Hi All,

First of all, I would like to thank all the members who shared their experience in this forum. That helped me a lot in my preparation.

Here is my experience......

My Visa interview is scheduled @ 11.00am; however I went there by 10.00 am as i went with my roommate whose interview was scheduled @ 10.30am.

I was asked to wait for 10-15 mins, and then I was asked to stand in a queue, I don't know the time as I did not wear my watch for the interview. Then the security people checked my and I entered into the consulate. First myself and my documents were checked by the security people, and then I was asked to stand in a queue. I waited for my turn, when my turn came I went to the counter, they verified my documents and I was asked to give my finger prints. After that I was asked to go to another building counter no 14 to pay my DD. Once I am done with that, I was asked to wait in a hall. In front of me people were attending their interviews. I waited for my turn, after 2-3 mins, I was asked to stand in a queue to attend the interview. I had a look into the wall clock it was 10.45am, I was delighted that I am going to attend the interview before my schedule.

My turn came, I went to a guy. He said hi, I replied Hello Good Morning. I sided my documents to him, he took the documents and asked me
VO: Who is your client?
ME: <xxx>
VO: Why are you going to onsite?
ME: I explained the business case, when I finished 2-3 line, he interrupted me and said
VO: Alright, got it sir. You will get your passport in 2 working days
ME: I fell much excited, and said THANK YOU SIR.

GUYS here are My Suggestions.
Don’t be panic
It‘s just a formal chat between you and the VO
Be Confident, Speak bold.
Show off a good formal dress (mine light blue shirt and dark blue trousers)

What is your exp with ur firm?
What are you going to do in us?
What is ur specialized skill?
If your specialized skill is a proprietary cognizant tool, how can it be specialized?
Why do you have to work from onsite?

My visa got approved at chennai consulate today.Thanks to immihelp and all the people who have posted thier experience in this forum.
Below were the questions asked .
1.Since how long are you with the company XYZ
Close to 2 years
2.who is your client
ABC
3.How long with the client?
22 months
4.Why you are going to US?
Iam going to US to implement the tool PQR and integrate it with XYZ system.
5.Why only you were selected for this project?
Its because i have 6.5 years of experience in the technology involved in developing the tool PQR.I will be checking the actual configuration required to setup the tool PQR.Also there was a client interview and i was selected .
(Meanwhile he was typing something on the screen)
6.Whats ur CTC ?
Told the exact amount .

Then came the golden,diamond,platinum words
"Your Visa is approved"

Some golden rules to get your L1 visa approved.
1.Have good experience with current cleint
2.Else you should have good overall exp .
3.Be very confident ,they are very polite .
4.GO through Immihelp experience and prepare around 25 questions and appropriate answer
5.Do some mock round of interview .
6.Pray god and VISA is yours :)

Mine was a cool interview, was asked only 3 questions

Hw long have u ben working with your company?

What will you do in US?

What tools technology etc will you use in the proposed project?

thats it, he said that you will recieve the passport in a weeks time.

I have earlier posted my experience. I forget one imp thing so I wanted to let you guys know that there is a chilkur balaji temple popularly know as visa temple in hyderabad. please visit there before attending your visa interview. It will give you more confidence. You can google it about this temple. And as far as i know(3 ppl including myself) whoever has visited this temple got their visa approved.

I attend my interview recently at the Hyderabad Consulate and I'm sharing my experiences.

My interview time was 9AM, I was at the Consulate by 8.30AM and at 8.45AM I was asked to go near the gate of the Consulate.

After the security people checked my DS160 conformation page and the Interview conformation, I was allowed to join the BEP line.

I gave the documents that I have as per the L1B check-list provided by my company. They asked me to take back all the documents and they have given the original copy of the BEP letter and the HDFC receipts which I have submitted three days back.

After that I entered a room, where the Security people are scanning people before entering main Consulate. I was asked to remove Belt, Wallet, Keys and I was asked to walk-through the Scanning machine.

Tip: Please carry as much as gold/silver ornaments.

After the scanning, I entered the main building, where I have submitted the DD given by my company for the L1B. They gave me a conformation slip.

