SSN?
I have seen here a lot of people posting that their SSN and EAD came in the mail together. Does this mean you did not need to apply for an SSN separately? I currently have a social because I was on STEM OPT and just received my new c9 EAD. I want to change my name on my social to match my married name on my EAD- do I need to apply for this and bring documents? Because it seems here that people are just getting them mailed to them. For my first social it did not come automatically with my EAD. Thanks!

My I-765 experience/timeline
This is my I-765 application timeline. I haven't received the card yet but it is being produced, at least i know my application is processed and done. It was 92 days of process and a lot of effort. I would like to share with you my timeline as well as what i think worked and what not. Just a reminder that this could only apply to my situation, however it might be able to help some of you out there. I'm married to USC

1/31: application received
3/8: biometric
4/10: case expedite requested based on financial loss
4/11: case assigned, more evidence requested. Faxed support evidence on the same day
4/13: request for case assistance with congressman
4/14: they replied, started working on case
4/22: request for case assistance with Ombudsman
4/23: went to Infopass, no update or confirmation on faxed documents records. They scanned and e-mail supporting documents again for case expediting officer
4/24: Resent documents for Ombudsman
4/30: put in SR
5/1: called USCIS, talked to tier 2 officer, no updates
5/1: Plead Ombudsman for case process since it got pretty emergent (my husband lost his job)
5/2: request for case assistance with 2 state senators
5/3: card being produced

What i think helped:
- Building a reasonably case for expedition. Make sure you gather all the supporting documents and write them a letter, explaining your situation as well as being sincere to them. How is your situation emergent?
- Contacting Ombudsman: based on their responsiveness and how direct they are to the EAD processing office, i believe they have the mean and say to push my case.
- InfoPass: no they didn't help processing my case nor give me any valuable updates but i think they were extremely helpful when they scanned and e-mailed my supporting documents. Since you're only allowed to faxed your documents to support your case expedition and they won't confirm the fax receipt, there is no way to know if they have received the documents and work on expediting your case.

What i think didn't help me:
- requesting case assistance from congressman/senator: they just don't respond to me. You might have better luck than me. All i can say is it doesn't hurt to try, just didn't work for me.
 - calling USCIS: unless you need generic updates, putting in expedite or service request, waiting 2 hrs to talk to tier 2 officers might not be able to give you any more than that.
 - SR: never got assigned. I realized my case didn't reach 5 months limit but i have to tried since my situation got really bad
- Overall this is only my experience. Lemme know if you have questions.
- Good luck y'all

got my ead
Hi guys!
Just wanted to share my timeline with you.

Married to U.S. citizen
 PD : 22 December 2017; NBC
 Bio: 1st February
"your interview is ready to be scheduled" 8th February
On 30 April, after 129 days my status changed to "new card is being produced"
 2 May card was mailed
4 May I received my EAD.

I didn't submit any SRs, I didn't contact Congressman or Ombudsman.

I filled the new form of I-765 so I also applied for SSN but I haven't received it with my EAD. Does it usually come later or do I have to apply for one?

Thanks and Good luck!

I give up
Processing immigration documentation is significantly different during trump's era. The whole system is a mess, can't seem to get answers anywhere. So sick and tired of logging into uscis website everyday without seeing any real change, sick of calling uscis, sick of checkling mailbox, sick of being jobless....just sick.

Trump must be happy, he has done a fine job of making us feel worthless and below human standard.

I leave everything into the hands of God, let him do his work. Goodluck to everyone with your case, I would try my best not to come to the ead section.I Probably would just stick to the 1-485 section of this website and imagine myself getting a green card instead.

When should I cancel my trip?
When my wife applied back in October we were told that she should get the EAD/AP between January (optimistically) and March (pemistically) so I booked tickets for May 24th to go to Europe for a few days. That’s in 3 weeks, and no EAD in sight yet. When do you think I should postpone it? ( I can’t cancel as most of it is not refundable but I should be able o move hotel and fights with penalty) I believe May 17tj is the latest right? I’ve seen most people get their cards within 7 calendar days of the case being approved. Also if I postpone it when do you think is the safest date? Between August and September?

EAD Application - Category A17
Hey guys,

Posting my experience here since this forum helped me a lot when I was waiting for my EAD.

I have a 'spouse of an E2 holder' visa and my eligibility category is A17. My service center is Vermont.

Dec 21, 2017 - Mailed application to Dallas, TX
Dec 29, 2017 - Application received by USCIS
Jan 13, 2018 - Rejection notice received by mail. My category did not require me to do biometrics but the payment I submitted included a biometrics fee
Jan 15, 2018 - Re-mailed my new application
Jan 17, 2018 - New application received by USCIS (official received date)
Jan 23, 2018 - New receipt notice (I-797C) received by mail
Apr 17, 2018 - Exactly 90 days since my official received date, I called USCIS to open a service request indicating that my application is now BEYOND COMMITTED PROCESSING TIME. They told me I will hear from them in 15-30 days.
Apr 20, 2018 - USCIS sent a letter mentioning that my case has been assigned to an officer and is currently being processed.
Apr 27, 2018 - Received a notice from Case Tracker that my card has been ordered and will be sent to my address.
May 4, 2018 - Card received by mail

While I was waiting for my EAD I was also frequently checking the Case Processing Time updates on https://egov.uscis.gov/processing-times/. That's why I was panicking a bit because according to this site, my application will take 4-6 months to complete which I assumed was because of the huge backlog from the holidays!

In the end, the process took 108 DAYS from my official received date to notice of approval/mailing of card.

It's either the Case Processing Time site is not updated at all, or opening a service request at the 90th day helped my case a lot. Either way, I would encourage those who are in a hurry to FOLLOW UP ON THE 90TH DAY and not before because they will not open a service request if your application is still within the 70-90 days committed processing times.

Hope this helps! Do not give up, have faith and plenty of patience. Good luck to everyone!

EAD expedite
Does anyone know if when you submit an expedite request you case literally gets "sent out" to the expedite officers? My PD is 12/4/18 and I checked the processing time table and the NBC is processing cases from Dec 5th. Will this delay my process?
