H-1B Visa Interview @ Hyderabad on Feb14
My spouse interview experience

Date of Interview : Feb 14
Profile: Ful time for reputed Company
VO Questions: Employer , Salary, Roles and Responsibilities
My Question to VO: Do you use our product and what is your expereince
Result: Visa Approved

Observations: Consulate was very quiet with very few people , majority were parents for visiting visas, there were some H1-B cases, all the cases around that time were approved did not hear any 221g etc.

All the best, be calm and confident, don't believe in medial and whatsapp rumours.

Let's say if the interview goes well and visa is approved, how long does it take for the passport to be ready for pick-up after the interview? Please share your experience.

H1/H4 visa interview at Hyderabad on 02/13
Consulate: Hyderabad
Finger printing: Feb 12 at 1 PM
Interview date: Feb 13 at 11 AM
Background:
Masters in US
7th year extension and third visa stamping (first in Canada, second in Mexico, now in India)
Approved I140
Wife was on H1 for 6 years and recently changed her status to H4 and got EAD.
Both of us are FTE for US employees.

Interview was at 11 AM and we were in line by 10 AM and were let in right away. We went through security check and went to a waiting area where they give you "know your rights" pamphlet. After few mins waiting went to a lime where they verify your finger printing and went to another line where they give you window number.

Interview:
Vo: Hello
Me: Hello. How are you doing today?
Vo: doing good. How are you?
Me: doing good. Thank.
Vo: How long have you been married mam(to my wife)
Wifey: 5 years
Vo: purpose of your visit
Me: going to work as a Sr. Software Eng. for xx company.
Vo: How long have you been working for xx company?
Me: 5 years
Vo: What is tour salary?
Me: xx USD per year
Vo: Highest education
Me: Masters in CS
Vo: is it in India or US
Me: US
Vo: Which university?
Me: xx university

He did not ask us any documents not even I797.

He was typing all along and then started writing something on the back of our passports where they put a sticker. He said not able to issue your visa right now. We need to do some research on our side probably will take an extra day. It was visible what he wrote and it said "PIMS". I hope it approves soon. I have 28 days left in my India trip.

Few observations:
There were lot of H1, F1 and B1/B2 visa applicants and most of the visas were approved. There were few 221g's issued for H1's and with all due respect to them they were really terrible. They did not answer basic questions and most of their answers seemed scripted and trained. At least they should improvise based on the question.

Bottom line I did not feel any difference in the way they were treating or questioning the visa applicants due to trump effect. As long as you are confident and answer them properly it should be a cake walk.

Good luck everyone!!

Received 221g Chennai Consulate
Hello,
I had my visa interview today and I work on EVC model with a small consulting firm and in-between I have an implementation partner then the Client. So I have one layer between my employer and end-client. I had all the client letter, work order, agreement from the middle layer and my client did not provide any documentation. Visa officer requested for some documentation from end-client which I did not have. After couple of hours of verification they handed me a 221g blue slip it had case number and none of the document checklist/drop-box/in-person interview was checked. Your application requires additional administrative processing until final decision is made was checked and they returned my passport and took all my documents and I797 with them. Will USCIS or DHS contact my employer or client to request additional documentation? Now I have to cancel my return trip and wait indefinitely.

I am going to attend H1B stamping at HYD on Feb 28th.

I am working on EVC model and have all documents.

Appreciate any input.

Interview at hyd@2/2

Here is the status of mine
I attended interview on 2-Feb and VO said visa approved and took copy of my I797. I was eagely checking the status everyday from that day. Here is the sequence.

2-Feb Admin process (interview date)
9-Feb Admin process
10-Feb Admin process
13-Feb Issued.

Looks like my petition was not updated in PIMS, that might have caused delay.... now i realized why VO asked for photocopy of my I797. my extension was approved on 11-Jan.

hope this help who is waiting for their status after interview.

Salary question
Hi all,

I am appearing for stamping in India in mid march , I read that everyone suggests to answer basic questions as per petition. for example salary .

Now my salary increased as part of annual performance review , after the petition was created and H1B extension approved, so the petition has old salary. (per hour)

If I am asked what is your salary ? should i answer the latest salary , or should say as per petition ?

H1 interview @Chennai
VAC appointment - 12th Feb.
Documents asked : only passport + ds160 conf + appointment conf.

Interview appointment - 13th Feb. 10:30am slot

Ppl, no need to go 1-2 hrs early, as the officials were checking the time and
allowing only half an hr prior. So it should be fine if you reach consulate office atleast half an hr early.

Documents asked : only passport ( no l979)

Greeted the interviewer as soon as I step into the counter.
I was feeling nervous while standing in the queue. As the interviewer approved one of the H1 Infront of me, got some confidence. He was asking only 4-5 questions. For other blankets B&L, interview questions were strong and digging into each details. Dont worry about that, H1 interview is like cake walk. Only pay attention to interviewer and ans to the point. Below are the questions asked for me:

1. Who is your petitioner?
     Petitioner is xxx.

2. How long you have been working for them?
Approximately yyy years and mmm month.

3. Who is your end client?
     ZZZ.

Deliberately he spelled it wrong and checked whether I can spell properly. I spelt it properly and he was very happy hearing the client name. Some times your client name itself can get you through.

4. What you do for them?
    Briefed about project and duties.

Then the golden words : "Your VISA is approved , please have the know your rights booklet. Have a nice day ".
