Q How long with the current company?
Q Team Size in US?
Q Team Size on Offshore?
Q Sice I said the team size is projected to increase to 10 people in 6 months and to 15 in another 6 months, next question was, How many in 6 months?
Q What will your team do there
Q Address in mumbai, single and some basic questions

Hi Guys,

Need your help. I've L1-B visa scheduled on 6th Jul at 10.30 AM. I'll be taking my wife and 5 month old daughter for the interview. Is there any priority given for candidate with babies? I need to book my return flight, so I'm wondering how much time would it take, in general?

 I had been to US consulate in Tokyo for L1 filing.

Here were the questions :
1.Me : Good Afternoon
Him : Indeed good afternoon.
2. Him : First take this payment receipt. This is yours. I can see you spent a hell lot of money today.
Me : Thank you, I will be offloading the bill to my company.
3. Him : What specialized skill do you have?
Me : I am an implementation expert in so and so ...
4. Him : Where will you be going in the US.
Me : So and so place
5. Him : Is this company a Head hunter?
Me : No, We are implementation experts. We take projects and execute to the clients needs.
6. : How many years have you been in Japan?
Me : 4 years
7. : Are you married? Have kids
Me : Married and have a kid. Both are back in India and the kid is born a month back.
8. : Will they be joining you?
Me : Yes , but probably at a later stage.No detailed plans made yet.
9. : Thank you for waiting. Your visa is approved. It will arrive to your adderss in a weeks time

VO (Visa Officer): What company are you working for?
Me: XYZ

VO: What is your Designation?
Me: Manager

VO: How long you have been working with this client?
Me: X years Y month

VO: For which client you are going to work in US?
Me: Client Name Provided

VO: How long you have been working with this client?
Me: From past 2 months i was assiting the client on need basis and now the client wants me there for full time.

VO: What will be you doing there?
Me: My role is divided into 4 parts: Delivery Management, Process Transition, Quality / Process Improvments and People Management. I will be the SPOC for the customer and will be managing the team, which includes coaching / mentoring them, recomanding for their promotions and before I could finish he has asked me the next question.

VO: How many people will report into you?
Me: 10

VO: Did you hire them?
Me: I was involved in the hiring process. I had sent my requirements based on project and client expectations to HR and they inturn went to the market and shared me the profiles.

VO: Do you have the authority to fire?
Me: I would look into the reasons if it is related to performance / behaviour and will send out my report to HR for further processing

VO: Your Visa is approved and have a nice stay in US

No Questions asked to my wife

in the form VO marked a seal "not clearly approvable" for the L1B. whst does this mean.Please reply

I had my interview on 27th June (unlucky day for me) at 8:45 AM. I reached there by 8:00 and thought i am very early but when i entered inside there was many people waiting for their turn. Finally i was called at around 11:15 for the interview.

In kolkata there are three windows (5, 6 and 7) 1 is reserved for handicap (7). I was interviewed by an Indian officer who was not looking very professional and think he was working adhoc on that day due to short staff (i guess). He was very slow the other officer (counter 6) was clearing three applicants in same time when my officer (counter 5) was handling one.

Following was the discussion with him:-

Me and Wife: Good morning Sir, How are you doing today?
VO: Replied back but in very low volume, coudlnt hear him...
VO: Asked to comepete the fingerprints formilities..
Me and Wife: Done..
VO: Are you aware the Visa type you have applied is for highly specialized person?
Me: Yes sir.
VO: How long you are working with ZZZ?
Me: am working with YYYY for last 4 years and 3 months
VO: Have you traveled outside India before?
Me: Yes, I have been in UK and was working for our client YYYY YYYY X
VO: So, YYYY ZZZ is your client
Me: Yes.
Vo: So why are you specialized?
Me: Sir I am a specialized techno-functinal consultant in Oracle HRMS modules for past 4 years and three months in banking and financial sectors in YYYY Oracle Implementation Methodology(propriety tool)..... I tried to explain further but officer interrupted me and asked following question..
Vo: I am working in this window for last 10 years, It dosent mean that I am specialized
Me: Yes sir you are correct.. the knowledge I have is very unique.. I also have a knowledge of oracle imaging which is a very unique and new technology and we need both these in our project to integrate each other. Currently I am the only person having knowledge of this...... tried to explain further but again officer interrupted me and asked below question...
Vo: If you are the only person having knowledge why Dosent YYYY pay you 20 lacks.. after a pause he smiled..
Me: I was surprised by this question but said that YYYY pays as per the Grade policy. I tried to explain further to convenience the officer that I have previously traveled UK for the same client for the same project and will be developing the same module again for the same client in US....
Vo: Why are you very time saying that you have traveled UK before.. Okay tell me what did you do in UK....
Me: I started to explain him... but he was not even listening to me and was busy in searching some documents and typing in his PC... Finally he said that we are sorry but you can not travel the US at this time... Please read the documents(red paper given by officer) and check what are specialized knowledge..

NO questions were asked to my wife... and thats all.

I think i was unlucky and i should have got the visa. just befor few days back my fried went for the same visa with similar qualification and experience and he got the visa in just 60 seconds when interviewed by a professional officer(counter 6). I was very much confident during the interview process and was sure to get the visa even when the interviewer said we can not grant visa i though he is kidding.. i finally realized he has actually rejected when he gave me a red slip :-(

Then she types for long and said "Your visa is approved". You will get your passport in 3-5 days.

Question: How long you been with company?
Question: Have you been to US?
Question: What VISA?
Question: What you will be doing there?
Question: How many people will report to you?
Question: What will be your US Salary?

Then he took some time and said your VISA is approved and sent to you by Courier in 3-5 days.

The key I guess is confidence and well-preparedness for any kind of queries

And finally golden words were "Your visa is approved, have a nice trip"

No question to my wife.
