My mother has got 10 year visa in Chennai Consulate

Thanks to all for posting experiences here. It helped a lot in my mother's case. Providing the details below: -
My mom had interview scheduled on Oct 03, 05 morning 8:30 AM in Chennai consulate. I have scheduled the appt in tamil and sent various types of questions to my mother for preparation. Also, conducted 4/5 mock interviews over the phone. Mock interviews are very helpful.
She visited the Chennai consulate location and surrounding premises 2 days before the interview to get accustomed with the location. On the day of interview, she reached early morning 7 AM. The gate was opened around 7:15 for people to enter and she entered in the first set of people. Security did not prevent carrying polythene carry bags. But, cellphones & other electronics items are a strict No. Initially, she went through a couple of counters where the dds and ds156 forms were collected and a token was given. The last counter in ground floor, a lady collected the token and put the passport , ds156 form , photo in a file provided by them and gave it back to my mom. My mom then went to first floor to attend the interview. At the entrance, there are sign boards to stand in different queues for english language interviews or regional language interviews. She noticed a bit late and stood in the tamil language queue. CO was a young american guy who spoke in tamil fluently. Mom told vanakkam and CO reciprocated the same.
CO- where are you going?
Mom - i am going to city, state names.
CO - who is there in USA?
Mom - My son is there and he will come back by may'06.
CO - Ok , can I see your son's passport?
Mom - (earlier has given all the neatly arranged /tagged documents to CO, gave the passport copies)
CO looked in all the pages of my passport copy and verified my earlier us trip visa stamps and current one as well.
CO - it looks good. you can go and pay the fees.
that's it..
My mom is working as a govt officer and we expected lot of questions around the govt approval, NOC etc., also,my dad is no longer alive.
But, she didn't get any questions around those topics...
Passport has come with 10 year duration. Thanks to all for posting experiences and making this a lively supportive forum

My in-laws attended interview today at Delhi. I was worried because they are from Chennai. They got it. Thanks to this site and everybody contributed their experience. It is a great help.
In-laws got the following questions.
Why u want to go to USA?
Who is financing your trip?
Why you need 5 months visa?
What does you son-in-law do?
Is your daughter working?
What do you do?
and few more questions. Thats it. CO asked my in-laws to go to TT Service counter. They filled envelop with their address.
Good news is CO did not ask any questions to my mother-in-law.

First she smiled and said hi how r u. i said fine and asked how abt u. she said good. ( i thought it started in a good note)

3)how long r u going to stay in US
a) xyz months

That's it. she gave a token which i have to the courier ppl over there and filled a cover with my address.

My In-Laws got their visa today in Chennai. The interview went well, questions included what they do back home, verified asset/documents, asked where they plan to stay and visit in USA. That's all. Good luck to others waiting in the Queue.

it was very bad exp. ....we were gone to embassy at10.30.our time was 11.00am. but some how there was very long que....we got our no at 2.00.we were my bother and me were sure abiut our visa but some how our bad luck......there r the question .....we was very rude and not even given small smile....

she asked :where do u plann to visit
we said : new york ,la ,losvegas
she asked : hav u got any thing for ur visit plann
(we have already gone though sites for hotel booking and alll....took printout of that)
when she ask we just show that papers and said no not yet but will finilize after visa
she asked: why didn't u consern to indian tour & travel company.
i said :becoz they charged for registerion around 10,000/-(we talk to Raj travels)
she asked: why do u visit only new york and la/lasvas only
we said : becoz we wanna see that places(even we asked our friends ...)they suggest thiers r the places to really good to see in America ....
she said : i'm not convenssionsed so sorry u cant get the visa...
even she asked us i'm not getting one point why u people wait so much of money for tourisum......is there any ans......see when we r earning ....we want to spent ...for our convience only....so is there any answers.....some time they ask stupied questions .........
tell me one thing they people come to India and some body says Kerela and smila is really good places to see in India ....so have they any ans....
anyhow i got my leave very badly.....even my bother got his leave in a yearly only he just went to london on his office side ....i convienced him to take a leave and we'll see america this time...but some how our bad luck.....but i muct tell ......if they find some body won't come back then only do some rejections ....other wise what is the use to reject all.......max...visas..
we felt very bad about it.....any ways pray god when ever u go for visa awlways pray for good consular....not "rude and moodly consulars"

My Parents got their visa
Hi,
