EB2 ROW - Supplement J post I-485 Interview
Hey everyone,

First of all I'd like to thank everyone who has posted on this forum. I have been following this page for more than 2 years at this point, and the advice/experiences have kept me sane throughout this whole process. Timelines, comments, experiences are simply invaluable to anyone in this unnecessarily convoluted, obscure and inefficient process. THANK YOU.

On to my specific situation. Timeline and question below:

Classification: EB2 non-NIW, ROW - Currently on H-1B expiring 08/2021
Location: Manhattan NY

October 2017 - PERM Submitted to DOL
April 2018 - PERM approval
07/30/2018 - I-140 (regular processing) / I-485 & I-765 (concurrent w/ I-140) sent to USCIS
08/06/2019 - I-140 / I-485 / I765 USCIS receipt notices mailed
08/21/2019 - Petition to change I-140 to premium processing submitted to USCIS
08/28/2019 - I-140 Approval notice (online) received:
08/29/2019 - Biometric Appointment Notice received from USCIS
09/10/2019 - Notice that I-485 petition transferred to NBC
09/18/2019 - Biometric Appointment completed
09/19/2019 - Employment Authorization Petition (i-765) approved

......at that point I was thinking "this petition is flying through! By Xmas I'll have a GC".... WRONG!

Huge gap with no news & a LOT of frustration and stress!

FINALLY:
04/22/2019 - "We are ready to schedule your Form i-485 for an interview"
05/02/2019 - "We scheduled your Interview"
06/13/2019 - Interview completed at the Manhattan field office

Experience during the interview (really straightforward - 15 mins max):

Oath, fingerprinting, picture and then interview starts.

IO was cordial, friendly and professional, asked for Birth certificate, Pay-stubs, 2018 W2, 2018 Tax Return.

Then started discussing my job (2-3 sentences). I have been promoted (Sr Director, from Director), but the role is pretty much the same as the one for the I-140. IO nevertheless asked for Supplement J, which I already had with me and provided on the spot.

IO said interview was completed and that she'll "wait for the I-485 Supplement J go through the system" and then she will go ahead and APPROVE my case.

3 weeks later, no approval, no online update since "Interview scheduled" notice.

Today I received a notice in the mail (out of the blue) from USCIS with what appears to be a receipt notice for I-485 J. Notice says specifically that "Case was received and filing fees are waived" and has a separate receipt number than the one on I-485.

Anyone on the same boat? Do you need to wait for Sup J approval before I-485 approval? How long does this usually take?

My advice to all: there is nothing you can do other than being patient. Unfortunately you have no control of the process and you just have to take it one day at a time.

Biometric appointment and EAD?
Hi,

My husband filed EB1 I140, EAD and AP and with receipt notice of May 16 2019 and on May 21st only I 485 was sent to NBC..we filed from Texas

No any updates from that initial notice..Any idea when can we atleast expect Buometirc appointment? I see most of others got atleast biometric fast like within a month or two...

My Work visa expires sep 1st week , worried that we won’t get EAD by then..atleast biometric is done I can think of expediting the EAD .. Any advice on this situation?

Good that I can atleast stay in US even my visa expires in pending I485 but it’s hard for me to get job if I loose current one and we can’t extend my visa now so dependent on EAD through my husband GC

EB3 Experience and question
My experience so far:

02/25/2019 - Filed I-485,I-140 (regular). I-765 and I-131.
03/27/2019 - Biometrics Appointment
06/17/2019 - Received EAD/AP combo card.

I have a quick question, maybe someone knows the answer: does the I-140 regular filing slows down the process to get the I-485 approved? I am just wondering if they don't start processing it until the I-140 is approved.

Thanks!

Green Card - Employment Based
Hello All,

I have been a silent reader since the start of the application and i want to share my interview experience with y'all:

I had my interview yesterday 6/26/2019 in Houston USCIS office (wife and myself). We waited for 50 minutes until the officer called our names. Interview was very easy. He asked about date of marriage, my job title and job description. He asked the area (not the address) where i worked-gave him nearest highway intersections. He then went over the questionnaires (I485) with my wife and myself.

I have a lot of documents with me, but he only looked at:
*Tax Returns
*Pay Stubs
*Job offer Letter
*Marriage Certificate
*Birth Certificate
*Passports
*Combo Cards
*Medical Examination

Officer was professional and the interview lasted about 25-30 min. He gave us letter that states "interview was completed and my case must be reviewed" but he did communicate approval of the application and told us that this letter is just a formality.

Time line:
06/04/2018: I131,I140, I485,I765 received by USCIS
09/18/2018: Combo card issued
03/05/2019: I140 approved
05/21/2019: Interview Notice
06/25/2019: Interview at Houston, Tx
06/25/2019: One hour after interview, case status chanted to "interview was completed and my case must be reviewed"
06/26/2019: New card is being produced

Apologies for the long post.

Be patient, don't worry about the interview (super easy) and good luck y'all!!

AP document of Son
Hi All,

I have got the notification of AP Approval for me, my wife and my son. I have received EAD/AP combo cards for me and my wife yesterday through priority mail but did not get the AP card for my son yet.

Anyone has been in a similar situation? How much longer it may take as there is no combo card for him and it should come through normal USPA mail.

Thanks!
