Biometric appointment
Folks,

I have a few questions on Biometric appointment for first time applicant, for L2 dependent visa category (paper filing):

Usually if USCIS sends a biometric notice, it comes in how many days from the date of applying? From various experience I've read, the biometric is done within a month from the date of applying. Does that mean that just after a week or two you receive a biometric appointment letter?

Can anyone share the dates of receipt of Biometric appointment mail and the actual Biometric test date.

Thanks in advance guys!

Waiting for the EAD Card
Hi,

I reached U.S.A on Feb 2015 and immediately applied for my EAD card (I'm currently on L2 Visa). I applied it online and sent the required documents through the mail to VSC.
As per USCIS website, the status of my application from Feb 18th, 2015 is that "the correspondence is getting reviewed".

I never received any appointment for biometrics. When I called up their call center, they told that biometrics is really not mandatory these days. Is it true?? Anyone else facing the same problem???

Case Status Approved
Hi All,

My EAD approved on 13th of this month and the status hasn't changed to either card produced/mailed.
It is showing as "Case Was Approved" . How long does it take for them to produce the card. When I got my initial card two years back , I got the card within 3 days of approval.
It's already 2 weeks since I was on loss of pay. Can we call NCSC asking for card status?

Also is it possible that USCIS send approval notice/card and online status didn't reflect?

Thanks

EAD card returned as undeliverable. Took six months in total.
September16 -- Sent the EAD application and fee
September18 -- Application center received the documents
September22 -- Updated the status saying that they received the application on September 18
September24 -- received the I797C notice
December 10 -- Called NCSC to notify that my case is approaching regulatory time frame "service request". http://www.uscis.gov/forms/tip-sheet-employment-authorization-applications-pending-more-75-days
December 12 -- USCIS Ordered the new card
December 17 -- The new card was produced and mailed to me
The process is very smooth so far and the trouble starts now.

December 19 -- The card was returned by USPS as undeliverable due to some unknown reason. I received two more letters to the same address from USCIS after this. I have my name on the mail box. I contacted USPS and they said the apartment number might be missing. I contacted USCIS and they said the address on their file has apartment number. Due to holidays, USCIS updated the status on January 2 that they received the returned card.
December 22 -- Filed a service request to resend the card.

January 06 -- USCIS responds to service request that they are resending the card.

February 06 -- Even after 30 days from receiving the response they did not send the card. I called them again and they told me to to place another service request, which I did. They let me talk to the second tier immigration officer this time. The officer placed another request to expedite the case based on financial distress. I contacted TSC by email also on the same day.
February 09 -- The request to expedite is rejected as the request is related to 'mailing' of the documents.
February 13 -- Contacted School to see if they can help me. School told me to 'just wait'.
February 23 -- Made an appointment with infopass. I did the appointment in a US state which is not same as the state from which I filed the application. The immigration officer was very rude and told me that she won't help me as I am from another state. She told me that she can't do any thing I have to contact NCSC.
February 24 -- Ran a self-check and gave me a DHD mis match. DHS asked me to wait 7 days to respond about my mis match.
February 25 -- Filed a case with Ombudsman http://www.dhs.gov/publication/omb-questions. Ombudsman contacted USCIS in a week. They told me that it might take upto 45 days to get a response from USCIS.

March 03 -- DHS told me that I am legally eligible to work.
March 03 -- emailed [email protected]. about my original December 22 service request.

March 06 -- 30 days after filing the second service request. No response yet. They transfer the call it second tier officer. He tells me that there have been 4 requests in the system to resend the card. He won't file another one. He told me that there are huge delays at TSC and I would wait 15-25 days for my card.
March 06 -- Contacted local congressman about my situation. His office staff were very nice to me and they contacted USCIS immediately. They told me to wait for 30 days for a response.
March 06 -- Contacted lawyers about my situation. They said without the Actual EAD card although I am eligible to work, I can not start my employment due to I-9 filing. The option left is to apply for a replacement card as the card is stuck with USCIS. I applied for the replacement card on March 10.

March 20 -- Received the I797-C notice for the replacement card. My employer accepted the notice for the replacement card and gave me a start date.
March 24 -- Out of the blue USCIS started responding to my service requests. All of them. I got my original card with in a day.

The whole process is very stressful and USCIS does not have a mechanism to talk to people who are involved in the process. Even their own contact email addresses at TSC won't respond to my requests for months. Some of the immigration officers were empathetic, but they were unable to help. The Ombudsman yearly report to congress (http://www.dhs.gov/sites/default/files/publications/cisomb-annual-report-2014-508compliant.pdf) suggests lot of modifications to the system. Hopefully, USCIS will make this process smoother.

Regarding Biometric
I have filed for my EAD and on March 31st my status changed to "
Card Was Ordered To Be Produced" . Today as a surprise a biometric notice reached my mailbox( thanks to USPS for the great delay, it was sent out on March 20) . Right now I'm deeply confused, reasons are as follows.

1. Biometric notice was sent before my correspondence reached uscis.
2. After the correspondance had reached and been reviewed the status had changed to Card produced

does anyone here thinks I really need to go through the biometric. Also do we need to give any payment for biometrics when we go for it, as have paid only 380$

Looking forward to sooner replies as biometric date is April 9th .Thanks in advance for tips!

EAD not delivered and without tracking number
My EAD Card was approved on 28th Feb and Card ordered on 6th march and mailed on 13th march. However I haven't yet received the card. I called the USCIS customer service and they could not locate the tracking number.

I am not sure what to do next? Without a tracking number I don't know whether the USCIS people have even mailed the card or the card is lost in mail by the USPS. I am freaking out.....

Any help regarding this will be highly appreciated..... What should I do???

EAD pending 75days +
Hi guys,

I am currently waiting on my EAD and it has been pending for 75 days next week. I have read that you can ring up uscis at this point and ask for it to be looked at in the hope that it is then given within the 90 days - has anyone had luck with this?
We have lawyers who are helping us with the employment based greencard but they seem to have old information regarding the EAD process and dont understand that I wish to get it as soon as possible in order to start looking for a job, so its up to me t follow up with uscis.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!
