My parents got 10 year multiple entry from Mumbai Consulate
Hi Everyone,

I am glad to inform that my parents got 10 years multiple entry Visitor Visa from Mumbai consulate last week. I prepared all the documents according to this website and arrange it properly. That was the key.

They asked few questions to my parents like,
What your son is doing ? In which company ? What you are doing (to my father) ? Do you have anyone else in India ? My father said yes, two daughters and that's it.

They said pay the fees.

Thanks Immihelp !

Visitor visa issued for 10 years from Calcutta U.S consulate
Hi,

First of all I would like to thank immihelp for their excellent guidelines for preparing the interview. Today my parents-in-law got 10 years visa from calcutta U.S consulate. The following questions were asked to my mother-in-law by the officer and the consular officer asked the questions in Hindi (consular officer knows Hindi :)). Not even a single question was asked eventhough both my in-laws were there in the interview room.

1. With whom you (to my mother-in-law) are living?
2. Why do you want to go to U.S?
3. Do you want U.S Citizenship? (the same question was asked for three times during the interview time)
4. Don't you have brothers and sisters?
5. How long do you want to stay in U.S?
6. Does your son-in-law send money every month?
7. How many children do you have? and where are they?
8. Does your daughter have any children?

The interview was over with the same question "do you want U.S Citizenship?". After going through all the following documents sent by me she (the officer) was very pleased and said "I am granting Visa for 10 years". Organization of documents "MATTERS".

Documents sent:
Invitation letter to my parents-in-law
Letter to the consular officer
Employment letter from the employer
Affidavit I-134
H-1B documental proof
Letter from the Bank with bank statement for one year
Passport copies (mine and my wife)
w-2 copies
Tax return copies
Pay stubs (recent 3)
Apartment lease (proof of address)
Verizon statement (phone)
PSE&G statements (2 recent)

These information might be useful to other viewers.

Great Relief :)

Thanks to immihelp

Visitor Visa
First I would like to thank Immihelp for all the wonderful information. We prepared our documents totally based on the info here on this site.
My parents had their appt on June 8th in Chennai. Since they were comfortable we took thier appt in ENGLISH. (However acc to my parents they found it difficult to understand the Consulate officer's Accent).
Here are the questions they asked

How many Kids?
Why do u want to go to US?
How long do u plan to stay there?
Monthly Income in India.
When did ur daughter visit you last?
and they CO went thru my parents tax details and employment documents.

they got their 10 year visa.
Only thing was they got my mom's name spelling wrong on the Visa.. so i am hoping they will get it corrected before they come here.

Parents got 10yrs multiple entry visa
Hi all,
I am very happy that my parents got 10 yrs multiple visa entry from chennai consulate. They had there appointment on 7 june at 9.00AM and there took hindi as there language.
Everything went very smooth for them. The lady(CO) who called my parents rejected few applicants just before them. So they got tensed but managed it.
They wished her GOOD MORNING and she said HI, how are you? MY parents said FINE.
Most of the q's where directed to my dad?
1)Where do you work?
2)what is your salary?
3)How many work under you?
4)Who will sponser you in USA?
5)How much property do you have?
To my mom she asked just two q's(my mom came to US in 2003 for 3 months on 1 year multiple entry visa)
1) How many months did you stay in US before?
2) How many months do you want to stay now?
Thats it! She told you got the visa go and pay the fees and enjoy your trip.
My advice to all those people who want to send there parents for visa is.
1)Tell them to dress neatly
2)Greet the consulate
3)Tell them to be confident and keep smiling(if you have nothing to hide)
MY mom told that they kept smiling during the whole interview and the CO never bothered to check there papers not even a single paper.
I hope this helps thxs to immihelp its a great site.
Good Luck
Anjali

Spouse's name on passport
My hubby went to US on H1B. I applied for visa to join him. However, my visa was rejected because my hubby's passport (made before our marriage) did not have my name as spouse. The poor guy had to do a lot of leg work in US to get my name endorsed on his passport through the Indian embassy in Washington. It was ultimately done and i reapplied for visa and got it!!!!!
So all u newly married ones, make sure u have ur new partners name endorsed on each others passports, or else........

Parents visa rejected on 214(b)
Recently my parents went to New Delhi all the way from Bangalore for a tourist visa. The visa was rejected on the grounds that they had overstayed illegaly during their last visit in 1997-98. In fact, during that visit we had applied for six months extension just before the end of the first six months. We recieved an acknowledgement and latter also got the approval letter after they had left the country and after the lapse of second six months from the INS.

Unfortunately, we have misplaced the documents recieved from INS during our relocation.

Suggestions and advice how to obtain a duplicate of the approval documents and also how to reapply for the visa will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Mom got 10 yrs multiple entry
We prepared the docs. referring to only this site. Thanx a million to immihelp. My mom's interview appointment is by 9.30 AM and she gave her interview by 10.15. First the officer took her finger print and asked for DS 156, then he asked,
"Whether your husband stays in India", she said,
"yes, he is working in abc company as xyz", he said, "go pay your fees". That's it ! only one question. He didn't check any of the docs. Anyway we have prepared our docs. very neat, giving tabs for each of them.
I feel that our attitude is more important, if our parents can face them confidently, then nothing like it. So prepare them that way.
All the best every one !
