EAD
Hi everyone,
Since I look at this forum everyday, I thought I would share my wife's status as well.
NBC, based on marriage. We have consulted with a lawyer(to review our documents for an hour), but we have filed everything without a lawyer(lawyer advised since our case is pretty "standard" we shouldn't waste money on them.. we did our part on getting every documents ready as well).
PD: 8/14
Bio: 9/7
Status has not been changed online from "Received" and no RFE yet.
We plan on raising a SR next Monday(10/30) since that would be around 78th day mark and plan on reaching out the congressman the same day.
Here are couple questions though:
1) Is calling the customer service at USCIS the best way to raise SR(rather than online)?
2) If we haven't received RFE by now, that means it's safe to assume there shouldn't be something wrong with the documents we have submitted correct? When do people receive RFEs usually?
Appreciate any help here as my wife is on leave of absence that might expire anytime, and we can't get mortgage as lenders said they would need my wife's valid Employment Authorization Card before they can close it.
I have a couple questions regarding expediting EAD.
1. When is the earliest that I can reach out to USCIS customer service to expedite EAD? I have seen posts that say 30 days, some say wait till 75 days
2. Similarly, when do you recommend to reach out to congressperson for help in expediting EAD?
3. How can you show/argue severe financial loss when USC husband has proven sufficient funds to support me in form I-134? Does a letter of termination from my employer count?
My lawyers submitted all my paperwork (I-130A, I-131, I-485, I-693, I-765) yesterday 10/24, but I want to be prepared to accelerate this process as much as possible. I have been on leave from work for almost a month now since my OPT extension got denied, and every day that goes by I fear losing my job (and my sanity).
PD April 10 2017
C08 Renewal
i have waited for more than 180 and almost 190 days already.
Website still showing " Case Received ".
Does anyone have a similar case with me?? i wonder what the hell i can do this is getting crazy.
i know some people here in his forum would go to the senator or congressman for help.
But i have no idea how to do it. can somebody give me some advice like what documents u need to bring please.
i am losing hope !!
A big thanks to everyone that has been posting here. It sort of kept me sane during the long wait. I am currently still waiting on my EAD/AP card. My case is still stuck on "case was received".
This is my timeline (NBC, category c09)
PD: 06/21/2017
Biometrics appointment: 07/19/2017
No requests for evidence.
I asked our attorney multiple times if there is anything we can do to speed up to process or check where it is at, but he says we just need to wait. I keep reading on this forum that people contact their congress man or talk to level 2 officers, and I am just wondering why he wouldn't propose that if it actually works. Just kind of curious but also frustrated at this point, I guess...
Today is my case status was changed to “card is beating produce”.
As I said early (at 2nd page for now), at day 172 I’ve contacted to senator.
Day 174. I’ve got answer with my congressman phone number and some instructions.
Day 175. Congressman’s Office got my documents.
Day 182. Congressmen’s Office had sent email to me at 12:30pm it said they have contacted to uscis. At 12:40pm I’ve got text notifications case status Was changed. Then I’ve checked account and is says “card is beating produced”
I hope I’ll get my card by the end of the week.
Good luck everyone. I’ve grow several gray hair over the past 182 days...
Finally L2 EAD application is status is changed to Card Being Produced today. It took exactly 75 days.
service center Vermont. application was received on Aug 9.
THANK YOU to everyone who has shared their experience along the way. My husband and I have been reading the threads on this forum for months, and like many of you, have also checked the USCIS website for updates regarding our case status on a daily basis, sometimes multiple times per day. It's turned in to a bit of an obsession as we are trying to remain hopeful. So, finally, I have decided to post our current standings as well. Here goes....
Norfolk, VA Field Office
Filing WITHOUT the assistance of an attorney. I am the USC, my husband is the applicant and from Turkey.
Married March 2017
PD: 5.24.2017 (Filed i-130 and i-485), 06.14.2017 (i-765)
** Our only mistake was not filing i-765 with the i-130 and i-485, but quickly realized our mistake after reading the experience of others on this website and filed immediately. **
06.02.2017: Biometrics Notice
06.21.2017: Biometrics Appointment
06.24.2017: Notice Date, i-765 Received on 06.14.2017 and in process
09.11.2017: Contacted Congressman for assistance
09.18.2017: Congressman sent written response regarding the inquiry of our case. They had me (the USC) fill out the initial release for them to work on our behalf. They were able to provide information regarding i-130 and i-485, but needed my husband (applicant) to fill out the release for updated information regarding i-765.
09.20.2017: Received Interview Notice for 10.26.2017
98 Days for i-765 with no EAD update. Called USCIS and did first SR.
Husband filled out the release for our Congressman to inquire on our behalf for update on status of EAD.
Received no update from Congressman, called multiple times to follow up. Finally, on 10.16.2017, we were able to get in contact with our Congressman. The office never received the release from my husband, so he resubmitted the release.
10.18.2017: Received written response from our Congressman stating they were working on my husbands behalf once again.
10.20.2017: 128 Days (30 Days since first SR) Called USCIS, went through all of the prompts multiple times to speak to a live individual only to find their system was down. Called 4x throughout the span of 4 hours. Was finally transferred to a tier 2 officer who could only confirm we had reached the 30 day mark since our initial SR, however, since their system was down, she suggested we file the second SR online.
10.21.2017: Attempted to file second SR, system said we already had a pending SR and needed to wait 30 days. :-/
Contacted USCIS Ombudsman and filed a request for their assistance.
10.22.2017: Attempted to file second SR again, system still saying we have a pending SR and need to wait 30 days.
153 days from our PD for i-485/i-130. NO updates online for anything, even for our interview this Thursday which has been scheduled for over a month. 132 days from our PD for i-765.
Fingers and toes are crossed the interview goes smooth on Thursday. I have read sometimes they approve you on the spot and either stamp passports, provide a letter for a temporary 30 day green card, or both. But usually, it's a process in itself as well. I actually went to post this twice and received a "your session has expired" notice. HAHA. I think we may be jinxed. ;) We will remain optimistic and hopeful for sure and keep everyone posted. :)
PD. - Aug 9th
RFIE - Sept 1st
Bio. - Sept 6th
1st SR - Sept 9th : Online and no response
2nd SR - Sept 21 through Customer Service, contacted the congressman office same day
Day 66 - Card Approved and went into production.
Day 67- Card mailed to me
Day 70 (Oct 19th) - Card received in the mail.
Going for my SSN on Monday (Oct 23rd).
I really appreciate this forum for their contribution and experience I gathered here.
I just want to share my experience so I can be a reference for another person in the same situation (J2 Visa, c(5)). You can get really anxious during the process and it is helpful to read other experiences.
September 5th - sending the documents
September 7th - They received my application (they notice me via email and the letter arrived later)
October 13th - They ordered the card
October 17th - They mailed the card
October 20th - The card arrived at my house
For me was very fast, took only 41 days since they received my application until they send the card. I think that for J2 is faster, I don´t know why.
