parents - mumbai - visitor visa - first attempt - SUCCESS
hi all,

happy to share news that my parents got multiple entry visa on first attempt.

As posted by most others, I took help from immihelp sites to prepare for docs. Also sent questions to them & discussed over phone.

The CO only saw my papers and asked few questions:

1. why r u going?
2. what does ur son do?
3. when does his visa expires? (checked my form I-797)
4. when did you retired?
5. how much pension do you get?
6. what kind of properties you have in india?

thats all. interview lasted only for 3 to 4 mins. max and finally the CO said in hindi, "aap ko visa mil gaya hai" - the sweetest words to hear.

My parents asked for translator as my mom can not speak english but there was no one except CO. The CO who happens to be a young american lady did not asked any question to my mom.

As far as documents are concerned, we prepared everything and organized neatly in folder but CO did not looked at that.

finally I wish BEST OF LUCK to everyone.

thanks.

Visitor Visa Approved the second time....
I would first like to Thank Immihelp for their sincere efforts to help folks like me to gather information at one focal point.
My mom appeared for the Visa on Oct. 16th and her visitor visa was rejected on 214(b) Basis. I was not sure as to why the visa was rejected the first time as i have send all the papers except a few. The mistakes i made are as below:
1) On the Affidavit of Support, i entered the information incorrectly where it said who all are dependent upon you.
2) I have just sent a Bank statement from the bank stating the ending balance on my account as of that date. It does not have information as when the account was opened, the average balance on the account etc.
3) I did not send my original Birth Certificate.

I have rescheduled the appointment today 06-JAN-2006 and the appointment time was at 9:30AM. My father is not interested in coming to the US right from the beginning. So, it was my mother alone who went for the visa.
I have sent ALL the documents as outlined by IMMIHELP.COM and my mom called back and said that her visa was approved.
I was fearful of the fact that am taking the interview just 2 months after it was rejected the first time.

Thanks again IMMIHELP for the valuable information. I will update my thread once i talk with my mom and get the exact information of what questions she was asked and how she answered them.

Good Luck to All!!!

Cheers!!!
Raj

Visitor Visa Rejected.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

My Parents went for a Visa on Jan 3rd and their visa application got rejected. It is very disappointing. I am in US for the last 8 years and this is the first time they were ready and interested in visiting us. When they were expecting a lot on this short trip their visa was rejected.

When there were so many posts about visa rejection, couldnt feel the pinch, now I know how difficult is it emotionally, when you spend so much of time preparing all the documents and they reject it with out knowing anything about the applicant. I have read many posts in immihelp that the consular officers are well knwoledgable persons, who can decide the intention of the applicants. But I fail to understand how without seeing any docs or
asking any relevant questions they can determine the ties back home.

They didnt ask anything about the ties, the property they have, whether my father is retired, whether he is gettting pension etc. All they saw was DS-156 and my pay stubs

They asked my father,. how many children do you have for that he said 1 son and 2 daughters and both the daughters are in India and married.

No Other Questions, they gave the form with 214(b) - I am also hearing lot of stories that after 214(B) in the second attempt without any major changes in ties back people are getting visa, eventhough it is strange, is the consulate trying to reject couple of times and then give visa? I dont understand.

I am planning to apply again in May/June without any significant
changes to the ties back home points..

Thanks to immihelp and the users who are sharing thier experiences. Can the immihelp admin create a sticky bit discussion about refusal and second/third time reapplication. I know there is a visa tracker but that doesnt help much, if there is a place people can discuss about how to increase the chances, it would be great.

Thanks,
Kathir

Thanks to GOD and to this Wonderful Website
Hi All,

First of all I would like to thank all who have posted their valuable experiences which helps and guides people like me.

Case: My mom(56 yrs) and younger Sister(15 yrs) went for Visa in October 2002 and it was rejected. Again we reapplied for them in January by mail and that time my mom got 1 yr multiple entry visa and they rejected my sister visa. We took the interview in English and mom couldn't answer quikly to CO and she asked the CO to repeat the questions which resulted in rejection.

We have attempted again this year. My parents and my younger sister had attended interview on December 27th at chennai consulate. They had 7.45am appointment. They went to the consulate around 7 am. They were called inside around 7.30am and they came out by 9am. These are following questions asked to my parents and to my sister. This is first time for my father and we took the interview in tamil.

To My Father:
CO: How they are related to you?
Ans: My wife and younger daughter.
CO: where are you working?
Ans: working as xxx in yyy
CO: When is your retirement?
Ans: 2010
CO: Why are you reapplying again after two rejection?
Ans: My elder daughter is there and we want to tourist the country.
CO asked the question again and my father replied the same answer.
CO: Where is your daughter working?
Ans: xxx

To my mother:

CO: How many children do you have?
Ans: Two daughters (including me)
CO: How many months did you go last time?
Ans: 3 months
Here my father told we got 6 months but my wife came back in 3 months.

To my Sister:

CO: When is your Exam?
Ans: April
CO: How long is your vacation?
Ans: Two months.
CO: Is everyone going for 1 month or you alone going for 1 month?
Ans: We all are planning to go for 1 month.

CO: Have a nice trip.......
The translator helped my parents to understand the questions and they were very much confident because of good preparation. The key is preparation of documents with the help of this website and arranging the documents with tag and preparing your parents with possible questions posted in the website. Don't loose hope guys if we are able to get the visa why not you?

Today we got the passport and my parents got 10yrs multiple entry visa and my sister got 1 yr multiple entry visa. Thank God.

Once again Thankyou for all the people who have explained their experiences in this site. I would like to help others by posting my experience. Wish you all good luck and
Happy New Year.

Visitor Visa for my parents
My parents' visa was rejected in April. The CO did not even check the documents and no questions too. As soon as my parents went to the counter, he said " Sorry Sir. We cannot give you visa this time".

They went to visa again on Dec 15th and it was approved. This time, the CO asked only a couple of questions about the kids. They asked how many kids my parents have and how many are there in India. He also asked the status of my sister(sponsor)'s visa status.

We are still waiting for the Passports to know the period on the visa.

Business Visa Approved
Appointment was scheduled on 25 Nov at New Delhi, 8.15 AM. A very Good Looking & Young (about 30 years) American Guy took the Interview. I was invited by an American company with whom I am working for the past 8 months.

Initially, I forwarded the complete file to him. I have organized my file properly. This is the key guys, arrange your documents in proper order so that the Interviewing officer can easily & quickly go through the documents that he is looking for. He looked at almost all the documents for a good 4-5 minutes.

Then he asked the following questions:

• What do you do ?
• Which company has invited you ?
• What you have done for them ?
• How much do they Pay you here in India ?

The he checked something at his computer & told me "I have issued the Visa". I replied "Thank You Sir" & left the window. The whole process too about 2 hours. After 3 days I got my Visa by Courier. Its a 10 Year Multile Entry Business Visa.

In-laws got visitor visa
My in-laws got visitor visa on 12/14. We decided not to sponsor althoguh we did supporting document such as bank statement, invitation letter and a letter from my wife's employer. The lady was nice and just asked about my wife's siblings (she has two sisters and a brother in India). My mother in-law tells me that my father in-law was little nervous and the interviewing lady actually hurried the process. She did not ask any questions from her. They haven't received the passport yet, so I don't have any other details. Good luck to rest of you.
