Expired EAD
It has been more than 120 days that I have been waiting for my EAD. I have a job that I am scheduled to start May 9th.. I submitted Dec 4th. My "lawyer" told me that as long as my case is pending in USCIS I should be able to work with my expired EAD. Has anybody else heard of this?

L2 EAD can I renew my 5 years old expired EAD or need to apply a new one?
Hello,

I have worked in USA on L2 EAD from 2012 to 2013. But primary L1 visa expired and hence we returned to India.
Now I am travelling again to USA on L2 visa.
Then do I need to apply for a new EAD or is there any process for renewal in such case?
Also are the processing times same (I understand its anywhere between 2 to 6 months) for new EAD or for renewal of EAD.

Thanks in advance for your inputs.

How to file a SR
My husband and I want to file our first service request. We were going to use the website:

https://egov.uscis.gov/e-request/displayONPTForm.do?entryPoint=init&sroPageType=onpt

The request is for waiting on the Ead. We’re on day 100. Do we file the service request for i-485 or for I-765.

Any suggestions, help or experiences would be greatly appreciated

Greencard double standard
immigration officials who help process citizenship applications.

Melania Trump‘s parents — Viktor and Amalija Knavs of Slovenia —are green card holders and lawful, permanent residents of the U.S. who immigrated legally, their lawyer, Michael Wildes, tells PEOPLE after images of them outside the building appeared in New York’s Daily News.

Wildes would not comment on whether the first lady’s parents are seeking citizenship.

“The family would like to keep it private,” he says, adding: “They are absolutely lovely people.”

The couple had been awaiting scheduling for their naturalization oath ceremony, the Washington Post reported in February.

The pair likely obtained a green card through sponsorship by their daughter Melania — an American citizen — immigration experts told the Post. The process, dubbed “chain migration,” has been blasted by Republicans including President Trump in his 2018 State of the Union address.

“We need a 21st Century MERIT-BASED immigration system,” Trump also tweeted in February. “Chain migration and the visa lottery are outdated programs that hurt our economic and national security.”

When asked to comment on Trump’s push for immigration restrictions, Wildes said he “can’t, it wouldn’t be appropriate.”

Melania Trump’s spokeswoman, Stephanie Grisham, tells PEOPLE, “I never comment on her parents as they are not part of the administration and deserve their privacy.”

Meanwhile, Wildes’ Yelp page features a smiling photo of him with President Barack Obama, and he tells PEOPLE “I am a very proud Democrat,” noting he had been a two-term mayor of his city, Englewood, New Jersey, and is currently seeking a third term.

“It’s a real experience,” he says of being an immigration attorney. “It’s an extraordinary journey each day to help people open America’s golden doors.

EAD expedited
I filed in the first days of January 2018, and my EAD was going to expire in early May. I was in the panic mode recently as I was waiting to get my EAD. It is employment based by the way.

Thank to the people here, I learnt that I can expedite it. My lawyer did not know this, which is funny. I called the Senator office and told them that I am going to lose the job. They were super helpful and told me to immediately send them the suspension letter that I got from the employer. I sent them all the documents they asked and 2 business days later I got an email they my EAD is approved. Got the card in the mail in 6 business days.

For those waiting and have job offer or have a job that they may lose, you can call the senator, congressman or ombudsman to request the expedite. Also, you can call USCIS and request the expedite yourself.

I hope these information is useful and thank you all the people here who helped me.

Regards,

Can an I-539 not processed locked I-485, I-765 and I-130 proccessing?
I have been waiting for my EAD approval since Oct/17/2017 (receipt date). My AOS shows Fingerprint fee was received on My case status. My EAD shows Case was received. Opened two SR and got "You should get a notice shortly". Done infopass two week ago, nothing new.
I also have an I-539 (extension of stay) pending from Sep/2017. I am starting to feel that because of my I-539 has not been processed yet, neither AOS not EAD got approved yet.

Someone in the same situation? Some who filed first and I-539 (extension of stay) and then AOS, EAD and AP? Does I-539 get processed first to unlocked AOS, EAD and AP processing?.

Some clarity at least
Hello!

I thought I'd share our experience as it aligns very well with everyone else's in this forum.

Married to an LPR
Forms: AOS + EAD + AP
PD: 10/31/2017
Biometrics: 11/28/2017

Ever since then nothing. We did raise multiple SRs, contacted Congressman as well as Ombudsman.
No real progress or action.

We'we have been calling USCIS regularly, soon we will probably be on a first name basis.

The congressman is at least polite and tries to be helpful.
Today marks 184 days total (including weekends + holidays)

ANYWAY.

Yesterday we got through to an L2 officer with USCIS and even though he wasn't really polite he explained that the EAD only gets "unlocked" once you get to a certain stage within your AOS application and that many people (including us) are just not there yet.

He said there was no problem with the EAD, it's the AOS holding things up, more specifically the background check and that they can not issue it until then.
Apparently, it's super slow for everyone so the only thing to do is to be patient and hang in there.

I thought this may be helpful to many of you since USCIS generally provides 0 to no info on these calls, so we were kind of relieved that it's "just" the background check.

I looked up how to speed up the BG check and apparently, there is almost no way ...It's with the FBI and people have been trying to write a letter to the first lady, but personally, I doubt that it helps.

So yeah, I hope that helps at least a bit even though it's not a great piece of news. USCIS should make an announcement informing people about what is holding things up or at least update the cases accordingly... I'm sure they would save themselves a lot of "calls" and SRs and unhappy customers.

Another part of it also is ... many people pay $2k for a service/application you "never" see the result of ... not counting lawyer fees etc.

It's just frustrating.
