L1 -- Time spent with the company
Hi,

I have 1 year left in my 6 year h1b quota and moved back last year to India from the US. Now my current company wants to apply L1 visa or H1b and move me back to the US. My company's reputation is good and stuff, it is a big MNC company with a lot of employees. so that is not an issue. It will be a L1B blanket. But my lawyer told me that the chances of getting my visa stamped is zero since i have been with the company only for 14 months. She said the minimum time that one has to be with the company is 18 months. Is that true? Can anyone throw light on it?

L1B Blanket Approved - Chennai
Hi All,

My interview was conducted at Chennai Consulate on 25th Sept. Please be relaxed as what I observed was that majority of cases were getting approved for all Visas on that day. To some standing in front of me in queue, I observed that hardly any questions were asked and visa granted. I was asked following questions:

VO - So you work with XYX
Me - Yes
VO - So you going to ABC location in US
Me - Yes
VO - What's your salary in US?
Me - My US salary will going to be .....
VO - So what will be your role in US
Me - Explained my role and responsibilities
VO - Asked question related to my specialized skills and what exactly my organization doing the same in it differently
Me - I explained in length and was in motion to explain when:
VO (laughing) - Relax, relax.. you've convinced me enough for visa submission. And we all laughed then

I observed that all Visa officers were looking very social, smiling and ready to listen & laugh with you to make it very light and smooth process. So be relaxed, be composed, smile and give your answers in peace. It will definitely work out. Best of Luck !!!

US L1-B Visa Approved
Thanks a lot to this forum. God bless the guy whoever started this forum and all of them whoever sharing their valuable experiences.

First and foremost thing:
If you already hold any Business Visa, and already visited US before on B1 and your stay was for close to 3 months. ............in that case......if they ask you about why did you go on B1 , don't say that you went for training.
Becoz, they consider training can not be spanned for 3 months and they understand that you went for working previously on B1 , so they might reject/cancel your B1 as well, along with the L1.
This happened yesterday with one of my colleague.
So be careful, and answer in such a way that you went for requirement gatherings and to take part in the product meetings and proposals etc....

Coming to my case today:
Suggestions from my experience:
Don't go to the interview with Cell phones or back packs, or any sort of bags. They wont allow any of them and they dont provide any space to keep them. So only go with the documents required.

Go to the consulate at least 1 and half to 2 hours before. Because there is no proper management outside by the security personnel. Our educated great Indian guys likes to not to follow the queue. Its quite disgusting to see such cheap behavior.

Once you enter inside, things will move quickly. Dont get panic. Dont be in a hurry to get your turn for the interview and come out. Stay calm and cool. you will get directions from the guiding staff at each point.

Get all your documents lined up properly. Arrange them in such a way that you can pick out the required one easily.

You have to show the interview appoint confirmation at the entrance.
Make sure you smile at and wish the officers inside.

questions i have got from the officer:
which company you work for.
how long you have been with the company
what is your salary in india per annum.
what are you going to do in US.

Answer the questions quickly and crisply. Show confidence......and make sure you listen very carefully to them, they will be asking questions quickly because of the fact that they have lots of candidates waiting.

best of luck.

Dont forget to post your experience,

Thanks to this forum.
Questions asked
1 who is the client?
A ZZZ
2 what is your indian salary?
3 what is your US salary?
4 why are you going to us?
I started answering and after 5 lines he said "hold on hold on I am appoving your visa"
good relief.

In my case I was the last person at the consulate to be interviewed.
My two cents:
In chennai go to consulate two hours befor your appointment. there is lot of checking. and it is very much missmamnaged. Please keep watch on what you have to do like submit dd,finger printing the guys there just says we will call you. there was no token system atleast on that day. They sent me for interview without taking my fingerprint scan. at last the visa officer said " I cannot stamp your visa as you have not been tenprinted" then I went to another counter and then visa was done

L1B
Folks,

First Thanks to the guy who has hosted such a lovely forum, Kudos Dude.

My interview was scheduled on 24th September at 10:00AM in the morning. Mine was actually on 17-sept but has to be postponed due to the some reasons hence scheduled today.

Since most of the information is already available in this site i would like to share my observations.

1) L1B is only for specialized knowledge so prepare your petition letters in such a way that it reflects the PROPRIETARY PART in each and every part of your duties which you are going to do.

2) When the officer asks about your expertise as well stress on the PROPRIETARY knowledge only.

3) Your overall experience with the company also matters here as he has asked me the same question 2 times. The rest were normal questions on my salary at US and INDIA

4) Your companies reputation also plays a major role as i have seen one of the B1 guy getting rejected as soon as he say his company name.

5) Not but not the least get blessings of your parents and the almighty they are are much more needed :)

Godspeeed ! ! !

US Consulate PA interview on 20 SEP rescheduled
Hi,
I had an interview @ consulate last thursday - 20th SEP but got cancelled.

I got a mail from the VFS site on Sunday -23 SEP afternoon that we have to reschedule the next appointment by ourselves @ http://www.ustraveldocs.com/in/

And also starting mid of this week the usual interview has been split to two. The biometric and other stuff been done at the OFC(offsite facilitation center) and the interview with the VO @ consulate seperately on different days.

So we need to fix up both the appointments.

good luck to all...
