Green Card Interview
hello everyone.

I have my Interview scheduled on 24th January.
marriage based Green Card.Concurrent filing.

I have some issues and concerns regarding documents i need to bring to the interview.

Even though we have been married for 5years, we do not have any joint documents together, such as lease, rent. bank or card, insurance. Simply because we never needed one.
For past 5 years i have been visiting back and forth with my B-2 visa. so we never needed those joint documents.

will this be an issue? what should i do in this regard?

can anyone help me with some suggestions or ideas?

thanks

Green card through Marriage
I would like to share my experience of doing the paper work for my husband’s immigration for green Card. (he was not in US during this whole time ) I sent all the required documents to NVC.
I did paper marriage in 08/2015 and filled for his immigration in 04/2016.
I waited for this long because I myself was a green card holder and I wanted to apply for citizenship. I applied for my citizenship in 04/2016. So both the process started almost together.
I heard back from USCIS on 09/2016 that the paperwork is approved and the case is moved to NVC. And because I’m a green card holder I’m in queue until it’s my turn ( for green card holders the time frame is anywhere between 1.5-2 years)
In 01/2017 I got my US citizenship. The same day I called NVC and informed them about my status change. They asked me to send them my naturalization form in the form of email. One week later they informed me that my case is open. And I can start the 6 steps process. I and my husband then started it by paying the fee and filling out forms DS-260. We then collected all the financial documents, made a packet and send everything as directed to NVC.
I haven’t heard back from USCIS till April. I went to overseas in 04/2017 due to some personal reasons.
Anyways we kept calling NVC and finally in 06/2017 they told us that we are missing the police certificate of my husband. And the one we sent is wrong police certificate. ( it’s one of the document from the list of documents you send to NVC). Me and my husband clearly remembered that we had sent 2 police certificates because the country my husband lives in had 2 different kinds. In case they accept only one. But NVC insisted that that they don’t have the correct one. We insisted and told them even if we send it again it would be the same document. They said we can wait for the supervisor to look into the documents again but this will take 2 weeks. We said ok we will wait for 2 weeks. After 2 weeks we called them again and were told the same thing.
In 07/2017 We sent the SAME DOCUMENT again (NVC always takes 4-6 weeks in processing your documents regardless of if it’s a whole packet of documents or just one document) and started waiting for their decision. We haven’t heard back from them till August. So we decided to call them again. Luckily this representative we spoke to was extremely good and he suggested us that we can EXPEDITE the process. He explained us the procedure. ( it’s writing an email explains why you want to expedite) we explained our problems. The expedite request was accepted in a week. My husband did his Medi-Cal in August and got an interview call in September, the 2nd week of swore embrace he gave his interview and after ONE day he got his visa.

By sharing this whole story I wanted to inform people of my experience and on top of everything I want to share THE EXPEDITE process. People don’t know this thing, so please if you want your case to be processed fast, just ask them to expedite it as soon as it’s transfers to NVC.

Thanks

We have been waiting for TWO years for AOS.
Hi y'all! We have been waiting for almost two years for an adjustment of status. My wife came over from China on a K1 visa and we got married in April of 2016. Shortly after we filed the I-485 to adjust her status so she could get a status of conditional permanent residency. We thereafter received notice that the I-485 was received. It is now 2018 with no word of how the process has been going. Whenever we contact them they apologize for the wait, but they make no attempt to clarify the situation. Any ideas for paths forward? Thanks all!
(We had been living together romantically in China from the summer of 2010 to the summer of 2014 when I left to the US to work on this immigration process. While we we on opposite hemispheres, we video chatted for hours everyday until she finally came over on the K1 visa in February of 2016.)

Upgrade green card application possible?
Hi everyone,

I am new to this forum and I do not know where to post my question.
My mother applied a green card for my sister in 1993. At that time she was unmarried. Our case got approved and we waited for entry visa. By 2006 I got my visa and green card but my sister did not because meanwhile she got married.
In 2017 my mother got her US citizenship.
My question is, can my mother apply for upgrade of status for my sister with her old green card application number since my mother is now a US citizen and can apply for married sons and daughters. She could not do it when she had only a green card.
I appreciate your help.

Green card received
I prayed to God for the best interviewing officer and I got one. The IO went through everything with a fine tooth comb. People God really don't like ugly. It's like the IO could see thru my husband and see that he means me no good. She went as far as to point out some issues with the health card given to me by my husband. She told me it should not be so my husband adjusted some stuff. The IO dealt with my husband pretty rough but my husband sure held his own.

At one point I wanted to go to the interview alone but I was advised not to. Even the night before the interview my husband said he will decide by then and in the morning if he will come to the interview with me. God really favoured me.....

Green card received
Hi everyone.

Please read my previous experiences.

Interview on Dec 13, 2017, 7:15 am @Holtsville Long Island. We were not called until after 9:00 am. It was a very intense interview for my husband (serious interrogation) The I.O was very very nice to me.
The IO pointed out the red flags in our case:
24 yrs age difference, husband got in trouble (very big case), husband moved in with my family, married at courthouse no family only friends, no reception.

I was well prepared and composed. I was asked the yes/no questions, name and age of my husband children,if I met them, when I got my visa, When did I resign from my job, why did I marry my husband.

These people conduct some serious background checks.
They know everything about you. Long story short my husband is a vet and the IO also a vet.
I intentionally left out most of the details for fear of being identified.

Approved on spot
I 130 approval received. Dec 19, 2017
Green card in hand. Dec 20, 2017

I want to thank each and everyone on this forum for sharing your experiences. This wasn't an easy process for me. I held my own because I needed my husband for the interview. To those still in the process I wish you all the very best.
Ask any questions I'll answer.
