H1b Stamping - help needed
Hello Friends,

First of all I will give a brief description about my background,

I came to US for masters in 2012, completed my masters in 2014 in electrical engineering and later joined in small consultancy and worked there for 1.5 years on their In-house project which was a IT project. After that I moved to another consultancy which sponsored H1B with their inhouse project but worked for one short term project with ABC client for 4 months after moving. After that I got a full time offer with XYZ client, so kept H1b transfer to that client and currently working there from last 6 months.

I have a travel plan to India this week and planning to attend h1b visa stamping on 22nd feb. this would be my first h1b stamping and it is f1 - h1 transition.

Do you guys recommend to travel outside US and attend H1b stamping at this point of time since there is lot of scrutiny going on and I have heard they are issuing 221g at high rate.
And also my education background is in Electrical and I am doing job in IT field. Will there be a problem on this and is there more possibility of scrutinity because of this?

My company's HR and attorney advised not to travel outside US at this point, I also took appointment with one of the attorney from **** * law firm for second opinion who suggested the same.

Could any one suggest if I can travel right now or should I drop off my plans for now? Thanks in advance.

Visa interview-Consulate
Hello,
Need some help from this forum. Do we need to schedule H1B visa interview at the consulate that falls under our region or can we book at any consulate. I know that we can technically book at any consulate but was wondering can there be any detrimental effect on the visa approval if we book at a consulate that is outside the region.

Thanks

H1B Approved @ Mumbai
Hi All,

It took a while to post my experience, but thought of sharing it if someone here would benefit.

I had the finger printing appointment on 24th Oct 2016 at 4:30 PM at Mumbai VAC. This is a very straight forward process. Need not carry whole bunch of documents with you, only passport and the appointment confirmation is important.

On the next day, 25th Oct 2016 the interview was scheduled at 10:00 AM. Below were questions asked by VO,

VO: Good Morning!
Me: Very Good Morning Sir!

Asked for I-979 & passport.

VO: Whom do you currently work with?
Me: XYZ

VO: What is your current designation?
Me: XYZ

VO: You will be working at client side, where is your client located?
Me: XYZ

VO: What will be your salary in the US?
Me: Answered

Returned back I-797.

VO: Congratulations Sir, your visa is approved! Your passport will be ready in 3 to 4 days.
Me: Thank you Sir! Have a nice day ahead.

That was all, it lasted for not more than 2 mins. In between he used to check something in his computer.

Basically, just be relaxed and confident. Just be yourself.

Thank you

Alok

H1B Approval @Hyderabad Consulate
Hope all of your visa concerns are being answered at this forum. My Visa interview was on Feb 1st 2017.

Interview

VO: Pass your Passport & I797
Me: Passed

VO: Who is your petitioner
Me: Answered

VO: Do you have a client
ME: Yes, Named along with address

VO: Ok , Your visa is approved.

Interview lasted 15 secs. Took my passport. Be confident and interact. This was my first H1B; Previously worked in Singapore.

I've seen 99% success rate for H1B and rare 221g during my time at the consulate. Prior to me a guy was interviewed for H1B Extension along with his wife. Mean no disrespect but from the sound of it this lad completed his Masters in the USA and came for an extension having already worked there.

His interview lasted 8 minutes as this man was not able to answer basic questions like what was your project you worked on? client name? No client letter? no project documentation? He was stuttering under pressure. Eventually VO said " Seems like your work was genuine but your not able to explain the same today; which is why I'm approving your visa"

Above example was for the curious tensed lads to say that VO's are issuing visa irrespective. Dont believe in rumors. Yes there are bound to be H1B changes in near future but not to the tune where it would impact an experienced genuine individuals.

I received my stamped passport in 3 business days. Yes, it was termed "admin processing" until the "issued" message popped.

I'm flying to the US on Feb 17th. Good luck

H1-B Approved @HYD Consulate Feb8th,2017
We have attended the Consular interview today for both H1 & H4.

Interview slot :11:30 am but we were allowed in by 10:15 am.
After the initial security check we were given the Token with counter #

Please note , there were hardly few applicants and we didn't had to wait /sit anytime during our interview as opposed to my earlier experience (2012 stamping)

VO : Who is your petitioner ?
Answered

VO: Who is your Client?
Answered

VO: Client location?
Answered

VO: Your VISA is approved and have a nice stay in US

Except for the passports no other document was asked.Be confident and dont go by rumour mills.

Thanks to this forum members who has earlier posted their experiences and good luck for the aspirants.
