Inlaws got 10years visa
Hi All,

Thanks for immihelp keeping this site which helps people like me . and thanks to everyone whoever had written their experiences about visiting the consulate. I was going through immihelp everyday and took all the questions posted here and sent to my inlaws which was very helpful. my inlaws had interview on 16th May at 2pm.we had sent all the documents which are mentioned in this site.
questions asked were as follows:
To my FIL:
Are You Retired?
How many children do you have and where are they and what are they doing?
What property do you have?
Where is your son working?
he could not understand first then he asked him to repeat.
then he wanted to show all the documnets then the officer said not necessary go and pay the fees.
they got their passport on 20th May stamped for 10years.

I wish everyone good luck and prepare your parents well by sending all the documents and be confident while answereing to them.
If anyone has any doubt you can email and whenever i have time i will respond to your questions.

Once again thanks to Immihelp which made my life easy.

Best
Leena

My parents got 1 year multiple entry
I am very happy to tell that my parents got 1 year multiple entry visa from Kolkata in second attempt. They asked lot of tricky questions, and at one point they were abt to reject it. The main thing is that if one can prove a strong family ties and economical attachment with India, then it is easier.

Let me know if your need any information.

Thanks a lot,
Rajiv Singh

need help
Hi all,

We are planning to bring my mom here.In that process, we booked an appointment with Chennai consulate through ttsvisas.com.We made a mistake by choosing the language we want to attend the interview as English. This is not intentional.Though she is an educated person and can manage broken English, I'm not sure if she can understand American English. Please advise on this one.Can we ask the people at consulate to provide an interpreter .If anyone had a similar experience, please reply.

10yrs Multiple Entry Visa Granted
Hi all,

I feel very excited to inform you that my Mom has been granted a 10yr visa to USA. We also went thro' all the mental tension that first time applicants usually go thro', but fortunately we had a very pleasant experience at the Chennai Consulate.

All Docs were prepared following this site's guidance. My mom's slot was from 9am to 9.15am. She was let in at 8.30am. After paying the application fees, she was asked for DS-156 and her passport. Then she was directed to the interview counter where she was really surprised to hear an American conversing in pure Tamil to her very politely.

Just two questions were shooted at her.
"Is your daughter in US?"
Ans: "Yes"

"What is your husband doing and why is he not accompanying you?"
Ans: "He is retired, he is not joining me since he has to take care of our property here."

That was it and she was asked to pay the Visa Issuance Fee. The fact that she was a Govt.Employee was a major plus for her. Thanks to immihelp and the ideas shared by others. I wish good luck to all genuine applicants.
