L1B and L2 approved
I and my wife were in Sep 20, 12 noon batch and the entire process went very smooth and quick (only 25 minutes from entry to Chennai US consulate to exit time). There was no rush at all, which was different for me when I went for my B1 three years back. After normal checking, VO gentleman asked the below queries.

To me:
- How long u r working for this company?
- What u'll be doing in US?

To my wife:
- When did u get married?
- Is he a good husband or bad guy?
- Is he forcing you to come to US or you are going by your wish?

Thats it. Visas got approved. Thanks to all previous posts in this forum. (Tip: please go in formals and wear a broad smile with confidence).

L1B Blanket Renewal - Chennai (Approved)
Mine was a early Monday morning (7:45 AM )Appt. I was a bit nervous hearing that the rejection rates have gone up recently and specifically in Chennai. But when I walked in, it anything I heard before didn't make sense at all..

VO : Who is your Client?
Me : XYZ
VO : Were you working with XYZ before on L1B (blanket)?
Me : Yes
VO : OK you will recieve your passport in a week's time.

I had practised my answers for all the possible questions, but may be due to god's grace, VO didn't ask any questions at all.
Thank you all the users who post their experiences here, it was a good learning experience.
My 2 cents would be; Dont be afraid, coz that is when you tend to panic and since a VO has only 2-3 minutes to valuate your case, all your anxious reactions will go against you as he would treat them as suspicious cases (where the applicant is trying to hide something).

So be confident and honest with your answers, make sure you go through your petition and PRD and prepare your answers based on them.

Wish you all the very best!!
Thanks

L1 B Visa approved (Gods Grace)
Hi All,

Full marks to this site (Kudos), the best way one can build confidence is by going through others experience and prepare. I did exactly this and I am very glad to share my experience.

My interview was at 8:30 on 20-Sep. I was there at 8:15 as I knew going early would end up waiting outside the gate. I was waiting outside for 5 min and one guy called out 8:30 batch and I went in side. Processing steps are very simply, you just go in and there will be people to help you. Finally I was waiting for my turn. I had heard a lot about the fat lady who usually rejects a lot of visa’s (This is true as I personally saw her doing this) and I was in that queue. My heart was trembling. There were just 2 people in front of me. The coordinator in that room who usually guides people towards counters came to me and asked to move to another counter (Luck played a role). There was this gentleman, who rejected both of them in front of me. I went there and wished him. He asked me 4 questions.
1) How long you be working with this organization
2) What you will do in US
3) Why you
4) Current Salary

With in 2 min my interview was complete and got to hear the Golden words (As described by others in this site) "Your visa is approved and will receive in a week’s time”. Man I was about shout out of joy, But control my self.

Few things I observed there:

- Please dress in a formal (I also wore a Tie). This will give you a very professional look and may pay off.

- Why you? For this question please don't give one line answers. Because the person who was in front of me just answered “I am senior in my team" that’s it. This will not help in building a good impression at all. Please be precise and answer in 2-3 sentence. This is a very important question as they may be looking for any specialized skill here.

- Speak loud, that why you message is conveyed very clearly.

It’s not that hard to crack this interview, prepare and just go I am sure you will feel the same way how I felt today. All the best to all of you guys who have their PA interviews.

Thanks
Vinay

L1B Approved - Chennai Sep 17th 2010
Hi All,

Thanks a lot for sharing your experiences in this FORUM. My experience is as below.

1.There was too much of crowd
2.Too many rejections happening (Please do not get intimidated by this, this is just a fact) I could observe couple of rejections before my turn came.
3. Conversation with VO

ME: Hi, Good Morning (with a hint of a smile on my face)
VO: Hi, Good Morning (She checked something on the computer)
VO: How long U have been with this firm?
ME: 22 Months
VO: Your previous company?
ME: XYZ
VO: Experience with previous company?
ME: 2 Years 3 Months
VO: What is your Salary?
ME: Rs XYZ per annum
VO: Who is your client?
Me: XYZ
VO: Why are you going to US?
ME: (I was waiting for this Question) To customize XYZ Process in XYZ's (Client name) application, which will reduce the manual intervention)
VO: Ok !! Why are you going to work from ONSITE?
ME: As I completely automated the XYZ Process in the previous company...(VO interrupted me)
VO: That does'nt answer my Qn.. Why You need to work from onsite?
ME: I need to work very closely with XYZ (client's name) developers, so I should travel US
VO: Why are you selected?
ME: I completely automated the XYZ process in my previous project using technologies X, Y & Z. Currently there is a similar requirement to automate the same process.
VO: (Typed something on her computer & wrote something on my papers & said finally) Your Visa is approved... You will get your Passport with in 1 week
ME: Thank You, Have a good day
VO: You too, bye.. Next applicant Please !!!!

