. Here is the certificate.

6. Show me ur sponsors documents.
ans: Hands it over and the lady looks thoroughly everything.

7. How long are u intending to stay?
ans : 4 months. Here is the planned itenery on British airways. We have already blocked the tickets.

8. Show me your hand where u had a wound.
My dad showed it and she growns....It looks u still have some scars........

After some time...Checking my documents again

OK....Pay the fees and Have a great trip....

My dad got a 10 yr multiple entry visa same as my Mom.............

Parents got 10 yrs multiple entry visa
Hi

My parents had their appointment on Jan 19th at 9.30 A.M. at chennai. They went to the consulate at 8.30 itself and they were sent in immediately. I asked for an tamil interpretor for my parents when I booked their appointment. But except the consulate office nobody was there it seems. So my father started answering in english but the consulate officer told my father that he knew tamil and my father could reply in tamil itself.

He asked just two questions to my father. No questions to my mother.

1. What visa is your daughter on?
Father: H1B
2. How many children do you have?
Father: 2. One daughter and one son
3. Where is your son?.
Father: My son is in India

Thats it. He asked them to pay the visa fee. They were out by 8.45. The whole process took them just 30 mins!!!!!.....

They got their passport on 21st saying they have 10 yrs multiple-entry visa.

Thanks to immihelp.
