My L1 VISA is approved
First of all I would like to thank each every one who posted their experiences in this amazing forum.

I had my VISA interview on 30th Aug @ 10:15 AM in Chennai consulate.

Once all the security check are finished, the indian officer had collected my documents. he took only one copy of 129 & 797 forms and G-28 of mine and my wife's.

then I proceed to counter 12 where we had to give our finger prints.

Next, we need to go to anohter building and there in the first counter, another indian officer would collect your DD.

The I wass waiting for my turn. My turn came after almost after 15 minutes.

The VO was young and so cool guy. We had wish him Good morning and he also replied saying VGM.
Here are the questions I was asked
1) Where are you working ?
2) How long you been in this company?
3) Where are you going in US?
4) for how long ?
5) What is your designation ?
6) What is your Role in US?
I did not bring any well known languages into the discussion like Java,.net etc. If you are a developer, you can talk about the development life cycle. Intaction with Business client to get requirements and intaction with other interfacing teams etc.
When I was explaining this, he was comparing with the BEP document description.
7) What is your specialization ?
I did not bring any well known languages into the discussion like Java,.net etc. Keep talking about your indepth knowledge in my application and domain knowledge.
8) What is your application do ?
9) What is your salary in US ?
10)How long are you married (to my wife) ?

At the end he had shown one paper and asking did you see this leeter before ?
I blindly said yes. what I thought was it is a rejection reason letter.
After that the Golden words came from him saying "YOUR VISAS ARE APPROVED AND YOU WILL GET THEM IN ANOTHER 1 WEEK". I had no words to say. Simply said Thanks alot and walked on my way.

Later I realized that the letter he had shwon was labour rights sheet.

Suggestions :
1) Please be little louder.
2) Keep eye to eye contact
3) BEP document description.

once again Thank you All !!!

L1B, L2 Approved after administrative processing in 1 week
First of all thanks everyone for posting their experiences.
Either I was lucky or my whole day was really bad.

My interview was scheduled at 0815.

An Indian lady checked my documentation and found that my DS-160 was not correct. There were incorrect information. She asked me to correct these information and said that she is opening my submitted DS-160 for editing. She also mentioned that if the existing DS-160 does not open up, I should fill a new DS-160 and submit it. She asked me to come back by 1135 or 0730 next day.

To make the situation worse consulate site was down. Luckily it opened for some time and I was able to refill the new DS-160 (instead of editing existing DS-160 I opted to fill a new one as there were lot of mistakes in the older form). I was able to reach consulated by 1135. Chennai's heat made the whole process more worse.

Finally appeared for my interview at around 1300. VO asked the same question as he would ask for specialized position.

He did approve VISA for my wife, but asked me to go for administrative processing. However I did ask if my VISA is approved. He said, 'YES'.

Indian lady at administrative window asked me questions about my siblings, took a record of my height and said although VISA is approved, but she can not process it right now. It will take around 4 ~ 6 weeks.

I was prepared to wait for 4 to 6 weeks, but luckily I recieved my approved VISA (and my wife's VISA) in 1 week only.

L1 Blanket and L2 approved
Hi All,

By the grace of god and with good preparation my L1 blanket and L2 visa got approved - Thanks to immihelp - All the questions mentioned in this site are really good and very important and get well prepared for all the questions, you never know what questions and in which format they will ask.

The questions asked to me were

1. Which company are you working for?
2. What is your Salary in India?
3. What is your salary in US?
4. What is your Specialization? (Very Important-Get prepared on Domain and showcase on your Subject matter expertise if any)

For the question 4 i got bit nervous but the VO was very sweet and tried helping to take out my nervousness.

For my wife only one question - how long you been married - Thats it.

'Finally your Visa has been approved' - golden words came from him

All the best

Thanks

I have few experence to share with this forum.

Tips for the Visa applicants.

Just go through this site and prepare for some 30 common questions.

Dont refer this site more since it can spoil your confidence.

The interviewer knows whether you came prepared or not since they are doing lot of interviews.

Dont byheart the answers if you are fluent in english.

The approval mainly is based on some criterias they have..

Experence, Salary, your confidence and some times the political situation in US.
Some months the rule will be to reduce the approvals and so on.

I didnt go with tie and suits, but I had confidence that I will get and I am prepared.

Me : I just went forward and greeted her.
VO: She told your turn is next ;)
Me : Again went back and waited for my turn.
VO : Interview started, asked my exp, why you are going and expertise.

Me : Answered in simple sentenses.
asked her to repeat the questions if not clear.
You should ask to repeat if not clear because the height of mic and speaker volume differs..

Finally not the magical words ie Approved!
I was happy but I am now in Germany !! Yet to visit US..

Guys dont get panic with these experence sharing. Just moke 3 times, go cool and attend you will get if you are prepared well.

L1A blanket and L2 got approved @ Chennai
God Bless the guy who initiated this forum. My L1A blanket and L2 got approved at Chennai consulate on 24 Aug'12. All the questions were fsame as what has been mentioned in this forum but i would like to clear some smoke screens. L1A visa is of 2 types- One for Managerial( you need to manager managers to clear in this category) and other less talked about is Executive( Functional Manager- Goolge functional manager and understand this visa type, but in nutshell you do not need to manage anybody for this visa). Mine was L1A in executive capacity as a functional manager. Below was experience at consulate:
Me and my wife Greeted VO but no response so i could make it it has started on a rather serious note. The Q&A round started:
Q: What will you be doing in US?
A: I will be in US on a functional manager role in executive capacity managing ( 4 more words- I already used the magic word functional manager as attorney had told me).
Q: What are responsibilities of a functional manager?
A: blah blah( had prepared to say 5 but could only spit out 2 and that too in broken words- was nervous)
Q: How many reportees in US?
A: I will be working as functional manager so no reportees( before i could say last 3 words VO asked the next question)
Q: Whom will you report to?
A: Mr xx, Desig xx, Department xx(for executive L1A it better be a high officer of the company)

To my surprise interview took a turn here and VO started asking questions to my wife . It looked like more of my wife's interview from here rather than concentrating on me
Where did you get married?
Which place did you get married?
When did you get married?
Do you have kids? We donot have kids yet
How many times you been to US? My wife had been to US thrice. This question looked like her previous visits to US accompanying me were helpful
When did you last visit US?
Why did you go to US? My Wife said that she was accompanying me and had gone for tourism purpose
Can i see your marriage album? Thing to note here is that Visa expert at my company has told me to take some of my marriage pics as i did not have my marriage album ( it was in my home town) but had soft copy of the pics. I got them printed and had put them in a decent album .When i opened the album and started flipping VO asked keep going and he looked into 4or 5 pages of album telling me to keep going again in between. This tells me that it was not enough if i had brought only some pics for interview. I think the emphasis here was that my wife did not had me as her spouse in her passport and we looked like a young couple without kids so VO wanted to make sure that we were married.
Interview ended here and VO said we will get our passport by courier.
Wished VO a good day (for bringing alive our American dream).
Points to note:
If the visa docs are provided by a attorney, better stick to what they have written. Very very important. Do not ignore this.
Go through this forum for list of questions and write all possible answers you would give.
I wore suit as mentioned in this forum by one of the guys but not sure if that helped but i would recommend doing the same for L1A.
Ask your spouse to be ready with answers. She should be attentive.
