H1B VISA first time stamping at Mumbai on Feb 17th
Hello all you nervous lads, thank you all for sharing your experiences.
My OFC appointment was on the 16th and VISA appointment was on the 17th Feb at Mumbai consulate.
After waiting in line for over 3 hours with no air condition and over hearing at least 4 H1B rejections it was finally my turn with the VO who rejected one of them.
ME: Good morning, how are you doing today?
VO: I am doing great! How about you?
ME: I am doing great myself, thanks for asking. (I wanted to mention that there was no air on our side but they did have it on their side as I could feel the cool breeze from the counter opening but I stopped myself – guess it helped)
VO: Please give me your passport and i797.
ME: I slid my PP and i797.
VO: Are you into hospitality? (Because of the name of the company I work for)
ME: No, I work for a real estate development firm that builds assisted living facilities.
VO: Oh, okay, that makes sense. So you studied at UIUC? What was your program?
ME: MS in Civil with emphasis in construction management and real estate.
VO: That is interesting, did you ever think you would build assisted living buildings?
ME: No, but with all the baby boomers it was inevitable. I started with residential but ended up here but I am enjoying what I am doing.
VO: So what’s your position?
ME: I gave that info.
VO: What’s your salary?
ME: I gave that info.
VO: Congratulations, your VISA is approved.
ME: Thank you very much.
VO: When are you heading back to India?
ME: Sorry!?
VO: Oh, I meant to the states?
ME: March 5th.
VO: Okay, we have to do some clearing on your student record, completely administrative at our end and you should not have to change your plan.
ME: (In my mind I am screwed) So what do you think is the timeline?
VO: Should be about 4 to 5 days, don’t worry, you’ll get an SMS when your PP is ready.
ME: (In my mind, this is BS, it’s going to be an extended vacation now) Okay, thank you and I left with a big fake smile.
As of today, Feb 22nd, my DS-160 tracking says “Administrative Processing” and my passport tracking says “Your passport is still with the US Embassy/Consulate”. My friend (same school with CS background and working in startup) did his process over 2.5 weeks ago in HYD and his VO told him his VISA was approved but it’s in Administrative Processing. Not trying to scare anyone, just sharing my experience. I have been told it’s with most of the F1 to H1B transitions. Anyway, I hope I am wrong and you guys and gals get your PP ASAP. Just be yourself and be confident and your interview will be a breeze.

LCA and Organization designation
Hello,
I am working in US and have stamping in India next month.My LCA says project manager (which i am currently working as) and designation in organization is "consultant" ,all documents such as pay slips,offer letter etc has designation consultant.
What can i says if officer is asking about difference in designation between LCA and organization designation in payslips etc ( which i see very unlikely) but still trying to prepared.
any suggestions.

H1B New Stamping Experience @ Hyderabad
Hello everyone, first of all thanks to you all for sharing your experiences. This had helped me a lot during my H1B interview.
Here is my Hyderabad consulate experience for H1 and H4 on 9th Feb, 2017
Bio metric - 8th Feb
Interview - 9th Feb
I went with my wife and daughter and we had a early morning slot.
Officer - Good Morning
Me - Good morning officer
Officer - Who is your petitioner?
Me - YYYY X
Officer - Who is client?
Me - YYYY X
Officer - Where will you be going in US?
Me - YYYY X
Officer - What is your salary?
Me - YYYY X
Then she turned to my wife and asked couple of questions
Officer - How long have you been married?
My wife - YYYY X
Officer - Is this your only child?
My wife - YYYY X
Then she started scribbling something in her system for next few minutes. Suddenly she asked whether you have been to USA before.
Me: i traveled on YYYY visa few years ago.
She asked my previous passport where i had previous USA and other country visas .Then she again started typing/searching something in her system for and then asked if i had an issue with the immigration officer at that time?
Me: No Officer.
She again started searching in her system for about 5 minutes and asked if i had been to belarus?
Me: No Officer. (I thought i don't even remember where is this country on the world map :))
She did some typing again and said your been has been issued :)
We collected our passport on 14th from consulate.
The only advice i can give is that be confident and listen to each question carefully before answering.

Query related to H1B Amendment REF to Visa stamping
Hi,
Greetings!!!.
I have applied for H1B Amendment & My amendment request gone for RFE and the additional docs yet to submitted to USCIS from my employer.
But I have booked Bio metrics and stamping Next week in Chennai consulate using my amendment receipt.
Below are some of clarifications.
1. Is there anyone completed the Visa stamping as same as my case in Chennai consulate?
2. If yes is there any Visa denied or i221g notice given for the case like above.
3. For my case is there any chance that VO can ask questions related to my amendment RFE?
I have checked with my friends circle and am not able to find the same case as my case. So only i just wanna check with you all.
if you can provide the information at the earliest it will be really great for me.

Hello All,
Apparently the Trump administration is planning to introduce a new travel ban next week. I am planning to travel to India for my H1 B visa stamping the same time . Should I be worried about my travel or stamping ?.
I know its a bit early to ask since the bill is not out yet. But is there any thought if it will impact Indians ? . Thanks
