Employment-based Green Card Interview (Newark)
I didn't find a lot of sharing about the employment-based GC interviews, so I wanted to share mine today (6/11/2019).

My interview was held in Newark, NJ. It is a federal building, so the line of security check entering the building is so... long. I arrived 45 mins before the schedule and I thought i was too early as the interview letter says pls don't come earlier than 30 mins of scheduled time, but I ended up 2 minutes late. But don't worry, they didn't really check the time when I checked in.

There were around 50 persons in the waiting area when I arrived and I waited 1.5 hours for the interview and basically all the people arrived before me also got called before me. I guess it is kind of first come first serve rather than according to the scheduled time. There were plenty of seats in the waiting area and there were also bathrooms right outside. You are allowed to use cell phone, provided that you set it to vibration mode. fyi, you can observe that employment-based candidates are all in suits/dresses while family-based, asylum candidates are mostly in jeans.

The interview took about 15 mins, the immigration officer was really nice and the interview went smooth. Below are what he did in the interview:
1. oath and fingerprint
2. checked the official copy of my birth certificate and passport
3. asked for the latest paystub, medical exam I-693, job offer letter I-485J, 2 new passport photos, I-94 for my last entry to US
4. asked me what I did in my job
5. asked me once again all the Y/N questions in the form
6. confirm my mailing address

Pls notice that the passport photos are not listed in the interview letter but I received the pink courtesy letter requesting photos, so I took a new set just in case and they really asked for it.
Although not required, make a photocopy of your passport and EAD. They asked me if I had one for my passport and I did. That saves their time to make photocopy and you also want the interview to finish as quick as possible.

At the end, he stamped on my file and said my case was approved. He gave me an official notice with a tick box saying the interview was completed but held for review. He asked me not to worry, my case was approved as there was simply no "approved" tick box in the standard notice. I checked online few hours later and it was already saying "card in production".

I-485/EAD/AP filed, finger print done, EAD/AP awaited
Hello Guys,

My I-485 on EB3 was filed in Jan 28, 2019 at Nebraska Service Center.
Though I have completed finger prints in Mar 2019, I haven't yet received EAD/AP.
I was hoping to get it b/w 90 to 120 days, now that it's more than 120 days, I am yet to receive.

Anyone having filed during this time at Nebraska Service Center and facing same issue?
Are there cases EAD/AP is issued beyond 120 days?

Thanks.

Employment based green card experience
We filed our i485 and i140 concurrently. Our priority date became current due to cross charge ability as I was born in UAE. My husband is born in India. I140 was filed in premium and was approved in 2 weeks.

I485, i140, i131, i765 filed -Aug 30th
I140 approved sept 15
Biometrics appointment October 1st.
EAD AND AP approved nov 14.
Interview scheduled-May 1st
Interview-June 10
Status updated as new card in production June 11th.

We went for the interview at the girl office in Manchester, NH. The officer was very kind. We had our three kids aged 7,4 and 1 with us. She gave them colluding sheets and crayons. And was very accommodating of our baby too. She began by making us take an oath saying that we will only be saying the truth. Then she asked us if our lawyer will be accompanying us and since we didn’t have our lawyer with us we had to sign a form stating that we are ok with it. Then she took both mine as well as my husband’s i485 forms simultaneously and went through all the biographic information first. She cross checked everything with our passports. she asked me my husband’s details and my husband mine. Like name, date of birth, parents names, social security number etc. my husband got most of my details wrong 😂 but she figured it was because he was tensed. She asked us our children’s names and dates of birth too. Then she asked my husband about his work. What his previous designation was. She asked for the employment verification letter. We gave her the supplement J which our lawyer prepared for us for a fee of 250 but she said it was not required as my husband’s job hadn’t changed since the application was submitted. She took my husband’s employment verification letter that was dated just a few days before the interview. His experience letter, letters confirming previous employment etc. she then went through all the yes or no questions in the form i485. I had been rejected a L1 visa in 2007 so I told her that and gave her the paper that I received from the embassy that time. She took a copy of it. I also had received a ticket for crossing a red signal few years back and so when she asked if we ever received any citations/arrests etc. I mentioned that. She noted it down and wrote that no court was needed. She made some notifications on the form like anything which she had clarified like the rejection notice copy she received the information about the citation etc on the form and made us sign it for verification. That was mostly it. She mentioned that she hadn’t received our background checks and so she wouldn’t be able to close the case right away.

2 hours after the interview our online case status was changed from interview scheduled to interview completed my case is under review. This scared us a little because a lot of times when that status comes up especially for a background check it could take months or even years I read but by God’s grace the status changed today to new card in production. I’m so thankful to God.

I wanted to post this as there is very little employment based interview experiences posted online. All the best and God bless

EAD Service Center
I am trying to figure out how long it will take between filing the green card application and receiving the EAD/AP card.

Do all EAD/AP derived from an employment(eb2) based green card application get routed through the National Benefits Center?

My attorney has indicated it will take 4 months to receive the EAD/AP card but that does not seem to match with some of the experiences reported on here. USCIS website is reporting 6.5-8.5 months for I-765 processing time at the National Benefits Center.

Any information is appreciated. Thanks for your help.
