H1B Visa Stamping @ Chennai-13/02/2017
Hi Friends,

I was a silent reader from 2 yrs and now it’s my turn to share my experience.
Let me start from the beginning, My company initiated my L1B in 2015 but it was rejected as "My skills were not falling under special skilled worker so I was suggested me to apply me for different Visa category”, but I didn’t lose my hope and tried to push my organization for H1B Visa.

Below is my experience for H1B Visa interview in Chennai on 13th Feb 2017.

ME : Good Morning Office
VO : Good Morning

VO : Can I have your Passport ?
ME : I Have handed over the passports

VO : Can I see your I 797
ME : Sure..handed over

VO : Who is your Petitioner
ME : YYYY is my Petitioner

VO : Who is your Client and which city
ME : YYYY is my Client, YYYY city in US

VO : What is your salary?
ME : YYYY dollar Annually

VO : What is your highest level of Education?
ME : YYYY replied

Then VO asked questions to my wife, so I got relaxed as my turn is over now.

VO : What is your highest level of Education?
Spouse : YYYY replied

VO : How long you have been married ?
Spouse: YYYY Years

Again VO asked question to me, so I got shocked as I was in relax mode but no other go...

VO : What is your highest level of Education?
ME : YYYY replied

VO : What is your job responsibility with this Client?
ME : 1st I got confused and replied my designation and stopped….
but he asked again the same question...then I explain my role and responsibility in 3 to 4 lines.

Then VO office started looking into the system for 2 mins and in-between he said “oh my god” and that was really scary moment for me...I thought it’s went for a toss now.

Finally after 1 min the golden words came “Your visa is approved"
I took long breath inside and replied thanks to VO officer...

Observation: Don’t try to concentrate on other people conversation, be confident and try to reply straight forward answer with smile.

I believe in luck is major factor in H1B which is why I guess today you would be gathering the information through this forum and waiting for your stamping date, so as we already have the luck, we just need to make some extra effort to prove ourselves . Give your 100%!!

Good luck everyone!!!

Visa experience @ Mumbai
I had my H1b visa interview yesterday in Mumbai.

VO asked below questions:

1) Which company are you joining?
2) What you'll be doing? roles and responsibility
3) Salary?

No docs asked apart from I797

Then VO switched questions to my wife

1) Love or arrange marriage?
2) When did you got married?
3) Have kids?
4) Why did you married him?
5) How many people came in weeding?
6) Asked to show wedding album.

The VO was very friendly, she was asking all questions with smile. Our nervousness and anxiety went away the moment interview started.

And then she said "Your visa is approved"

Now, today everything changed suddenly !

Got call from VO and she said that we are returning back your passports with 221g slip. We need further info on your application, till then you have to provide us two documents i.e. offer letter and detailed project description.

I have searched everywhere and couldn't find someone gone through same experience as mine !

My spouse interview experience

Date of Interview : Feb 14
Profile: Ful time for reputed Company
VO Questions: Employer , Salary, Roles and Responsibilities
My Question to VO: Do you use our product and what is your expereince
Result: Visa Approved

Observations: Consulate was very quiet with very few people , majority were parents for visiting visas, there were some H1-B cases, all the cases around that time were approved did not hear any 221g etc.

All the best, be calm and confident, don't believe in medial and whatsapp rumours.

H1/H4 visa interview at Hyderabad on 02/13
Consulate: Hyderabad
Finger printing: Feb 12 at 1 PM
Interview date: Feb 13 at 11 AM
Background:
Masters in US
7th year extension and third visa stamping (first in Canada, second in Mexico, now in India)
Approved I140
Wife was on H1 for 6 years and recently changed her status to H4 and got EAD.
Both of us are FTE for US employees.

Interview was at 11 AM and we were in line by 10 AM and were let in right away. We went through security check and went to a waiting area where they give you "know your rights" pamphlet. After few mins waiting went to a lime where they verify your finger printing and went to another line where they give you window number.

Interview:
Vo: Hello
Me: Hello. How are you doing today?
Vo: doing good. How are you?
Me: doing good. Thank.
Vo: How long have you been married mam(to my wife)
Wifey: 5 years
Vo: purpose of your visit
Me: going to work as a Sr. Software Eng. for xx company.
Vo: How long have you been working for xx company?
Me: 5 years
Vo: What is tour salary?
Me: xx USD per year
Vo: Highest education
Me: Masters in CS
Vo: is it in India or US
Me: US
Vo: Which university?
Me: xx university

He did not ask us any documents not even I797.

He was typing all along and then started writing something on the back of our passports where they put a sticker. He said not able to issue your visa right now. We need to do some research on our side probably will take an extra day. It was visible what he wrote and it said "PIMS". I hope it approves soon. I have 28 days left in my India trip.

Few observations:
There were lot of H1, F1 and B1/B2 visa applicants and most of the visas were approved. There were few 221g's issued for H1's and with all due respect to them they were really terrible. They did not answer basic questions and most of their answers seemed scripted and trained. At least they should improvise based on the question.

Bottom line I did not feel any difference in the way they were treating or questioning the visa applicants due to trump effect. As long as you are confident and answer them properly it should be a cake walk.

Good luck everyone!!
