I attended my L1b visa interview on 15th July 2010.
Thank you so much all for your valuable inputs.
The questions are,
1.Why you are going to U.S?
2.How many years of experience with company,client and testing.
3.What is your client all about?
4.can you explain your project more?
5.is this your first job?
Tips for interview;
Dont be tensed.
Think that you only know about the things and nobody knows.
Be confident.
While answering keep eye to eye contact

Hi all,
My hubby and me got our visa approved today @ chennai. Our schedule was at 9:15 A.M.
We were waiting outside the embassy building in the road till 9 o clk. After thorough check-ups (2 times) we were allowed inside. Initially we went to some counters and given finger prints. Finally we were directed to go to the other building to meet the VO. we went to the panel of a Lady VO officer. Luck really plays a major role here. The lady in our panel was very kind to everyone, while all the other VO's were very strict. These are the questions asked.
Questions to my hubby:
Who s ur client ?
Explain ur role there?
What will u be doing there?
Wat is ur experience as a pjt mngr ?
To Me :
When did u get married ?
Thats all.. she did some paper work, and said "Ur visa s approved and u will get ur passport in a weeks time". We replied "thanks n have a nice day".
Be cool and speak gently to the VO. don't shout. Have a pleasing look. All the best to everyone.

L1 -- B Got Approved at Delhi Consulate
Hello Everyone ..... now this its my turn to share my exp..
First of all many thanks to the team managing this website. It is really really very helpful.
PA Time :8:30 AM
Submitted mobile phone before entering into the queue.
At the entry point they checked appointment letter.
Then security check(Pls do not carry any electronic items with u)
one guy rearranged all the documents and gave a token number.
Then I was asked to go to next building.
Appeared at one counter and lady asked me all the documents and my designation.
Then she asked me to go to Cash counter to submitt the Draft
Then they asked me to go to the next counter where they were taking Finger Prints
After that I had to wait for aprox 30 mins and then finally apeared for Interview.
Questions -
what is the purpose of trip --
what is your designation --
what are your specialized skills --
told XSLT, Shell Scripting and UNIX
She said Unix is very common language. Then I explained that the combination of these all skills with Domain knowledge is very rare.
Then she checked something ( i think she checked in google)
Then she said these technologies can be accessed be anyone ....
Then again I explained that they are avialable for everyone but to have the experties you need to go trough the regrous trainings and hand on exp which is very rare.
Finally she said OK
Then FINALLY she said Sir you will get your passport in 4 working days.
She gave me 2 copies of Set of I129s and 797.
Checked the stamp and validity.
Pls check these two copies.There should be mentioned your Visa category and Validity period. These copies are mendatory while traveling .. so keep them with u .

Thank alot for immihelp and for the people who posted there experience in this site.
I have my visa interview schedule at 8:45 and i reached the place by 8AM and there is a huge rush and by 8:45 i entered and done with my security check and went to the second building and paid the DD in counter 12. and went to the place where the interviews are going on..
There is a lady in counter number 2 who is good to everyone in that counter. there is another fat lady may be is a tough one.
I went to the counter No: 1 he is a gentle Man, who is not that fair, he is tough and rejected many people in my queue. To my observation he is looking below things in a cadidate.
1. Are you dressed well (Even ladies try to be in formal) you appreance matter here.
2. Are from a reputed organization (this help only to some extent)
3. How much Exp you have with the present organization.
4. Your Experience with the current client.
The questions i was asked by VO.
VO: How many years you have with the present employer?
Me : 20 months sir

VO: How many time you are working for this client.

L1B visa with family
Thanks a lot guys.ur experiences supported us a lot.our experience is as follows.actually we have interview at 8.45am.we reached the consulate at 8.30am.we entered the main gate,&security guys checked our appointment letter & passports.Later we enteredinto security area,then they checked all of our belongings,even they asked my wife to sip the milk we brought for our baby,after that we entered into consulate area where document checking is going on.then a lady checked our documents and said ur babys date of birth in application form is wrong,so u go to vfs office and filled aform and u have to submit by11.30am.actually we know it was a small mistake and in my company they told me u only mention mistake at the time of checking,no need to worryabout that.here is completely worse case,the lady told date of birth is not a simple issue.so weleft consulateand went to vfs office which is opposite bulding.there we have taken a form,and i want to call my office,no mobile ,as nothing is allowed.iam very tensed at that time,this time i dont want to take chance to do any mistakes,i walked upto main road and called to my office to sent fax.all this has taken nearly one and half hour.by 10.45 i again enter the consulate,and submitted form,the lady said ,thank god its a bad quality paper,later she told to go for finger prints,verification and all.then we faced a lady at the time of interview as follows me:good morning mam lady;good morning,pls give me ur application me:given all documents. lady:what ur going to do in U.S.? me: go for data migration project. explained about the project. lady:what is your specialisation? me: explained about my skills, don't use any technical words which they won't understand. Mention you have undergone training on specific tools, industry etc. This point will more weight. lady: who is ur client? me: YYYY YYYY XX lady:ur travel duration for how many days? me:12 months lady:ok sir ur visa is approved.u can get the vise within one week. me:thank u mam.
My daugher said bye, lady with smily faced said bye.she didnt ask any questions to my wife.so we said thanks and happily left the place.

Now in the final stage only few simple Qs were asked.

Keep it simple when they ask you about your role and your specialized skill. Specialized skill is not jus the knowledge on some proprietary tools, or expertise on a particular s/w application. It would be safe to frame an answer which would suggest that the spl. skill that you have is something which you have mastered over the yours of your work ex and which is uniquely specific to your current project. Framing your answer in this way would increase the chances of vis being approved

Second time L1 interview - first rejected with 221(g) in 2008
Hi,
I had L1 (B) visa interview in aug 2008 and rejected under specialized knowledge reasons.
Now my company again filed for L1 (B) interview. Now Iam going for another time scheduled on 5 aug 2010.
can somebody guide me which all questions that i can expect since my first visa got rejected. and what are the chance to get this time. Is going for the interview on L1B again a good decision or should I ask my employer to file for new category?

I had my L1B visa interview on 20th july at mumbai. I was asked the following questions
1.Who is your employer and how long are you with that company?
2. Do you possess any other visa for US? If yes, for which client did you travel last time?
3. For which client are you travelling this time?
4. which city you will be travelling to?
5. How long you have been working for this client? she also noted down the project name.
6. What do you do for your client?
7. Are you going to work from client location or from Infosys office at USA?
8. Are you married? If yes, where is your husband in india or US?
After asking these questions she said please carry this document when you travel to USA and your passport would be couriered to the address mentioned.
