visitor visa approved at mumbai
My parents got visitor visa at Mumbai.
Thanks to Immihelp for providing all necessory inforamtion for visitor visa.
My parents got visa yesterday on 3rd June, first time(period is not known yet).It was very cool experience for them. They had done good home work. Appointment was at 2.00pm. They took marathi translator.
2,3 questions were asked to my Dad like
Why do you want to go to USA?
What is your son/daughter-in-law doing?
How long you want to stay?
2 questions were asked to my Mom
Who all are there in your family?
What do you do?
CO didn't ask for a single supporting document.
That's it and the Visa was granted may be because CO was in a weekend mood. CO told them that they should go for 6 months instead of planned 3 months.

Mothers visa rejected 2nd time.
This is so frustrating. My sister has traveled to USA on business visa so many times. This jan she got married to US citizen and is inviting my mom for her wedding reception. My mother applied for visitor visa in 2003 as she had to visit the person we were considering for my sis, her visa was rejected.
This year she applied again for my sis’s reception, again they rejected. She showed strong ties and property in India. My Brother in law is a Doctor in US and his family is settled there for 25 years. STILL THEY REJECTED HER VISA.

mother got 10 yr multiple entry visa
hi all
my mother got visa at her fourth attempt
she tried the visa in 2003 for 3 times
all the 3 times ,she was rejected under 214 (b)
so we thought we could wait for a year and then apply again
my mom had an interview on may 26th at 915 am
she had chosen tamil language
she entered the consulate at 830 am
first gave the appoinment letter
then gave rs 441 dd ,and then paid rs 4400 and then gave passport and ds 156 form at the other counter
and in fact the other dd for rs 2200 was also asked ,,in order to verify the amount is correct
after scanning, passport and ds 156 form was given back to her
important thing is that we filed the ds 156 form thru online
she was interviewed at 850 am
american man interviewed my mom
only 2 questions were asked
where did ur husband work?
where is ur elder son working?
that is it
she was asked to give fingerprinting and pay the fees
visa came the next day morning
important thing is that the sponsor my brother is a green card holder
and my mom is a widow
very much happy that my mom will be here
(this time i trained my mom by preparing 50 questions and then conducting mock interviews,,but at the consulate the interview was so simple)
all the best for others

It was pretty easy for them. the interview was at 9:45AM on 5/26/05 and they entered the consulate at 9:00AM.
Paid the Application fees and waited for 15 minutes. then was sent directly to Interview and fingerprinting.

An american interviewed in Clean and Pure tamil to my parents surprise.

they just asked a few questions

1) Is this your first time to US?
Yes
2) whats your son doing?
Work
3) Are you retired?
Yes from XYZ company....my dad offerred to give the papers for his retirement but he said they don't need it.
4) Has he filed for a Green card?
No

They got my Passport papers and went through each page and then told them to pay the fees.

They paid the fees and received the passports for my mom and dad on 5/27(next day) with a 10 yr multiple entry visa.

Parents got 10 M B2 Visa
My parents had their visa interview on 23rd May in Chennai. This was their first attempt and I was pretty worried for the last couple of months. I used to check immihelp updates everyday, some made me feel hopeful and some not so much.

We prepared all the documents as per immihelp's document list. We made 4 seperate folders(dad's, mom's, sponsor's and general) and added tags to each of the documents for easy reference. We also prepared a list of questions that we got from this site. We called my parents and went through the documents thoroughly and asked them the questions.

Their appointment was at 2:15. They reached the consulate at 1:00 and had to wait 1.5 hours outside(my advise for elders-carry an umbrella). After paying the fees, they were given a token and asked to wait. They were called for the interview at 5:00. Some of the questions they were asked were:
1) Why are do you want to go to US?
2) How many children do you have?
3) Do you have grandchildren?
4) Are you retired?(to my father)
5) Which field did you work in and what is your job profile?
6) How long has your daughter been married?
7) What does she do?
8) Can see her Passport?
(My parents gave the whole sponsor's folder, which the VO went through)
9) What does your son-in-law do?
10) How long do you plan to stay in US?
A. For 5 months (my father asked the VO if they could issue a 10yr M entry visa)
11) If I issue a 10yr visa, how long will you stay?
A. Not more than 5 months.

They were asked to pay the visa fees.

Keep in mind to be confident, answer to the point and in full sentences, keep all the documents handy.

My parents noticed that most of the elderly people were issued visas.

Good luck everybody.

Thanks immihelp and others.

I owe Canada Big Time !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi All,

Just to share my experiences...

My parents were rejected twice for visitors visa by USA Consulate, first in april 2005 and again in May 2005 inspite of all possible documents we could possibly prepare to convince US consulate that our parents have no intention what so ever of settling in US and that they were only travelling to visit my brother and for tourism!! They were not convinced!

Anyways...We were advised by many consultants in India that if US embassy refuses visitors visa then Canadian embassy is sure to reject you too.And we had two visa rejections !! That made our case even more tough.

There was only one sane consultant who said no,its not true.

We applied for Canadian visitors visa and fortunately my parents got six months visitors visa.

I owe big time to Canada and the officials who handled my parents application. Thanks from the bottom of my heart.

Thanks for not considering why US has refused visitors visa twice caz there was simply no logic to their refusal. My dad is retired and the response of the US Visa officer was that you dont have money to travel.I thought that answer was outrageous! Caz it is not true and she said that without seeing the documents my parents had prepared certified by banks and chartered accountants.

The importance of their visit... I am landing as a permanent immigrant on 5th June and I wanted my parents to accompany me,meet my husband and my parents in Law and attend my wedding reception.

The reason we tried for US Visitors visa...so my parents could visit my brother in USA at the same time they were planning trip to Canada..But USA visa officials are all too strict and what not....They refused, not once but twice. My dad is 60 plus.He went thru so much for the interviews with US visa officers,it was painful for me to see.
On the other hand, the Canadian visa application was handled by VFS therefore it saved my parents a lot of trouble and anxiety.

Anyways, I am glad I chose Canada as my new home over USA!!

My experience... I love Canada. It has a bigger heart! And I owe Canada big time.

Jas