Tips:

1. Please try to keep your answers are precise as possible. Do not beat around the bush
2. Collect all possible questions prior to the Interview date & prepare crisp answers
3. Do not put difficult words in your answers, which you might forget.
4. Revise your answers everyday & ask your friends\family\colleague to rapidfire the Qns you prepared ( This will really help to get a feel of the interview)
5. Be sincere & confident while answering.

WISH YOU ALL GOOD LUCK !!!

By God's grace my L1B visa got approved today. I want to thank all the people who posted their experiences on this site. They helped me a lot and hence I consider it my moral duty to post my experience as well which might just help someone.

My appointment was at 9:00 AM. I reached quite early..i.e. at 7:15 AM. We were let in by around 8:20 AM. After the documents verification and security scan, I was directed to a counter for payment (DD). Post which, I went for finger scanning. After that, I was given a token number and asked to wait for my turn for interview.

There was a queue in front of every counter and the process till here took about 50 mins. Finally, my number was called and I proceeded towards my counter. There was a young lady VO at the counter. We greeted each other following which she asked the below simple questions:

VO: How long have you been with ZZZ? (my organization)
Me: 4 years
VO: Who is your client?
Me: YYY
VO: What are you you going to do in the US?
Me: I am going to implement my company's framework onto the client application using my company specific tools.
VO: What is your project about?
Me: ....Gave a brief description about my project in about 2 lines.
VO: Ok..where are you going to work in the US?
Me: New York
VO: Okay...Im approving your visa, you'll receive your passport in a week's time by courier.
Me: Thank you Mam!
VO: Have a nice day!

I would like to mention here that this was my first experience at a Consulate office and I must say the entire staff there is very cordial. There was not even a single moment when I felt uncomfortable with the process, including the VO. They are not there to rejecting our visa without reason. Nervousness and tension is going to be there by default, but it is your ability to ooze confidence (please note that there is a thin line between confidence and over-confidence) and your alertness thats going to help you. Be precise in your answers, avoiding additional details unless asked for.

Going a little back in the process, be extra careful while filling in your DS-160 form and ensure that data in the form and that in your support letter and petition matches.

I wish all the luck to people out there facing the pre-stamping blues. Go ahead with confidence, prepare yourself well, pray to Supreme Power above and the visa would be yours!

Thanks again!! And God Bless!

L1B got approved on 15-Sep at Kolkata
First of all, my sincere thanks to this site!!

This site is really very helpful.

My VISA got approved on 15-Sep at Kolkata consulate. All the questions asked by VO were among the FAQs posted in this site. So I'm not mentioning them again.
Prepare a list of around 30-35 FAQs posted in this site & get prepared well.

Rather I would like to mention few points from my PA experience(I think this one as a moral responsibility of mine as I got extreme help from this site) which may be helpful to people who are going to appear their PA.

1. Try to reach the consulate at least 30mins before the scheduled time.

2. Be calm & composed before interview.

3. Don't get worried with what is happening with other people.

4. Be confident during interview.

5. Maintain eye contact. Even if the VO is not looking at u try to answer facing him/her directly.

5. Listen carefully & then answer. If couldn't understand/hear the VO clearly, ask again politely.

5. Answer to the point. Add elaboration if needed, but that should be concise too. Would be better if u can put some real world examples in ur elaboration.

6. Represent ur specialized knowledge as a really specialized one without which the project, u will be joining at onsite, can't be completed.

7. Expect to be crossed while telling ur specialization or why 'U' not anyone else or why u can't do it from offshore. SO get well prepared to back ur answers to these questions with reasonable & strong logical reason.

8. Take it easy. If U can handle so much of challenges everyday at your job, then why not this one!!
Just think, if U are the VO and U want to approve only the mostly needed ones then what kind of answers would drive U to do the same.
Get prepared keeping this in mind and it's done.

Finally, I would like to thank this site once more for the valuable questions & experiences it shares with us.
