Doubt regarding L2 VISA
hi Immihelp,
I have my VISA stamping on Sep 2nd in chennai. My husband have already gone to US and I am going to VISA interview alone. I don't have my husband's name in my passport. Will my VISA will get rejected because of this reason.
I have all other relevant documents Marriage certificate, album.
I am worried about this. It would be helpful if I can find an answer soon.

L1 A Visa ' Not Clearly Approvable' - Reapplying on L1B

I recently appeared for L1A visa (blanket petition) at Delhi Consulate. I already have travelled to the US on B1 Visa and currently hold a valid B1 Visa. I was asked the following questions:
Q1: What do you at 'xxx' (my company's name)?
Q2: What is your designation?
Q3: How long have you been with 'xxx' (my company's name)?
Q4: How long have you working in managerial role?
Q5: How many people report into you?
Q6: Will you be performing same duties in the US?
Q7: Will you have people reporting into you?
Q8: but you will be hiring or firing individuals? you will not be measuring individual's performances?
I have been working with my org. for over 7 years and have travelled in various countries in the past. This was my frist L1 Visa application. My designation is of a manager and I work with over 50+ clients for my domain. My role in the US was to manage a function in our company.
From what I understood of my conversation with the consul - since I do not and will not have people reporting into me or have direct monitoring of individual performances, I do not fit in the "manager" category for the L1A Petition
Towards the end of the interview consul said that your company should apply your visa in different category. I couldnt ask the consul which category specifically.
My company is now evaluating the option of re-applying the Visa through Blanket L1 B for me.
Can anyone guide me the possible interpretation of "another category" ?
Secondly, we have time constraints for the project for which I was travelling. Hence, Individual Petition will take a great deal of time. If my Visa is applied under L1B category what are chances of it getting rejected? considering the fact that my company feels that L1A is the right category for my Visa application.

VO : Good Morning....doing good.
I submitted my folder to the VO Officer.
VO : who is your current employeer.
VO : To which client are you working
VO : How long have you been working in this project.
VO : what are you going to do in US.
VO : How is this application useful to end user.
Later VO Officer is looking in to her machine and finally said " Your visa is approved, you will get visa through courier with in 2-3 working days".
I have seen lot of rejections at the counters in front of me. Dont be Panic by watching those, Eye contact is Must, tell your answers slowly and clearly in short descriptions.

I am not going to put my whole experience from the time, i stood in queue at the Embassy, as lot of others have already put it and that's my experience too.
Questions asked to me were also from what, the other experiences say.

Tips:
Some people tried speaking to VO in American slang and the VOs seem to have got intimidated with it. They got rejected. It might be a one-off scenario, but i would suggest to use your natural english slang rather than using something which is not natural to you.
Be confident and give crisp and to-the-point answers. Use 'I' and don't use 'We' anywhr in your answers.

L2 VISA Query
I have L1 B Blanket Visa and my wife is currently serving her notice period (2 months) after her resignation from service. Could anyone please let me know if she can appear in L2 VISA stamping interview with her resignation letter i.e. without releaving letter?

My visa got approved on 17th august... below are the questions asked by Visa Officer.
1. How long you have been with the current organization?
2. What is your specialization skill?
3.What you will do in US?
4. What is your previous organization?
5. How much experience you had with previous organization?
6. Where is your husband?
7. Where he is working?
8. How old is your Kid?
finally she says "Your petition approved and will receive your passport within one week :)"

L1B for me and L2 for my wife and kid got approved
I had the visa interview on 20th Aug, in chennai consulate. Since I heard there are comparatively more rejections in chennai consultate I had slight fear that mine L1B may also get rejected. I have gone to consulate with my wife and kid (who is 1 year 10 months old). After all the usual process, I was made to wait for visa interview. As I was with Kid. we are directly taken to visa counter. The VO is a young male guy. He got my documents and had a review, and told me to show my left middle pinger in the scanner. After I did so he started asking his questions.
Q1. What is your work at USA.
Ans: I am part of Architecture team and will be doing Architecture design and System design.
Q2: What are the Architecture you have designed or worked with.
Ans: Te Architectures are SOA based custom architectures.
Q3: Experience with Current company
Ans: 5 years 2 months
Q4: Experience with current Client
3 years
My kid was crying and the VO turned to her and said 'Pappa Cry pannathe'. Then asked me how old is she. I told she is about 2 years old.
Then he was writing something on my papers and told your visa is approved you will get it in one week :). He asked my wife to go to other counter and have her 10 pingers scanning.

we went there on 19th evening and took the interview on 20th. we reached there by 8.10 am while our time is 8.45 am. we finished the formalities and proceeded for interview.
The following question were asked.
1. so you are working in yyy company.
How many people work for yyy?
how long have been working in yyy?
Tell me about the business of yyy?
what will you do in US
the VO was reading on the screen for one minute and authorized our visa.
He has not asked any question to my wife and not even seen my daughter.

L1b rejected once. second interview Sep 8
Hi,
I would like to thank everyone for posting their experiences in immihelp. This is very useful for us to clear our doubts.
I had L1b interview last february and at that time it was rejected. that time had only 1.5 years experience. Now have completed 3 years and am appearing second time. Lots of people from my company YYYY are getting their l1b rejected. One of my team mates who had earlier rejection just like me attended in august and was asked " already your l1b has been rejected why have you applied second time?"
i guess he was unable to answer convincingly and he got a second rejection. Did any one have a similar experience and then got visa second time.
Any suggestions for answer for this question.
Also am still confusede about specialized knowledge. What sgoukd be mentioned as specialized knowledge and what should not be mentioned. People i would be very greatful for your help if you could share similar experiences. Pls mail me.
