I have not yet received my son's OCI card and I am planning to take e visa for my son.
e visa is valid for 60 days only. If I receive OCI card later, can I sent it to India so that he can stay more than 60 days ? Any Idea, if this process works ????

OCI SFO Mission experience - 43 Days Start to End - No errors
CKGS is quick, Indian consulate have time frame in between they don't respond, at least 45 days time frame you can have in mind, if you have travel and want to take risk be prepared to take TVOA (Visa on arrival) only valid for 30 days, else apply for VISA at least two weeks before, tough to contact Indian Embassy, they got their fixed time lines.

My experience, if you need to travel apply before 60 Days if you want to play the wait game 45 Days before (My case 50 days, I played this wait game, lucky this time, though I am ready with VOA), less than 45 days is right risk for sure, 45 days in general they will take to process, I have read most of the posts down this website... New OCI Card - NY
Applied OCI for my Daughter on Oct 2nd, 2017. Received OCI Card on Nov 1st,2017. Process went smooth, No problems. Took 1 month exactly from mailing application to receiving my OCI card.
My recommendation is to follow every step in detail & fill it and send all required docs, photo.
I have to say, ckgs website is excellent and the information to redirect the India Gov site and back to ckgs is extremely good, just need minimum knowledge on websites, form filling..etc

eVisa in lieu of OCI

Already i have applied OCI card for my daughter on OCT 3rd and it is in process( received the US Passport on Oct 10th ).
as my parents travelling on Nov 27th, my wife and daughter also planning to go the same day along with them. Hopefully we will get OCI card before this date.
If we do not get OCI card by then, planning to apply e-Visa which is 2 months valid.
so they will travel with eVisa and then once i receive the OCI card, i will send to India in FedEx, so they can stay more than 2 months,
Will that be fine? or any issues?

OCI in lieu of PIO-Minor > 5 months
I applied for OCI in lieu of PIO for my 5 yr old daughter at ckgs washington DC. It is been 5 months from date of acknowledgement, status says still "Under process at embassy".
CKGS customer serivce in last 2months of enquiry is giving the same status and asking me to wait?
Should i go to indian embassy in DC directly to check what is happening. This wait time is more than what they stated processing time of max 80 days.
Anybody had similar experiences?

OCI Card
My name was split between first name and last name while getting first US Passport after naturalization , whereas my full name was as first name in my Indian Passport . I just submitted an Affidavit of this split of name (its not name change) with OCI Application to Chicago Center and mentioned that I will use nowonwards my name as splittd in first and last name as in US Passport and they do as per the Affidavit and issue OCI with first and last name . Thesedays total time in OCI processing from your door to your door is 40 days around .
