My parents (70 & 58), had B2 visa interview in Hindi in Chennai. There was no weak point except that I'm the only son (& a sister in India) & am in the US for less than 1 year.
It was very smooth. They were asked,
1. Why & where do you want to go?
2. What do you do?
3. How much is your pension (to my F) & how much is your salary (to my M)?
4. How many children do you have
5. Is your son married, how many kids he has?
Congratulations, your visa is approved, your passport will come to you in a week.
That's it. My parents had gone through DS160 thoroughly & also through papers I had sent. So they were quite confident even when I had called them an hour before.

B2 visa interview on 22 nd July 2011.
Hi all of you,
My wife and me were scheduled interview on 22.07.2011 at 10.00.We reached there by 9.30 and had all the preliminaries done in 30 minutes.
We had not taken with us an additional set of Photos.So we had to take it from the conssulate itself.The photos should be 50 x 50 with white background.
After the fingerprints were taken we were directed for interview.
We were not nervous at all.Thanks to immihelp.com
which helped us a lot.We had selected Malayalam as language as it will help me to converse effectively and convince them.We wished her on seeing.
V.O : Why are you going to states?
Me : To visit my son and daughter in law.
V.O : Where are they?
Me : In N.J
V.O : What are ythey doing there?
Me : Told them of their job.
V.O : Who is sponsoring your trip?
Me : My children.
V.O : Are you sure you will return after three
months.
Me : I convinced her that I have workshop unit
and have to retun after three or four months
V.O : How much do u earn from this for whicch I
I answered one lakh or so.
V.O : What is ur daughter in law doing.
Me : She is studying for M.S and doing some
part time work.She is a U.S Citizen.
The Officer asked my wife what she is doing and she answered that she is House Wife
Our interview didn't last five minutes and she said our visa is sanctioned and collect the passports from the couriers within 7 days.

Parents Visa approved at Kolkata Consulate
Wanted to add that my husband was sponsoring the visa. we had prepared them to answer why daughter not sponsoring if both are working. I have applied for extension of H1-B and so my husband was sponsoring. I did send my I-797, just incase but like I said no documents and no sponsorship questions asked.

Today 22nd July at US embassy- Delhi, my parents, Tourist Visa- B2 got approved..really happy!!
A few twist n turns we had in mind... my father is a business man, they never visited any other country , so no other visa on their passport, interview in hindi, mine and my husbands visa( H4 & H1B) are not yet stamped on our passports..we r gng soon for same.... but we prepared thoroughly for documents and for interview and passed with flying colors!! Only 5 minutes 5 questions and visa was approved.
Questions were:
1. Whats your purpose of travel to US?
2. When your son-in law went to US?
3. When your daughter went to US and on which visa?
4. Is your son in law a software engineer?
Ans: No, actual designation told
5. Where do they live?
That's all and your visa is granted, you will receive passport in 5 days :D..all smiles!!

First of all thanks to this Site which helped me filling up my DS160 form and prepare for interview.
From where I was seated in Visa office I could watch the VO taking interview. Became nervous when found that he is rejecting many candidiates.
When I went for interview VO asked.

Not getting B2 US PA date in Hyderabad in Telugu.
Hello All,
I am trying to process visa for my mom and dad. They live in Hyderabad so planing to book a slot in Hyderabad in Telugu. I am done with DS160 and HDFC receipt long back, however could not get the PA date in telugu from many days. I have been trying since 3 weeks.
Could any of you please let me know what will be a good time to look for the PA dates in Hyderabad in Telugu.

Successful Visa interview for My parents

First of all my sincere thanks to Immihelp for all the valuable information you hold on your site.
They had a Telugu interview in Hyderabad on 8th july at 9 AM.
The VO was an American who can speak little Telugu. No Translator was present.
The questions were:
1. Wht does your son do?
2. How long do you plan to stay?
3. Do you have a passport copy of your son, show me.
4.Where in US does your son stay?
5. How many children do you have?
6. Where do they live? (Other than me all 2 of them are in india)
Later VO said that the passport would reach them in a weeks time.
Their photo on DS160 did not had a white background hence they had to take another photo with in the consolate premises and attach on SD160.
This interview was a huge relief for me because of following points
1. My lastname is Combination of my Surname and my dad's name while my dad's last name is just the surname.
2.My passport shows my dads name directly while my dads passport has the given name as combination of his fathers name and them his. I had asked my dad to carry an affidavit explaining the same.
3.My father is a business man and i read a lot of rejections for them. Luckily no question was asked on what he does.
4. In the month of March 2011 i had sponsered Visa for inlaws so was a little bit skeptical about my parents interview.
Points i tried from my side:
Not sure if these points really helped in clearing the interview but just wanted to share with you.
1. Choose Friday appointment though thursday was available. (Generally Friday mood is good as we all know)
2.Mentioned the intended stay as 4 months (jst to be different from routine 6 months and 3 mnths)
3.Prepared my parents to mention about the properties we had rented out when asked about Business.

Hi,
I am on L1 Blanket (Under Company's Blanket) Visa and it is getting expired on 05 Sep 2011. However my I94 expiry date is on 23-Dec-2013.
I would like to bring my parents in Visitor Visa from India to USA in August 2011.
Is it advisable to apply for the Visitor Visa in this month (July 2011) when my Visa is expiring just in a month? I will be sending the sponsor documents supporting their visitor visa
My company is ready to file for L1 B extension only on the date when it is 6 months to the I 94 expiry date which will be (June 23rd 2013). Will UCSIS return/reject my L1 B extension if i file this month (July 2011)?
