In Laws visa approved
I found this website useful to help me prepare a checklist of documents needed for B2 (Visitor's visa) for my wife's parents.
I am in the US on a H1 visa and my wife is on a H4.
I have also been reading some of the experiences on this website and decided to post my experience so that it helps others.

My In-laws went for their visa interview at the Chennai consulate and their visa was approved yesterday.

The VO asked the following questions:
1. How many children do you have?
2. Which company does your son-in-law work for
3. What work does your daughter do? (Trick question ;-) but my In-Laws answered that she is a housewife.)
4. Do you have a own house in India?

No documents were checked or asked for. The visa interview was in Tamil.

B2 Visa Granted at Delhi US Embassy
Hi, first of all thank you very much for all your comments and experiences shared. Today, I was granted the Visa at the Delhi consular section along with my two minor sons. After a long wait, (almost 2 and half hours)(rushed because of the vacation time in Delhi), we were asked to report at a window where there was a rather stern looking woman officer.

Me: Good morning
VO: Hi
VO: Where are you going
Me: Boston, MA
VO: Who stays there
Me: My sister
VO: Is she working
Me: She works for Xyz company as Xyz
VO: What do you do
Me: Am a housewife
VO: Have you travelled internationally before
Me: Yes, my husband and I have, the kids haven't
VO: But I do not see that in your passport
Me: It is on my old passport
VO: May I see that please
Me: Took out my old p/p and gave it to her
VO: But there is no US travel mentioned here
Me: No US travel maam, but international travel yes.
Returns me my old p/p
VO: Who is paying for your trip
Me: I am --It is self-sponsored
VO: How long would you be there
Me: 4 weeks
VO: Which place would you visit
Me: Boston, NY, DC
VO: Where does your husband work
Me: XYZ
VO: What does he do
Me: xyz
VO: Why isn't he travelling with you
Me: He has some urgent work commitments here
VO: Is your sister a US Citizen
Me: No, she is a green card holder
VO: Do you have any more relatives staying in the US
Me: Yeah, a cousin sister in Colorado
VO: Are you going to stay with her
Me: No, not with my cousin but with my own sister in Boston
VO: Were you employed before
Me: Yes, with an American MNC...xyz.
VO: Turns to my older son, and asks:
Which class are you in
My son: 7th
VO: Where are you travelling
My son: I am going to Boston, NY and Washington
VO: Where is your father
My son: He is waiting outside the Embassy
VO: WHat does he do
My son: He is xyz at xyz
VO: Why isn't he travelling with you
My son: He has some work commitments here
VO: Now turns to my younger son:" which class are you in"
My younger son: 3rd.
VO: Your passport will take 3-4 working days.
Me and the kids: Thank you, Maam.

there is no denying that i felt extremely tensed and jittery during the whole process, i kept praying inwardly. and since there was no hiding and we had presented nothing but the truth, we were granted the Visa. We are waiting to collect our stamped passports soon from the VFS office in Delhi. My best wishes to all genuine candidates out there who are applying for the US Visa. Best of luck! Cheers!

Parents visitor visa approved
Hi All,
This website has been immensly helpful to get visitor visa for my parents. I am a graduate student and my parents were sponsoring themselves. I was slightly worried about their case as they dont pay income tax but still had more than sufficient money in bank accounts and way too much property for tax exempt couple that earns less than 1.5 lakhs per annum. I guess the key was in answering confidently, practicing what to say and what not to say. I had to coach my parents to be concise and accurate. All the questions listed on this website were a good starting point. Heres how the interview went: It was a hindi interview. My mom spoke in english but dad answerd in Hindi.

VO: why are you going to usa?
Mom: to meet my daughter and to see tourist places in ny and chicago
VO: what does your daughter do
Mom: <name of course>, <university name>
VO: why are you going after her graduation
Mom: she was busy earlier
VO: what is your profession (to my dad)
Dad: i am a <profession> with <firm>, which is a <kind of business>
VO: what will your daughter do after graduation?
MOm: she will work in <firm name>, in <city name>
VO: your Visa is approved.

My Mom worried about sharing my full time employment information but you got to be honest in these interviews. So stay confident, smile and answer confidently!

No papers were asked. Also, don't over prepare your parents for these interviews. Let them explain things in their style. Just provide them with the facts that they need to know.