After this I went for Finger Prints Scanning.

After this I was asked to wait in the Sitting area and they called me as per the number they gave me. I went and stood in the Interview line.

Me: Hello, Good Morning.

VO: Hello, Good Morning.

She has seen my company tag, which I was wearing.

VO: How long you have been working for this company?

Me: XX years and XX months.

VO: Why are you going to US?

Me: Client wants me to at onsite for this current implementation, which is going live in December 2010.

VO: How is your Client?

Me: YYYY YYYY

VO: How long you have been working for this Client?

Me: XX months

VO: Where is the Client Location?

Me: YYYY X City, XX State.

VO: You will receive your Visa in a week’s time.

Me: Thank you, Have a nice day.

First of all very big thanks to the moderator.
This helped me like anything boss....gave enough confident...n this site has everything how to avoid basic mistakes etc etc... YOU ROCK :)
Here comes my Day ;)
My slot of VISA interview was at 8-15 AM.
Today morning I woke up at 5:49 AM exactly ;) , got ready and started to US Consulate office..Reached there by 8 AM (I was late going there)...there was no parking for vehicles near Consulate office, we need to park only at old airport and then start walking towards US consulate (which takes atleast 10mins)..
Very bad experience at parking my car in near apartments...reason one dash fellow came and asked me why the hell you are parking here blah blah...I asked him that I was going for interview and allow me to park and that will be big favour if he can do..he didn't listen at all. Here, ALL IS NOT WELL boss...then parked the vehicle beside road near to US consulate...after coming out from VISA int., Traffic police was almost trying to take my car into the open lorry kinda vehicle..ALL IS NOT WELL here also..Paid 200 Rs\- fine :)

Well here is my experience..

Entered the consulate..Finished the formalities..fingerprints..
waited for almost 1½ hour for my turn...I was questioning&answering myself abt the common questions..in between also thought what if my VISA goes to Admin. process ..from there I woke-up n kept cool n confident...then my turn came..

The guy before me answering like anything..I just heard that he was telling Thank you and Have a nice day...from that I concluded that he got approved...n confirmed as he is going outside happily..then in mind BIGGGGggggg doubt that if one is approved, VO will not be interested in approving other ppl atleast 3-4 ppl....ALL IS NOT WELL AGAIN...
I went to him n submitted the doc's saying Good Morning (I should have added Sir also)
then after a small pause..he started asking..

1) How many years of exp. in current company
I have been working in xxx for 5 Year 5 months
2) What are you going to do there (at client) ?
I am going to implement my company’s proprietary tool at client’s place.
3) What are those please (tools n specialization) ?
Tool-X, Tool-Y, etc… (here just mention about the tool names unless he asks specifically about particular tool information).
4) What exactly Tool-Y is sir.. is it a software or hardware?
Well, it is just a YYYY ……
5) So, it is Software?
No, It is not software…
6) Then..(question mark face) ?
here it is a tool/protocol used for…it is effective n mostly used used in %%% b/n large systems..blah blah..
(here he is trying to stress it is a SW/HW…never say it is a software/hardware ..it’s a risk, just try to tell him that you are using proprietary tool)
7) How many years of experience you have in these tools n proto.. ?
5 years

8) Who is your client
XYZ

9) What does it do?

Finally golden word APPROVED :)
ALL IS WELL :) ;)

I would like to share few common key points :

1) Be Confident
2) COOL
3) Maintain Eye contact
4) Don’t be in hurry/fast…Speak slow n clear so that interviewer can understand
5) Also don’t forget that L1 is especially for specialized knowledge/skilled people..try to project yourself that you are the specialized person than others…in my case interviewer was trying to ask is that SW or HW…never say SW directly…even it is SW, try to include some CMC proprietary tool, or any specialized skill, used in development of current project…
Never ever tell that u r expert in C,C++, JAVA etc known SW's...

The only word that helped me was NEVER GIVE-UP.
This visa is for you only.....don'panic boss you didn't take his money..nor he is enemy of you...just a formal discussion...
He should be in a situation..Kaiku sataaaraa re thu itna merekkooo...
